Chapter 53
As I finished my bowl of soup, feeling the weight of Rize’s stare – a stare filled with an ominous smile – she took my hand and pulled me up, suggesting we move to the drawing-room.
“Where are the others?”
“They’re doing their own thing. You’re the last one up. We woke up a while ago.”
Well, it wouldn’t be strange at all if the others had woken up earlier. After all, I was the only one who ended up completely wasted after drinking so much last night.
But it was quite surprising that Aurora was fine. I could understand the Knight Commanders, they’re incredibly resilient, but Aurora’s just an ordinary person. How could she be alright after drinking as much as I did?
Filled with questions, I made my way to the drawing-room. Rize swung the door open with a flourish. Inside, Aurora was sitting gracefully on the sofa, sipping tea.
“…?”
Dressed in what’s known as a “new town missy look” dress.
There was no mistaking it. It was the same dress she wore at the banquet yesterday. Figure-hugging, revealing her cleavage and armpits, with the underwear line still invisible.
As I was trying to organize my thoughts, wondering what in the world was going on, Aurora smiled faintly and opened her mouth.
“You woke up later than I thought. The sun is already high in the sky. Was last night too intense?”
“…What?”
Her words hit me like a hammer, stopping my thoughts in their tracks, but I quickly realized it was a joke when I saw the smile on her face.
As I expected, Aurora soon clarified that it was a joke and placed her teacup on a small saucer.
Led by Rize’s hand, I sat on the sofa opposite Aurora. Rize, the one who made me sit here, naturally stuck to my side as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Seeing that, Aurora’s eyebrows twitched for a moment.
I didn’t mind Rize clinging to me like this. It wasn’t the first time. And what mattered right now wasn’t the fact that Rize was clinging to me.
“Why are you wearing that again, Lord-nim?”
“Hmm?”
Aurora lowered her head to look at her own attire.
Her chest was so exposed that it almost revealed her side and under breasts. Her waist was tightly cinched, revealing her belly button line. Her hips clearly showed she wasn’t wearing any underwear.
No matter how I looked at it, it was the same dress she wore for the banquet yesterday.
“That’s the dress you wore yesterday. Wasn’t the banquet over long ago?”
“…I wondered what you were talking about, it seems you’ve got a big misunderstanding. You need to develop your fashion sense a bit more.”
Aurora chuckled.
“The dresses I’ve been wearing so far were just whatever I pulled out of my closet. This one was specially custom-made along with the banquet dress. I can’t keep wearing the clothes that pig bastard bought, can I? It was a bit too plain to show the dignity of a lord. I appreciate you noticing that I got a new dress, but your taste is a bit lacking.”
‘…What did I just hear?’
I had to desperately manage my expression so that the emotions I was feeling wouldn’t show on my face. In my opinion, the dresses she had been wearing so far were much more befitting of a lord’s dignity and elegance.
That one was just a sex appeal dress designed by modders to make viewers horny.
But Aurora seemed to feel the exact opposite. She genuinely thought that that incredibly revealing dress, which could easily expose her nipples, was a garment of dignity and authority.
‘I think I know roughly why she’s acting like this.’
In the game, Aurora’s attire changes after a while once she takes the position of lord. I thought it was fortunate that her old clothes were fine, but it seems like this was what was touched.
The reason the banquet dress is the same “new town missy look” type of one-piece is simply because of model reuse.
“Oh, you’re really awake?”
“Just like Iris said. How did you know?”
“Intuition.”
As I was dumbfounded by Aurora, who was seductively crossing and uncrossing her legs as if she had misunderstood my gaze, the door opened and the rest of the Knight Commanders entered in a line.
Unlike yesterday’s see-through one-piece with garter belts and lingerie combo, they were dressed in their usual white sleeveless tops and dolphin pants in their respective hair colors.
‘Yeah, that’s better.’
I was relieved inwardly by the fact that the sleeveless tops and dolphin pants looked like a godsend now, and that I had a place to rest my eyes. The combination they wore at the banquet was really hard to handle in many ways.
With six people gathered, the quiet drawing-room instantly became noisy. To be precise, it was because Rize and Claudia were chattering loudly.
If those two were gone and only Aurora, Erika, Iris, and I remained, there wouldn’t be much difference between four and two.
“Well then, shall we stop the chit-chat?”
The noisy atmosphere changed 180 degrees at Aurora’s words.
The silence was filled with gazes. Five pairs of eyes were fixed solely on me. It was a rather eerie sight.
“…Why are you all looking at me like that?”
“We’re wondering how much you remember about what happened yesterday? But it seems you don’t remember everything. At best, maybe halfway?”
“…”
I couldn’t answer Rize’s question. Because I actually blacked out from about halfway through.
In fact, it was highly likely that Rize had already figured out that I didn’t remember much of last night from the moment I answered her question with another question.
She may act like a child, but her actual abilities are in no way inferior to the other Knight Commanders.
“Well, in the end, we didn’t really get anything out of it either.”
“…?”
Unexpected words came out of Iris’s mouth. I even blacked out, but they didn’t get anything? Did I not just black out, but actually fall asleep?
“Half of it is our fault, and the other half is Rize’s fault, I guess.”
“Half of it is Rize’s fault?”
I pushed Rize, who was clinging to my arm, away moderately and asked. What did she do?
The five of them couldn’t come up with any good ideas.
The newcomer had shut his mouth so tightly, and if they made him drink more here, it was clear that his mind wouldn’t open up, but he would lose consciousness and pass out.
Even now, he was in a precarious state, as if he might collapse and fall asleep at any moment. He was swaying periodically, so it seemed he could fall asleep whenever he wanted to.
This meant they had to find a way to make him talk without making him drink more or fall asleep in this state, but such a method wouldn’t come to mind easily.
“That’s quite unexpected, Rize.”
“Huh? What is?”
Iris stared intently at Rize and Aurora, who were touching the newcomer’s face here and there as if trying to satisfy their personal desires by taking one seat on each side of him. Then, she casually said something.
“I thought you wouldn’t miss this moment for sure. I thought you’d suggest using a honey trap on the newcomer.”
Usually, the newcomer would withstand Rize’s temptations well, but this time was different.
From the moment he seemed to be drunk, he openly stared at Rize’s chest, and not only that, he also glanced at the other Knight Commanders and Aurora’s attire.
They let it slide because it wasn’t a bad feeling to be looked at with such a gaze by the newcomer, but if another man had given them the same look, a lump the size of their head would have formed on his head.
Or maybe a bone would have been broken somewhere.
In such a situation, it could be considered natural for Iris to think that Rize would seduce the newcomer with her body as usual.
Of course, Erika and Iris would stop her the moment they saw any sign of it.
“Ah, that?”
Rize proudly straightened her shoulders. Aurora, who was right next to her, had a look that said, “What is she going to say now?”
“There’s no sense of immorality. Immorality. If I were to seduce the newcomer now, he would definitely fall for it. But what good would that do? That’s not what I want.”
Iris tilted her head. Seeing that, Rize continued her explanation, saying, “You don’t know anything.”
“What I want is for the man who was weaker than me at our first meeting, but had outstanding potential, to suddenly grow up and overwhelm me in every way, pinning me down. The sense of immorality that comes from that difference is what’s important. The moment when the newcomer realizes that I, who seemed strong enough to handle everything in the world at first, am nothing more than a mere female. Do you understand?”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“…”
Silence fell over the drawing-room.
It was a shocking confession of taste that not only Iris, who had asked the question, but also Aurora, who was right next to her, and even Erika and Claudia, who were seriously discussing how to make the newcomer talk, were frozen in place.
“But you can’t do that when he’s drunk, can you? The immorality disappears, and only instinct remains. So naturally, I have to take a step back. I have to wait for the perfect moment.”
“Rize, you really are…”
Iris muttered in disbelief. She had heard a little about Rize’s slightly peculiar taste before, but she never imagined it would be this firmly established.
“Are you out of your mind, Unni? You can just keep that to yourself, why do we have to know what kind of fetish you have? What sin have we committed to hear that right in front of us?”
Erika poured out her complaints like a machine gun. She looked genuinely dumbfounded. It was understandable, considering she had witnessed her own sister reveal her sexual preferences right in front of her.
“Iris asked, didn’t she?”
“I didn’t think you’d reveal your preferences like that. Isn’t it too much to blame me for this situation?”
“So what?”
Rize grinned and poked the newcomer’s cheek with her finger. The others just stared at her with all sorts of complicated emotions in their eyes.
“Why do I have to know what kind of fetish my colleague has?”
Claudia muttered softly. It was something everyone here could relate to.
“…”
“…?”
Iris was about to say something, but she blushed and trembled. She looked around. Erika, Claudia, and Aurora didn’t react much differently.
Only Rize was acting normal.
“No, what happened while I was asleep?”
“…I don’t want to remember.”
‘What did she do?’
Since everyone except Rize was reacting like that, it was clear that she had done something, but since Iris didn’t seem to want to talk about it, I couldn’t figure it out at all.
“Ahem, ahem. Anyway, while we were wasting time, you ended up falling asleep, and naturally, the chance to reveal the secret was gone. The only thing we managed to guess was that you know much more than we thought.”
Iris added with a cough. She seemed to think she had failed, but in fact, that alone was quite an achievement.
The fact that I know much more now. And the fact that I have a secret I’m hiding. If they figured out those two things, then they’ve succeeded at least halfway.
“But this is as far as we can go. If it’s something you’re so adamant about not wanting to talk about, it would be rude of us to pry further.”
“Is that so?”
“But can I ask you one more thing?”
Iris’s expression became serious. I also tensed up, wondering what she was going to ask. After a brief pause, Iris opened her mouth.
“Is the secret you’re keeping something you can tell us someday?”
“Of course. I definitely will.”
I nodded reflexively as soon as I heard Iris’s question. I didn’t even have to think about my answer. I didn’t know exactly when, but I was definitely going to tell them.
“I see. That’s enough.”
Iris’s lips curled up slightly at my answer. Aurora, Erika, and Claudia also seemed satisfied with my answer.
“Wait, I still have something to say.”
Rize suddenly cut in. I looked at her, wondering what she was going to say.
“After taking you to your room yesterday, we thought about it amongst ourselves. We can’t keep calling you ‘newcomer’ forever, even if you’ve forgotten your name, can we?”
Now that I think about it, she was right.
Ever since I answered that I had forgotten my name because of the curse, I had been called ‘newcomer’ without a proper name. I had gotten so used to it that I just overlooked it.
“That’s true. So?”
“You still don’t remember your name, do you?”
I nodded. I didn’t want to use the name I used before I was possessed here as well. It felt cringeworthy and repulsive to have my Korean name called here.
“We have an idea. What do you think?”
The way she said “we” made it seem like they had all thought of the name together. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to hear it, so I quietly waited for Rize’s next words.
“Delta. It means ‘change’ in ancient language. It’s the perfect name because you’re bringing change to us, isn’t it?”
‘Delta?’
For some reason, it was a name that reminded me of something wearing a diving suit and carrying a drill in a deep-sea city somewhere deep in the ocean.
