I Reincarnated into a Game Filled with Mods – Chapter 80

Chapter 80

Chapter 80

I dodged the right arm that tried to crush me by rolling to the side, and before Lucia could approach, I closed the distance first.

Ironically, because the boss was so grotesquely shaped, it was much easier to fight her up close rather than keeping a certain distance.

Her body was less defended than other parts, making it easier to deal damage, and I could avoid some of her right arm’s swinging patterns altogether.

I’ve died countless times trying to keep a distance, intimidated by Lucia’s appearance, only to be hit by her surprisingly wide-range swings and die a mysterious death.

ㅡThwack!

Of course, even in Darkest Light mode, it’s not easy being close.

I deflected all of Lucia’s consecutive arm swings, landed a basic attack, and quickly retreated. The tentacles that popped out of her split abdomen stabbed the spot where I had just been.

It was a new poking pattern added in Darkest Light mode. I had to keep things like this in mind. It was obvious what would happen if I failed to react.

Lucia’s shoulders twitched violently. It meant she was about to start her consecutive slam attack pattern. There was no need to dodge or roll; I could just deflect them all.

I watched her two arms as they prepared to slam down and swung my sword at the right moment.

Loud clanging sounds echoed repeatedly. My body was pushed back slightly, and Lucia walked forward, but that was all. There was nothing to be particularly cautious about.

As soon as the seven consecutive attacks ended, I swung my sword once more and deflected Lucia’s right arm attack. The massive lump of flesh swept across the nearby floor, and I barely managed to stop myself from being pushed back by the recoil.

Lucia’s clothes, which had become practically rags, flapped wildly for a moment.

‘…I really can’t focus, damn it.’

The biggest problem wasn’t Lucia’s difficulty or patterns. The biggest problem was that my thoughts and gaze kept drifting to inappropriate places because of her naked body.

The fact that her skin was covered in black liquid didn’t matter. The form itself was human, wasn’t it? Naturally, the physical characteristics of her human days remained intact.

And that damn mod was playing a huge role.

Lucia was female in vanilla as well, but she didn’t wear clothes like this. The Battle Priests, the original version of the Battle Nuns, wore full-body robes, and hers were just moderately torn.

But with the mod installed, all Battle Priests were changed to female, and their attire became incredibly revealing. It was obvious what she would look like with those clothes torn and tattered.

Her breasts, exposed with every movement, jiggled intensely, and her movements seemed to emphasize her chest and buttocks.

It would be a waste of time to talk about the body you emphasize so much.

Even her underwear was missing, so the precarious view between her legs was a bonus. I was truly thankful that she was covered in that black liquid.

The main body’s left arm bounced back after colliding with the Bloodstained Sword. The impact caused the fat clinging to her chest to jiggle violently once more.

‘Good thoughts. Good thoughts.’

The situation was similar during the Arachnainera boss fight. However, unlike Lucia, who only vaguely resembled a human, Arachnainera was perfectly human from the waist up.

Despite that, the reason I was particularly bothered by these things during Lucia’s boss fight was probably due to the strip show Stella and her Battle Nuns put on under the guise of a heresy determination.

They all stripped naked in front of me, and the Inquisitor even made me forcibly fondle her breasts. There’s no way that wouldn’t be etched into my memory.

Because of that, I kept getting flashbacks to that incident, and to make matters worse, Lucia’s attire was identical to the Battle Nuns’ uniforms.

‘Was the shock that great?’

The one who initiated the heresy determination, the one who received it, and the one who witnessed it were all frozen stiff and out of their minds. The reasons why all three were frozen were different, though.

‘No, let’s just not think about it.’

I barely managed to calm my mind, assumed a defensive stance to lower my battle fatigue gauge, and took a moment to catch my breath.

I did something pointless. Focusing on the battle was my top priority right now. If I got distracted by irrelevant things, I might end up dying on the spot.

I deliberately stared at the patterns Lucia was using. It was to clear my mind of distracting thoughts. Rather than thinking about not recalling *those* things, I filled my head with thoughts of focusing on the patterns.

‘This attack is off-beat.’

Seeing her right arm move to an awkward position, I counted one beat internally and then rolled. The sound of her swinging arm echoed at precisely that moment.

Lucia used her right arm, which she had slammed into the ground, as a support to float into the air. The arm behind her back wriggled and began to split into several strands. Each of the divided tentacles transformed into sharp spikes.

After confirming this, I positioned myself appropriately. If I dodged properly, this pattern offered a very clear damage window.

The pattern started with the ones on the right side of the boss. I took a step to the right, and a tentacle slammed down right next to me with a loud thud.

Next, I twisted my body to the left. Again, a tentacle slammed directly next to me with a thud. It was a close call, barely a finger’s width away.

I continued to evade the numerous tentacles that slammed down, simply by moving a step or twisting my body.

It was possible even in the game. This was the so-called “hitbox porn” situation. If you intentionally looked for it, quite a few bosses had at least one pattern where you could do this.

Unless you were aiming for style points, there was no reason to dodge so precariously when you could just roll or deflect.

After dodging the tentacles like that about 12 times, the attack stopped. Lucia’s body, having finished the pattern, began to slowly descend.

I didn’t wait for that and immediately swung my sword. I could attack her unilaterally without worrying about counterattacks until her main body fully landed.

Lucia launched her next attack after being hit about seven times. With a blink, the Blessing Enchantment applied to the Bloodstained Sword conveniently disappeared.

Instead of approaching Lucia with a roll, I created distance. I pulled out the Divine Catalyst while maintaining a safe distance to prevent the leaping body press pattern.

Once again, a dark, sun-like light coated the crimson blade.

“Aaaaaah… Ugh, uh…”

Lucia staggered and retreated. The arm that had sprouted from her back couldn’t withstand the accumulated damage and melted into black liquid. Painful moans escaped from between her lips.

The battle was one-sided. In fact, if it weren’t one-sided, I wouldn’t be standing here so unharmed.

Lucia tried to gather her strength again to regenerate the arm on her back, but her body, which had already been damaged and collapsed, didn’t recover easily. It would regenerate and then crumble again.

Suddenly, a small object rolled down from her neck.

Confirming that Lucia’s head was bowed, I lowered my aimed sword. It was a cutscene signaling the start of the second phase, so there was no risk of being attacked during this time.

Lucia’s black-stained eyes stared intently at the object that had just rolled down. It was a necklace. A necklace that, somehow, had been neatly hanging around her neck amidst her tattered clothing.

And it was also an object with the symbol of the Holy Kingdom’s god engraved on it.

“Oh, Ooooooh…”

Lucia let out a beast-like wail, slowly knelt down, and clumsily picked up the necklace lying on the floor with her still unmutated left hand. Her fingers trembled as she grasped it.

Although it was stained and dirty, the symbol engraved on its surface was clearly visible. Black liquid dripped from Lucia’s eyes like tears as she gently stroked the symbol.

Lucia clutched the necklace to her chest and shakily stood up. Her mouth, which had only been letting out beastly cries and roars, began to form human words with small movements.

“Oh, Sun… Merciful light that watches over all things…”

Lucia, staring blankly at her right arm, which had already grown several times larger than her body, grabbed its shoulder with her other hand while reciting a prayer.

ㅡCrack!

The left hand that grasped her right shoulder began to tear it off completely.

Even though flesh tore, joints twisted, and black liquid oozed out, the left hand tearing off the arm didn’t stop. The gruesome sound of flesh separating from flesh, bone from bone, echoed throughout the boss room.

Finally, Lucia completely ripped off her mutated right arm. The massive pile of rotten flesh slumped and dissolved into the floor as it rotted and decayed.

“Please receive the prayer of this poor lamb…”

Her left hand, soaked in black liquid, grasped another Divine Catalyst that was tied to her waist.

At that moment, a brilliant golden light erupted. It was a far more splendid and bright light than the Blessing Enchantment applied to the Bloodstained Sword.

Although her entire body began to burn bright red as if she had suffered burns due to the Abyss still lingering within her, she didn’t seem to care in the slightest.

Lucia brought the Divine Catalyst to her right shoulder, where the black liquid had begun to wriggle and gather again. White flames erupted from the shoulder where it touched the Divine Catalyst.

Her clothes were still in tatters, and her right shoulder was burning from the white flames, but the atmosphere she exuded was completely different. Her body was no longer covered in black liquid.

A faint spark of life returned to her blackened eyes.

“…Grant me the strength to rise once more.”

No longer the Fallen Priestess Lucia, but a woman who had returned as the Sun Priestess Lucia, ignited a brilliant golden light from the Divine Catalyst.

I was lured by an invitation email to the beta test of the sequel to the game I’ve been playing for the past 10 years. To my surprise, all the mods I’ve installed over the years were still there. Everything from enemy enhancement mods to NPC gender swap and appearance retouching mods were intact. Even mods for changing the characters’ outfits were still in place. *Takes inspiration from Sekiro + Soulsborne series.
