Chapter 38: The Ultimate Weapon Arrives
“You got it?”
Shen Xing’s eyes lit up as he read the message, his heart pounding with excitement.
This was much faster than he had anticipated.
Although he hadn’t pressed for details or a specific timeframe in the past few days, it didn’t mean he wasn’t anxious.
After all, the sooner he got this thing, the better!
“Just got it. But, boss, there might be a slight complication,” Xiaoling’s text message seemed to carry a hint of worry.
Shen Xing immediately initiated a voice call.
“Boss?” Xiaoling’s voice came through, slightly out of breath, along with the sound of running.
“How are you? Are you safe?”
“I’m safe, thanks for asking, boss,” Xiaoling sounded touched.
It was rare to find a boss who prioritized their employees’ safety.
“So, what’s the complication?” Shen Xing breathed a sigh of relief and inquired.
“Those guys, we had agreed on a price, I even paid the deposit, but they suddenly changed their minds,” Xiaoling sounded indignant. “They realized I had a channel and wanted me to introduce them to my source for the Basic Yuan Liquid.”
“You paid with Basic Yuan Liquid?” Shen Xing understood.
“Yeah, for these hyenas, Basic Yuan Liquid is more attractive than money. Even if they get the money, they wouldn’t be able to buy resources in bulk easily,” Xiaoling explained.
“From the sound of it, you obviously didn’t agree,” Shen Xing narrowed his eyes slightly. “But you still got the item.”
“Yeah, I used an alias to pretend to be my supplier and tricked them into giving me the item,” Xiaoling said matter-of-factly. “Those guys even had people lying in ambush at the pickup location. Luckily, I was smart enough. They shouldn’t have been able to trace anything back to me.”
“…”
For a moment, Shen Xing was speechless.
Even though Xiaoling made it sound simple, he could tell the process was anything but.
She had practically played those guys like a fiddle.
“Don’t worry, boss, it won’t implicate you,” Xiaoling seemed to sense Shen Xing’s concern and her tone became anxious.
She could have chosen not to explain so much to Shen Xing, since she had already obtained the item.
But she still told him the truth.
It could be said that Shen Xing was the person she cared about the most right now—because he might be her only chance to change her destiny.
“Do you think I’d be worried about a bunch of lowlifes who can only hide in the shadows?” Shen Xing chuckled. “I’m just admiring your capabilities.”
This was the truth.
When he first heard Xiaoling say there was “a slight complication,” he was prepared to step in and help.
But he didn’t expect her to handle everything herself.
He truly admired her abilities.
“Hehe, it’s all thanks to your support, boss,” Xiaoling giggled, throwing in a bit of flattery.
Clearly, she had made the right bet this time. Just as she suspected, her boss wasn’t someone who was afraid to get involved.
As long as she got the item, what she did was nothing.
“What is it?” Shen Xing became intrigued by the item she had acquired.
“Boss, you’ll definitely be satisfied!” Xiaoling’s tone perked up. “Those guys, I don’t know where they got this, but it’s really something. I’ll have someone deliver it to your place first thing tomorrow morning. There’s also a full set of instructions inside, you’ll understand once you see it.”

“Playing mysterious with me, huh?” Shen Xing chuckled. “Alright, I’ll be looking forward to it… By the way, are there many students in regular academies who have decent martial arts strength but were eliminated from the Martial Path Academy?”
“Of course, boss, are you thinking…” Xiaoling seemed to realize something, her voice rising with excitement.
“Yes, I’ll give you a batch of specialized resources later. Recruit some people and expand the business,” Shen Xing said. “Your mention of armed factions gave me an idea. I have the resources, and you don’t need to rob anyone. Just expand our influence and protect the resource trade.”
This idea had indeed come to him after learning about the existence of armed gangs.
He was initially worried that expanding his subordinate forces would attract the attention of the Academy City.
However, if the Academy City didn’t even care much about those gangs, his actions wouldn’t amount to much.
More importantly, having such a group of subordinates would make many things much more convenient.
Take this time, for example.
Without Xiaoling, he would have had to expend a lot of effort and waste a lot of time.
As for Xiaoling, she was naturally ecstatic.
She knew that this not only meant an increase in her power and wealth but, more importantly, it meant she was truly becoming closer to the boss, not just a replaceable supplier.
“I’ll work hard and won’t disappoint you, boss!”
Shen Xing could practically hear Xiaoling thumping her chest.
“Alright, it’s already flat enough, any more thumping and it might cave in,” he teased with a light laugh. “Keep up the good work, and don’t neglect your own martial arts. There might be a surprise for you in the future.”
“Yes, sir!”
After ending the call, Shen Xing was filled with anticipation for the item Xiaoling had obtained.
For Xiaoling to describe it in such a way and even keep him in suspense, it had to be something extraordinary.
He continued his cultivation until the next day.
After receiving Xiaoling’s message, Shen Xing went downstairs and found a package waiting for him at the designated pickup location.
It was quite large, reaching his chest, at least 1.3 to 1.4 meters tall.
He eagerly brought it back to his dormitory and opened it. When he saw the contents, even Shen Xing couldn’t help but take a sharp breath.
It was a long, cylindrical device. At the slightly thicker end was a turbine engine encased in a fine mesh, and at the thinner end was a gun barrel with a diameter of about 15 millimeters.
Indeed, it was a fully automatic, cruise-capable drone with a large-caliber electromagnetic gun barrel!
“A true weapon of mass destruction,”
Shen Xing picked up the instruction manual and examined the specifications, his amazement growing with each detail.
Its maximum flight altitude could reach over 2,400 meters, and its maximum flight speed was a staggering 720 kilometers per hour, which was 60% of the speed of sound! The initial velocity of the bullets fired from the gun barrel was even more impressive, reaching 1,100 meters per second! The magazine capacity was a whopping 600 rounds, with a maximum firing rate of 200 rounds per minute!
And that was with 15-millimeter diameter bullets.
A drone + a Barrett + a machine gun?
Shen Xing could already imagine its destructive power.
If used in an open area, firing from above, forget about Marrow Tempering Stage, even Organ Tempering Stage martial artists wouldn’t stand a chance.
However, Shen Xing also knew that in the Human Federation, or even just on the Academy Home Planet, this weapon wasn’t that impressive. The drone would be detected as soon as it took off and easily jammed. Moreover, kinetic weapons were relatively easy to defend against. Forget about force field defense devices, even some high-quality protective suits could block them.
At most, it could only be used for a surprise attack.
It wasn’t surprising that it ended up in the hands of a bunch of students.
