Ch 27: Going to Catch Me and Roast Me
In her previous life, Si Shuo only learned things that were more about tranquility, cultivating her sentiments, and killing time.
She wasn’t very talented in painting. She could accurately smear the colors, but she lacked the agility and appeal required in the industry.
In reality, she was trapped in a limited space. What she heard and saw were all things that others said, things written in books, and things shown on TV. She didn’t have any personal experience, so how broad could her mind be, and how wide could her thinking be?
But now, she could use this skill to pass messages to Zhile.
Si Shuo pinched her eyebrow pencil and thought for a while. She started drawing after Zhi Le left. One drawing was of her daily life, one was of Ji Liang’s arrival, one was of the arrival of the rogue beast and her being captured, and the last one was of her escape and meeting Brother Xu Chi.
In the end, she drew a smiling face, stroked the beast mark with her hand, and indicated that she was waiting for his arrival.
Si Shuo tied these drawings together with dry grass and put them into her Pocket Dimension.
She gently stroked the beast mark on her wrist…
The Snow Leopard running through the jungle suddenly stopped abruptly. His heart, which had been beating extremely fast due to anxiety and fear, calmed down at this moment.
He took a deep breath, opened the Space with hope, and found the stack of drawings.
Zhile lowered his eyes and looked at them very slowly. He wished he could imagine the way she completely told the story in each picture.
Si Shuo used a simple cartoon style. With just a few strokes, she could express the meaning vividly, figuratively, and clearly.
Seeing that she was fine for the time being, Zhi Le didn’t dare to relax. He put some fruits into the Space and continued to transform into a Snow Leopard, rushing towards the direction where he sensed her.
Not long after Si Shuo put the painting into the Space, Brother Xu Chi came back carrying a long-eared rabbit, a bamboo rat, a striped chicken, and a half-grown piglet.
He also dragged some firewood!
Brother Xu Chi manually cleared a piece of grassland, pulled out the weeds inside, and used the fire-drilling method to start a fire in a minute or two.
This level of efficiency stunned Si Shuo.
Brother Xu Chi processed the prey, put it on a wide leaf, and silently roasted them one by one.
After roasting the rabbit, he tore off a hind leg and handed it to her.
Si Shuo quickly took it, but the freshly roasted meat was too hot, so she couldn’t help but throw the meat out.
After Brother Xu Chi took it, he put the meat on the leaf. Seeing that several blisters immediately appeared on her fair hand, he pursed his lips, grabbed her, and went to the river, pressing her hand into the water.
The icy water dispersed the burning sensation from her fingertips, and Si Shuo breathed a sigh of relief.
“Sorry,” he said, lowering his eyes slightly.
“It’s okay. I was a little impatient and forgot that the freshly roasted meat was too hot,” Si Shuo said with a smile, shaking her head. Seeing that he was still holding her hand, she said helplessly, “Brother Xu Chi, you can let go of my hand. I can soak it myself.”
Brother Xu Chi nodded, let go of her hand, and continued to roast the meat.
Si Shuo slightly mobilized her ability and concentrated it on her fingertips. In just twenty seconds, the blisters on her fingertips disappeared, and the pain was gone.
However, she still pretended to soak it for five or six minutes before taking it out and shaking it. “Fortunately, I soaked it in water in time, so no blisters appeared.”
Brother Xu Chi glanced at it and handed over the rabbit leg threaded with a branch.
Si Shuo didn’t stand on ceremony. After thanking him, she took it and gnawed on it.
The long-eared rabbit’s hind leg meat was firm and strong, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The most important thing was that this male was too good at it. She didn’t know what he sprinkled in the bonfire, but the roasted meat didn’t have any fishy smell at all. It had a pleasant aroma of grass and trees, and he brushed a layer of honey on the outside.
Who can resist honey-glazed barbecue?
It’s just that the long-eared rabbit’s hind leg was a bit big. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that she was carrying it to eat. She hadn’t even eaten twenty percent of it yet.
Brother Xu Chi could eat a lot. He left a leg of each type of meat for Si Shuo, and he solved the rest himself!
Si Shuo sighed silently again. The males’ appetites were too big. No wonder the beastmen had been rushing around collecting food since the ice and snow melted in the cold winter.
After eating, Brother Xu Chi went into the forest again and came out with some fruits in a beast hide bag.
◈◈◈
Si Shuo was gnawing on the fruit, already so sleepy that she couldn’t keep her eyes open. Her head was bobbing up and down, and just as she was about to fall, a pair of well-defined hands caught her.
She had consumed too much physical strength, energy, and ability today, so she couldn’t hold on at this moment.
Brother Xu Chi looked at her struggling to open her eyes and squatted down in front of her. “I’ll carry you on my back.”
Si Shuo’s mind was already overloaded, and her defense against him wasn’t very high. After struggling for a moment, she still put her arms around his neck and sent herself onto his back.
Brother Xu Chi didn’t look particularly strong, but his back still gave her a sense of security that could dispel all dangers.
She rested her head on it and fell asleep before long.
Brother Xu Chi supported her with one hand, packed up the things with the other, and flew through the forest with her on his back.
The little female was too thin. He couldn’t feel her weight at all when carrying her, and she was soft and delicate, unlike the hard and rough males.
It’s just that the smell on her body wasn’t very pleasant. He hadn’t used his nose to breathe since he met her. He relied entirely on his mouth to inhale and exhale…
Si Shuo always had the habit of taking a nap. This was her unwavering routine for so many years.
However, her lunch break wasn’t long, only about an hour or so.
When she opened her eyes, she thought she was sitting on an electric donkey. The surrounding scenery retreated with a whoosh, blowing her hair like Qiao Feng’s.
Si Shuo subconsciously rubbed her head against the “pillow”. Feeling the “pillow” move, she immediately woke up, and a flush of embarrassment flashed across her face.
She looked up at the sun in the sky. It was much more westward than before. At least an hour or so had passed.
“Brother Xu Chi, you haven’t been carrying me all the time, have you?” At a speed of 30 miles per hour!
Brother Xu Chi hmm’d. “The tribe is a bit far away. We have to get there before sunset.”
Si Shuo’s mouth twitched. If she hadn’t been carried by him, with her speed, wouldn’t she have to walk for two or three days?
With a thick face, she didn’t dare to say that he should rest if he was tired. After all, there was an essential difference between her falling asleep and climbing onto his back and her climbing on his back to be lazy.
At least her skin wasn’t thick enough to that extent!
“Brother Xu Chi, why does your beast form cause trouble?” Si Shuo couldn’t help but ask.
She was too curious about what kind of beastman he was. He didn’t seem to have any wildness or instinct in him, so she subconsciously regarded him as a normal person with great strength, fast speed, and a big appetite.
“Uncommon. The clansmen know. They want to capture.”
Why did it feel like she was pretending before?
The more he said that, the more curious Si Shuo became. Curiosity killed the cat!
She was the cat herself now.
“Can’t you reveal a little bit? For example, what color are you?”
“Hair color.” This child was honest enough!
Just as Si Shuo was continuing to dig up secrets, the crested eagle beastman’s cry sounded in the sky again.
“C*ap, Brother Xu Chi, we have to hide quickly. That crested eagle beastman wants to catch me and roast me,” Si Shuo’s expression changed. She patted Brother Xu Chi’s shoulder. “He is a level four beastman, one level higher than you.”
Not only was he one level higher, but he was also one shade higher, which was ten times the suppression!
Brother Xu Chi stopped and looked up. Just by delaying for a few seconds, the crested eagle beastman had already swooped down…
