Ch 89: Keeping Dad
Before Huo Xingchen could speak, Ghost Dad interrupted him, “Xingchen?”
Huo Yunjing moved closer to Gu Qingyin and said softly, “Our son is also named Xingchen. He’s ten years old this year.” He reached out and gestured towards his waist, “He’s this tall, you know?”
Gu Qingyin’s expression became complicated after hearing this, and Huo Xingchen’s eyes immediately turned red.
“Dad…”
Huo Yunjing looked at Huo Xingchen with confusion and shock, then cautiously glanced at Gu Qingyin, explaining with a wronged expression, “Wife, I really don’t know him. You have to believe me, I have never done anything to betray you.”
Gu Qingyin was even more speechless. If she wasn’t 100% sure that she hadn’t lost her memory, she would have really thought they were once a loving couple.
“Reign in the Yin Energy on your body, you’re freezing me.”
Huo Yunjing tried hard to inhale, but the Yin Energy kept pouring out from all over his body. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t contain it. The more he tried, the angrier he became, and finally, he simply gave up. He turned his head to Gu Qingyin and said, “Wife, you won’t be cold if you wear more clothes.”
Gu Qingyin chuckled to herself, thinking, He’s actually quite smart, isn’t he?
Rubbing her aching forehead, Gu Qingyin took out a dagger, cut off a strand of her own hair, and tied it to Huo Yunjing’s wrist.
Magically, the Yin Energy on Huo Yunjing’s body seemed to be covered up, and suddenly it couldn’t be seen anymore.
Huo Yunjing looked down at himself, then raised his wrist and smelled the hair on his wrist, smiling happily.
Gu Qingyin’s lips twitched, and she glanced at Huo Xingchen, “Come out and talk.”
The three of them moved to the living room. Gu Qingyin sat on the sofa, and Huo Yunjing stuck to her like glue, impossible to get rid of.
Gu Qingyin was eager to know what had happened, so she temporarily let Huo Yunjing’s actions go.
As the son who had made a mistake, Huo Xingchen stood very consciously opposite Gu Qingyin, staring down at the coffee table in the middle, organizing his words in his mind, trying to make his wrong behavior seem a little more reasonable.
“Cat got your tongue?” Gu Qingyin said calmly and authoritatively, “Speak.”
Huo Xingchen shivered, staring at the coffee table, and started from the beginning.
“When I was seven years old, I was playing hide-and-seek with Big Brother and hid in your bedroom. I accidentally saw your cultivation notes. At first, I didn’t understand them, but I had a feeling that the things recorded inside were very powerful.”
“Later, I learned more and more characters and could understand some of the things in the notes, so I practiced according to what was written on them.”
Hearing this, Gu Qingyin’s eyes flickered, and she asked, “From the time you started cultivating to the first time you felt Spiritual Power, how long did it take?”
Huo Xingchen thought for a moment, then said uncertainly, “Half a year, maybe.”
Gu Qingyin nodded, “Continue.”
Without anyone to guide him, it only took him half a year to sense Spiritual Power. This time was actually very short. Huo Xingchen really has talent in this area.
Huo Xingchen: “I cultivated haltingly until I was ten years old. Dad suddenly had a car accident and was admitted to the ICU.”
“I was very scared at the time, because I didn’t have a mother since I was little, and I was very afraid that Dad would also leave us. While praying that Dad could recover and come home, I made the worst plan. If Dad didn’t make it, at least I had to keep his soul, so that he could accompany me in another form.”
“In those days, I flipped through the notes again and again, and finally found a way to keep the soul.”
Huo Xingchen took a deep breath, “I used my flesh as a Suppression Artifact and forcibly kept Dad at the moment he died.”
A short chapter, I’ll make up the word count tomorrow…
