Ch 7: Lu Jingyuan: “Little Grandpa”; Wen Li: “Do you even qualify?”
The car stopped near the Wen Family residence at Wen Li’s instruction.
The little guy couldn’t hold on and had already fallen asleep.
Wen Li gently took Hei Junjiang from the little guy’s arms and said to Lu Xixiao, “Thank you, Mr. Lu, for tonight.”
Her tone was very similar to Lu Xixiao’s earlier impartial manner.
The latter didn’t speak, only nodding slightly in response.
Wen Li left the two toys on the co-pilot seat for the little guy, then got out of the car.
Seeing Wen Li hadn’t done anything along the way, Lu Qi couldn’t help but praise her: “She’s quite composed~”
As soon as she entered the villa, Wen Li saw Wen Baixiang sitting on the living room sofa in his pajamas, smoking, unsure if he was waiting for her.
Regardless, Wen Li ignored him and went straight upstairs.
Wen Baixiang extinguished the remaining half of his cigarette in the ashtray, watching Wen Li’s back as she went upstairs, swallowing the few words he had been about to say.
In the bathroom,
Wen Li let down her high ponytail. While combing her hair, she inevitably touched the bald patch on the back of her head caused by the craniotomy. Her head still hurt, and at this moment, Wen Li’s desire to rush to Nanyang to kill that bastard reached its peak.
Wen Li wasn’t sick, she was injured.
Four months ago in Nanyang, she got into trouble because of a conflict with the strongest force in Nanyang.
To save someone, she directly sniped their leader.
The fact that they could become the overlords of Nanyang meant their ruthlessness was definitely not a sham; they immediately sent armed helicopters to bombard her.
The shrapnel in her head wasn’t completely removed…
And today she learned that the tenacious bastard hadn’t died.
After Wen Li got out of the car, Lu Qi received a message from his subordinates. While driving, he told Lu Xixiao in a voice that wouldn’t disturb the little guy’s sleep: “Fifth Master, I’ve found out.”
“That girl is the daughter of Wen Baixiang, Chairman of the Wen Group, and his deceased second wife. It’s said that because her Bazi clashed with her parents’, she was sent to Mingcheng to be raised by her grandmother right after birth, and she was only brought back today.”
Lu Qi couldn’t help but shake his head at Wen Li’s unfortunate fate.
Superstition is unacceptable.
Lu Qi knew that Wen Yan, the eldest Miss Wen, was adopted by Wen Baixiang, not his biological daughter, but he didn’t know that he had another biological daughter raised in the Mingcheng countryside.
“All these years, she has been living in Mingcheng, depending on her grandmother. Except for her frequent truancy, she hasn’t done anything outrageous, and her grades have always been excellent.”
But clearly, their investigation wasn’t thorough.
Lu Xixiao also questioned: “A good student?”
Lu Qi felt guilty: “Her martial arts skills are indeed extraordinary.”
Her speed, strength, and reaction ability were far beyond what an ordinary person could achieve through practicing taekwondo or similar martial arts.
Although she hadn’t revealed much, her strength was definitely more than that.
“It’s clear that Young Master Jingyuan also really likes her,” Lu Qi reminded Lu Xixiao, this liking, probably couldn’t be forcibly suppressed.
“I’ll investigate further.”
Understanding the importance of the little guy to Lu Xixiao, Lu Qi didn’t dare to be careless.
There had been too many examples of people with ulterior motives, intentionally approaching him.
And Wen Li, abandoned in the countryside and only recently brought back to the elite family, powerless and labeled inauspicious by her biological father, had too many motives to gain a foothold in the Wen Family, or even in Beijing.
If she truly had malicious intentions, with such martial arts skills, she must be guarded against.
Lu Xixiao didn’t say anything, taking it as agreement.
He found the little guy’s mobile phone and checked the WeChat chat records between the little guy and Wen Li…
The black Maybach drove into the Lu Family Manor, circled a large artificial lake, and finally stopped in front of a villa.
Lu Xixiao carried him out of the car.
His movements were gentle, but the little guy, who had been worried about Wen Li, still woke up. He was drowsy, feeling Hei Junjiang was gone, and realized he was home.
The little guy lifted his head, his eyes sleepy, and after a moment, he uttered a new word: “…Older Sister.”
His voice was milky and sleepy.
“She’s already been sent home,” Lu Xixiao told him.
The little guy quieted down, staring at him. Before Lu Xixiao could ask, the little guy suddenly took off the amulet he always wore around his neck, and with his little arms, put the amulet on Lu Xixiao’s head.
“I don’t need it, you wear it, and don’t take it off.”
Lu Xixiao wanted to take it off and put it back on him.
But the little hands pressed down firmly, preventing him from removing it.
Lu Xixiao looked at him, seeing tears welling up in his eyes, his small mouth pouting as if he was about to cry, his voice slightly choked: “…Little Grandpa wear.”
Lu Xixiao suddenly understood. The little guy must have seen Wen Li suddenly faint and was afraid that the same would happen to him, so he wanted to give him the amulet.
Unable to do anything, Lu Xixiao had to wear it.
“I’m fine, don’t worry,” he carried him upstairs.
The little guy held back his tears, resting peacefully on Lu Xixiao’s shoulder, his small head against the man’s cold face.
The next morning,
The atmosphere at the dinner table was somewhat subtle.
Wen Baixiang had the servant take the untouched stewed dish in front of him to Wen Li, saying, “There’s more if you want, your mother quite liked this.”
Wen Li ignored him and ate by herself.
“There’s a driver at home, next time you want to go somewhere, have them take you.”
“If you need anything, tell Aunt Yun, she will get it for you, or have Yan Yan accompany you to buy it. You girls have things to talk about, and sisters can understand and strengthen their relationship.”
He took out a card: “Tell me if it’s not enough.”
“I’ll personally take you to the hospital after you finish eating.”
After Wen Baixiang finished speaking, he added, “When are you going to call me Father?”
Wen Li slowly stopped her chopsticks, leaning lazily against the chair back, her light tone questioning him: “Do you even deserve it?”
The sarcasm in Wen Li’s eyes left the guilty Wen Baixiang speechless for a moment, but his face still looked a bit unsightly because of Wen Li’s bluntness.
Wen Xin said unhappily, “Why are you talking to Dad like that?”
Wen Xin is the daughter of Wen Baixiang and Lin Yun, the math genius who was sent to Peking University and won awards since childhood, according to the maid A Jing.
She didn’t appear last night, and only showed up now.
Under the table, Lin Yun gently kicked her daughter’s foot, signaling her to stop talking, and then continued to act as a peacemaker, mediating: “Xiao Li, no matter what, he is still your father, you…”
Unexpectedly, before she finished speaking, Wen Li said to her, neither lightly nor heavily: “Eat your food.”
Her tone was quite good, even to the point of coaxing a child… no, it was more like teasing a pet.
Lin Yun: “You…”
Wen Xin felt that her mother hadn’t been respected, even humiliated, and angrily said, “What do you mean?”
Wen Baixiang stopped her: “Alright, Xinxin, finish your food and go to school.”
Then he said to Wen Li: “The transfer procedures have been completed for you, No.6 Middle School, you can enroll in two days.”
Wen Li: “Why not No.1 Middle School?”
“You still want to go to No.1 Middle School?” Wen Xin sneered, “With your grades and truancy record, don’t go there and embarrass the Wen Family.”
