Ch 152: Where is Gu Chen? Tell him to come out and see me.
After entering the Dragon Palace, Ling Feng arranged Gu Chen’s lodging and then went about his business.
He told Gu Chen to rest in the courtyard for two days; the final selection wouldn’t begin until the day after tomorrow.
To put it simply, it’s currently in the shrinking circle stage.
“Old Xu, you rest here; I’ll go out and take care of something,” Gu Chen said as he walked toward the courtyard exit.
He wasn’t going to find Gu Ci.
The interior of the Dragon Palace was enormous, with ample space and intricately complex functional zones. Simply searching for someone would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Regarding Gu Ci’s matter, Ling Feng had already asked someone to inquire on his behalf and was now awaiting a response.
After turning several corners in the passage, Gu Chen arrived at the Dragon Palace’s shop area.
The shops here offered a comprehensive range of goods, primarily providing enhancements and supplies for Yinlong City’s Professionals.
Weapon shops, armor shops, material shops, general stores, and so on—everything was categorized and readily available.
Gu Chen proceeded straight ahead and quickly found the pet beast shop.
The pet beast shop, as the name suggests, mainly sold items related to Beastmasters or Summoners.
He had noticed this shop on the way in, but at the time, Ling Feng was helping him with the procedures, making it inconvenient to stop.
The Riot Demon Armor was currently only Level 1; he needed to quickly level it up.
Entering the shop, the owner was a tall and thin middle-aged man. Upon seeing Gu Chen, he offered a warm smile.
“Young Brother, feel free to browse. If you can’t find what you’re looking for on the shelves, just ask me.”
Gu Chen didn’t bother searching and directly asked, “Boss, do you have any items for leveling up Summoned Beasts?”
The boss smiled brightly, “You want Pet Beast Experience Pills, right? For what level Summoned Beast? And to what level do you want to raise it?”
Gu Chen’s eyes lit up. Since the boss asked this, he likely had the goods, but he wondered if the quantity was sufficient.
Summoned Beast rebirth had this drawback: it required re-leveling. To raise the Riot Demon Armor to the same level as himself required a considerable amount of experience.
“For a Level 1 Summoned Beast, preferably to Level 25.”
Although Experience Pills could directly provide Summoned Beasts with a massive amount of experience, there was a limitation: the Summoned Beast’s level couldn’t exceed the Summoner’s.
“Level 25, huh? Then you’ll need Second-Order Pet Beast Experience Pills. They have no side effects, and the quantity isn’t large; twenty-five will do the trick.”
“How much?”
“50,000 per pill, 1,250,000 in total.”
Seeing Gu Chen’s lack of response, the boss added, “If you’re serious about buying, 1,200,000 will work, but no installments.”
1,200,000 wasn’t too expensive for Gu Chen at the moment.
Nodding, he continued, “Do you sell any low-level skill books for the Summoner profession?”
Low-level meant Tiers one, two, and three; anything beyond that wouldn’t work.
The boss chuckled, “Yes, the skill books are in the warehouse downstairs. Just a moment; I’ll go get them for you.”
Leaving Gu Chen with that, the boss went to a compartment in the back, presumably to retrieve the skill books from the warehouse below.
Gu Chen waited, looking around. In the large shop, he was the only outsider present.
Various items and materials filled the surrounding shelves; at a rough glance, their value easily reached tens of millions.
Somehow, the thought of a zero-dollar purchase popped into his mind.
But the next second, Gu Chen dismissed the idea.
Anyone who could do business in a place like this wasn’t a fool. Unless they were supremely confident, they wouldn’t dare let an outsider remain alone in the shop.
This was indeed the case; every item on the shelves was locked by a formation. Unless unlocked beforehand, they couldn’t be taken.
Forcibly seizing them would alarm the Dragon Palace guards, and that wouldn’t be fun.
While Gu Chen waited for the skill books, several imposing figures were walking toward Gu Chen’s courtyard in a corridor of the Dragon Palace.
Several staff members noticed this and turned to look, their expressions filled with surprise.
“What’s going on? Isn’t that Lord Gu Qingfeng, the Northern Territory War King? Why is he going to the Second-Order Professional’s residence?”
“I heard that the Northern Territory Royal Family’s Young Master has reached Second Rank. Could he be looking for Gu Ci?”
“Are you blind? The handsome guy in white next to Gu Qingfeng is Gu Ci!”
“Then I don’t know. Did some Professional offend the Young Master? Seeking revenge?”
The staff members whispered amongst themselves. Though curious, they only dared to watch from afar; no one dared to approach.
There was no way around it; Gu Qingfeng was the Empire’s Supreme Expert. The pressure emanating from him was immense.
It was the aura cultivated over eighteen years of slaying tens of thousands of Foreign Races on the Abyssal Battlefield. Ordinary Professionals wouldn’t dare to approach.
Soon, after passing through several corridors, Gu Qingfeng and his entourage arrived at the entrance to the courtyard where Gu Chen had just settled.
“Your Majesty, this is the courtyard where the Eldest Young Master is staying.”
The courtyard gate was open. Just as Gu Qingfeng was about to enter, Xu Xia stepped over the threshold and came out.
Seeing Gu Qingfeng, Xu Xia’s face immediately turned serious, but he still approached.
“Xu Xia of the Eternal Life Group, greets the Northern Territory War King.”
Gu Qingfeng glanced at Xu Xia and nodded. On the way, he had learned about Xu Xia’s general situation from Gu He.
Just an ordinary person who had failed a job change.
Gu Qingfeng didn’t pay much attention to this, calmly asking, “Where is Gu Chen? Tell him to come out and see me.”
Even though he had anticipated this, Xu Xia’s heart still trembled.
The pressure emanating from Gu Qingfeng was too strong. He even had a strange feeling that the person before him wasn’t human, but a demonic god from the Abyss.
Taking a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the fear in his heart, Xu Xia respectfully said, “Your Majesty, Gu Chen is out; he’s not in the courtyard.”
“Not in?” Gu Qingfeng’s eyebrows furrowed, and his complexion darkened.
He was the King, and also his father. He had lowered himself to find his son, yet he came up empty?
Where was his face?
Gu Ci, hearing this, immediately showed anger: “How could he not be here? You just settled in, and we arrived shortly after. How dare you deceive my father!”
Xu Xia chuckled wryly and quickly explained, “How dare I deceive Your Majesty? It’s just that Gu Chen really isn’t here. We just settled in, and he said he had something to do and went out.”
Gu Ci coldly snorted and said, “I heard you and Gu Chen are good brothers. I ask you, did Gu Chen know that Father was in the Dragon Palace?”
Hearing this, Xu Xia’s face froze.
Say he didn’t know?
Impossible. In front of the Northern Territory War King, he had no ability to lie.
Xu Xia was filled with helplessness and could only grit his teeth and say, “Gu Chen… knew.”
Gu Ci’s face immediately turned cold.
“Since he knew, why didn’t he immediately go to greet Father after you settled in? He knew Father would come for him, why did he deliberately avoid us?”
“Father, as the Northern Territory War King, came to find him personally, lowering his status. Is he still not satisfied?”
“Or, does Gu Chen still resent us? Does he want everyone to revolve around him before he’s satisfied? Hmm?”
