Chapter 25: Me, the Cat? I Got Taken into the Bed
“So, good people get good rewards. If you hadn’t given that cat the chicken wings, how could he have brought in customers?” the woman said with a smile. She had heard her husband talk about it and had also seen the cat.
She had to admit that the cat was indeed somewhat different.
But in the end, it was still because her husband was a good person that the cat helped them.
“Yes, but we might not meet him tomorrow. So we still can’t marinate that much meat. Anyway, try to make less and add more slowly,” the man said. They could sell so much today because of the cat’s help, but what if he didn’t come tomorrow?
“Okay, I’ll listen to you then,” the woman nodded and said, putting her phone aside. “Husband, do you think the cat will come to our stall tomorrow?”
“I don’t know, it depends on his mood. But whether he comes or not, we’ve established ourselves after today, haven’t we?”
“That’s true. I wonder who raised this cat? It’s so intelligent. Husband, do you think our family should get a cat?”
“What? You don’t think we can raise a cat that’s better than that tabby cat, do you?”
“No, I’ve heard people who raise cats say that people who raise cats are more likely to attract cats. So I’m thinking that if we raise a cat, will that tabby cat come more often?”
“Is that so? Then we can consider it,” the man said, pondering the feasibility of the matter.
Outside, the night deepened unknowingly.
“Big-Faced Cat, are you asleep? Is it cold on the sofa?” A soft whisper came as Li Li was in dreamland, waking him up instantly.
“Meow meow~ (What are you doing up so late?)” Li Li stared at the girl who walked up to him, stunned for a second before being picked up.
“Good Big-Faced Cat, don’t talk. I’ll take you to bed, hehehe,” the girl said and took Li Li straight into the room.
At this hour, her mother definitely wouldn’t expect her to sneak out again and take the Big-Faced Cat in, right? This was the benefit of reading more books.
“Meow meow~ (If you want to get beaten, don’t drag me into it.)” Li Li, who was taken into the girl’s room, felt speechless. He hadn’t expected this. She looked obedient on the surface but was actually quite different.
He could already imagine the scene of her mother getting up in the morning and yelling at her.
“Big Fat Cat, let’s sleep, it’s getting late.” As Li Li was thinking, the lights were turned off, and he was completely carried into the bed.
“Meow meow~ (You said you wanted to sleep, so don’t use me as a shield when you get scolded tomorrow morning.)” Li Li muttered, nestled in the girl’s arms, and drifted off to sleep.
If the person who was going to get scolded wasn’t afraid, what was there for him, the spectator, to be afraid of?
“Honey, why are you sleeping with Big-Faced Cat?” Sure enough, Li Li was woken up by the woman’s voice in the morning.
The woman, wearing pajamas, looked helplessly at her daughter sleeping with Li Li in her arms.
She should have thought of it last night. Her daughter being so quiet must mean she was up to something. This morning, as soon as she got up, she found Big-Faced Cat missing from the sofa.
And when she came in, she saw Big-Faced Cat being held tightly by her daughter.
“I saw Big-Faced Cat shivering from the cold when I went to the bathroom last night, so I brought him in,” the girl yawned, still holding Li Li. “Mom, look, Big-Faced Cat isn’t shivering anymore. It’s a good thing I brought him in early, or he would have definitely caught a cold.”
“With all that fat on him, it’d be a miracle if he caught a cold in the living room.” The woman took a deep breath. “Let go of Big-Faced Cat, get dressed, wash your face, and eat breakfast. Get ready for school, okay?”
“Okay, okay.” The girl obeyed immediately.
“Big-Faced Cat, let’s go. Did this child scare you yesterday?” The woman asked as she picked up Li Li. This child was just like her father. She would pick up a cat and burrow into bed without even asking if the cat agreed.
“Meow meow~ (It was alright, at least she didn’t crush me.)” Li Li replied, sticking his head out to sniff the living room.
He seemed to smell steak. Could it be steak for breakfast again?
“What are you guys talking about?” At the same time, another voice came from the bathroom. It was Qiang Ge, washing up.
“Of course, we’re talking about your cat-napping crime. Before you go back to work today, you need to take Big-Faced Cat back,” the woman said, carrying Li Li to the bathroom door. “Every time you get drunk, you take someone else’s cat away. Can you pick a place without cats to drink next time?”
“Huh? Little Cat, how did you get here?” Qiang Ge exclaimed in surprise when he saw Li Li.
“Meow meow~ (Of course, you brought me back, Uncle. You held me and wouldn’t let me go, remember?)” Li Li said, rolling his eyes.
The woman was already used to it.
“You’re always like this. You forget what you did after drinking? Remember to take Big-Faced Cat back to where you found him.”
“No problem, wife. Remember to prepare breakfast for Little Cat. Prepare more for him, this little guy has a big appetite. Yesterday, none of us could eat as much as him.” Qiang Ge said with a grin, coming out to take Li Li. “Little Cat, I’m so sorry for bringing you home, but don’t worry, I’ll take you back later.”
“Meow meow~ (Thanks, that saves me a trip back.)” Li Li yawned.
“Dad, where did you meet Big Fat Cat?” The girl asked curiously, coming out in her school uniform, her hand restlessly scratching Li Li’s chin.
It was so soft and squishy. She had to find out where her father “kidnapped” Big-Faced Cat from. Then she could go pet him on weekends.
“It was near Lantian University, in Sleepless City. We were drinking beer and eating skewers when this little guy came over,” Qiang Ge said, rubbing his stubbly face against Li Li. “This little guy is so social, he’s not afraid of strangers at all. You can pet him however you like.”
“I can see that, and he has a good temper too.” The girl laughed, pinching Li Li’s big round face. “He doesn’t even get angry when you pinch his face. I wonder whose Big-Faced Cat this is?”
“Indeed, someone who can raise such a good cat must love him very much.” Qiang Ge nodded.
“I said, you two father and daughter, are you going to talk about cats there and not eat?” At this moment, the woman’s voice came from the kitchen. These two were really cut from the same cloth.
They were just talking, and they didn’t even want to eat anymore.
