The Demon King and the Hero’s Border Life – Chapter 81

Ch 81: The Curtain Falls

Ch 81: The Curtain Falls

Bal and his group looked up at the sound, a richly dressed Man accompanied by a group of elite Soldiers burst into the Basement, followed by five people wearing ornate Magic Robes.

“Trespassing in the Royal City and committing murder without cause, you are incredibly bold. These are not ordinary thugs; we must take strong action!”

At the Man’s command, everyone around him drew their Weapons to apprehend Bal and his companions.

“Help me stall for time, please.”

William asked Bal and Phia to buy him time; he needed to rescue Kodori, whose condition didn’t allow for any further delay.

Phia then attempted to use Teleportation Magic to move everyone, but she found a force resisting her attempt.

“Hmph, trying to escape? I specifically dispatched five Grand Archmages to erect an Anti-Magic Barrier; you won’t get away!”

Seeing that they could only face the situation head-on, Bal raised his Long Sword, and Phia also drew a Spear from Extradimensional Space; they prepared to break through the encirclement.

Upon seeing Bal and Phia armed, the Soldiers immediately charged, intending to kill the rebels. Bal dodged the first person’s slash, then threw a Knife, piercing the gap in the man’s Armor. The man’s legs buckled, and he knelt on the ground weakly. However, Bal couldn’t finish him off; five more fully armored Soldiers stood before him. He then Enhanced himself, charging into the crowd, intending to fight his way out with his Long Sword.

Phia, due to the Barrier, couldn’t use Magic, so she also Enhanced her body, preparing to carve a path with her Spear. Using the Spear’s sharpness, she pierced the gap in the armor of the first heavily armored Soldier she faced. Before the Soldier could react, she pulled out the Spear and used the weighted butt end to strike the Soldier’s head, sending the Soldier’s head and Helmet flying. She turned to look at Bal, finding him entangled with five heavily armored Soldiers. Seeing someone attempting an Ambush from behind, she threw her Spear. The piercing sound of the Spear, thrown with great force, echoed through the Room. The person trying to ambush Bal was firmly nailed to the wall by Phia’s Spear. Seeing Phia weaponless, three heavily armored Soldiers surrounded her as she tried to retrieve her Spear, constantly swinging their Weapons to force her back.

Seeing Phia weaponless, Bal severed a Soldier’s head, then drew a Short Sword from his waist and threw it at the Soldier in front of Phia. Then, Bal dodged a slash, disarmed a man using his Long Sword’s guard, and ran to the wall to draw the Spear with one hand. He held the Long Sword in his left hand and the Spear in his right, standing before everyone like a war god, his eyes glowing red, reflecting his rage.

Phia retrieved the Short Sword from the Soldier’s head. Using her agile Body Technique, she evaded the pursuit of the remaining two, then flashed behind one and slit their throat. She had only one left, but she saw someone trying to attack William and Kodori. She threw the Short Sword at the attacker’s neck and, using a Joint Lock, broke the wrist of the person in front of her, taking their Weapon and using the captured Long Sword to kill the last one.

Bal parried an Attack, then used the Spear’s side blades to pierce the gaps in the armor. After withdrawing the Spear, he used the Long Sword to deliver a killing blow, his movements smooth and efficient, quickly dispatching all the enemies in front of him.

Bal and Phia approached each other. Bal returned the Spear to Phia, Phia threw the Short Sword to Bal. The two stood side-by-side, ready for the next wave of attacks. They had to buy William time.

William increased his speed, and Kodori’s hair gradually returned to blue.

“You, attack!”

The richly dressed Man ordered the five Magicians behind him to attack. The five drew their Staffs, and after different Chantings, various types of Magic shot out from their Staffs.

Bal used his Long Sword to counter the Magic Attacks, and Phia quickly ran from the side to ambush the Magicians. However, Phia and Bal were a beat too slow; a Fireball passed Bal, flying straight towards William.

“Wait…” “No!”

They watched the Fireball approach, filled with despair. Even William closed his eyes in resignation.

Just as everyone thought William and Kodori were about to die, a gust of wind erupted in front of William. William looked up; it was Kodori, wings spread, wielding the Holy Sword. A hint of red remained in her hair, but her expression was resolute.

“Thank you, Buck, Fei’er. I finally see William again.”

Kodori floated in the air. After thanking the two who were dealing with the Magic, she raised the Holy Sword and unleashed a horizontal Slash.

“Right swing to sever dragons, left swing to slay gods. This is the true power of the Holy Sword Senioris, the power to return all things to Death.”

William knelt on the ground, muttering as he looked at the Holy Sword in Kodori’s hand.

The Magicians struck by the Holy Sword’s horizontal Slash died instantly. Seeing his forces gone, the Man immediately knelt and began to plead.

“Don’t… don’t kill me! I’m the Minister of Military Affairs!”

“You’re the one who needs to die.”

Phia severed the Man’s head with her Spear, then went to Kodori’s side.

“Kodori, are you alright!”

“I’m fine, let’s go, take William with us.”

Bal carried William on his back. He gave William the Short Sword to help him deal with any potential attacks from behind, then Bal and Kodori followed Phia as they quickly ran out of the Royal City. As before, everyone blocking their path was dead.

After leaving the Royal City, Phia could finally use Teleportation Magic. She teleported everyone back to the Inn. After Bal and Kodori packed their Luggage, she used Teleportation Magic again to send the group to the Fairy Warehouse in the Sky City.

“We’re finally back.”

William looked at the familiar scene before him. He took Kodori’s hand and returned to the Room he knew so well, the Room where Kodori had been staying recently. Seeing this, Bal and Phia returned to their own Rooms. After Phia adjusted the temperature, she and Bal changed their Clothes and went to sleep. Tonight was destined to be a wonderful night, for only the four of them.

The next morning, William knocked on Bal’s door.

“Wait, changing Clothes.”

After Bal and Phia changed their Clothes, he opened the door and let William in.

“Bal, you’ve grown quite a bit.”

William smiled wryly at Bal. He recalled Bal’s youthful appearance when he had departed for battle; now, he was a resolute Man.

After Bal and William reminisced, Phia raised her question.

“Kodori? Is she still asleep?”

Sadness flashed in William’s eyes at Phia’s question.

“She used the Holy Sword’s power again last night; her personality is nearing collapse.”

“How… how could this happen!”

Phia immediately rushed to Kodori’s Room; Kodori’s hair was almost entirely red. Phia collapsed onto the floor, powerless.

“This isn’t how it should be… this shouldn’t be the ending!”

Phia’s Magic Fluctuation surged, and various colored Lights filled the Room. William and Bal stood behind Phia. They too desperately hoped Kodori could live.

After exhausting all her Magic, Phia cried, leaning on Kodori’s bed. Although she had faced countless deaths and partings, she still didn’t want her friend to leave with regrets.

William patted Phia on the shoulder.

“I have another way; it can preserve her life, but there will be Side Effects.”

“What is it?”

Phia grasped at the hope, turning to William.

“Erase her Memories and Seal her power. Her current state has occurred before; she once asked Ailu Ke and her Past Life to survive at the cost of losing their memories and powers. I believe it should work this time as well.”

Hearing William’s words, Phia wiped away her tears, looking at William with concern.

“What about you?”

“I believe in her, and I believe in you.”

Phia was silent for a long time, then she used Magic again, erasing Kodori’s past Memories and Sealing her power, severing her connection to the Holy Sword.

After finishing, the three watched over Kodori. Phia was surprised to find Kodori’s hair turning back to blue.

An hour later, Kodori woke up. She looked at the strangers who seemed somewhat familiar, her head aching.

“Who am I? Where am I? And who are you?”

Kodori was very confused, curiously looking at everything. She felt a sense of familiarity but couldn’t place it. William sat beside Kodori, gently stroking her head.

“Hello, my name is William.”

“William?”

“Yes, I’m William. Your name is Kodori.”

“I’m Kodori?”

Seeing Kodori without her memories, Phia choked, tightly grasping Bal’s hand.

“Hello, Miss Kodori. I’m Fei’er, and he’s my Husband, Buck.”

“Hello?”

“Your body is fine now. Rest well; we’ll go now.”

Phia pulled Bal out of the Room. Although she had many things to say to Kodori, for her peaceful life, she chose to leave, letting William handle the rest.

After a day’s rest, Kodori’s body had recovered. William took her to rekindle their feelings, going to the Mountaintop of a mountain on the Sky Island, looking at the sun above the clouds and the City below.

Bal and Phia silently watched over them from afar.

Seven days later, after confirming that Kodori’s Memories wouldn’t return and her power was completely Sealed, William came to Bal’s Room with the Holy Sword Senioris.

“Please take this sword. It’s no longer important to Kodori and me.”

William handed the sword to Bal. Bal took the Holy Sword, then shook his head.

“It’s not good to keep something so dangerous in our house. You should take it back. Even if it can’t unleash its power, it should still be a suitable self-defense Weapon.”

Bal returned the Holy Sword to William, giving him a Magic Stone as well.

“If anything happens, infuse the Magic Stone with Magic; we’ll come to help immediately.”

“Thank you very much, Bal.”

Bal waved his hand, turning to Phia. Phia looked at William and gave him encouragement.

“Mr. William, please treat Miss Kodori well! Remember to invite us to your Marriage! Goodbye!”

“I will!”

Hearing William’s reply, Phia smiled and activated Teleportation Magic. White Light enveloped the two, leaving only William behind.

“Did Mr. Buck and Miss Fei’er leave?”

Kodori came out wearing an apron.

“Yes, they’ve gone back. Let’s go back too.”

“Okay.”
