Ch 513: The Heroes From Another World, And A Promise To Meet Again
Both sides did not put away their weapons, each person staring at the other. As long as the other side showed the slightest sign of wrong, the battle, which had not yet determined victory or defeat, would begin again.
“Let’s hear your intelligence first, Sebas’s so-called extermination of the Demon King and your identities. You are the newcomers.”
Bal did not choose to explain first. The other party was clearly being used by God’s Country. Gao Wen thought for a moment, then spoke of what he knew.
“We are from Another World, summoned to this world.”
As soon as these words were spoken, Bal’s side was surprised. They had never considered that there were other worlds besides this one. Gao Wen did not pay attention to their expressions; she kept a stern face and continued.
“When we were summoned to this world, the first person we met was Archbishop Sebas. He said we were heroes who would save this world from the Demon King’s invasion.”
“Then why did you come to look for the Divine Child?”
“Archbishop Sebas said that to exterminate the Demon King, three Divine Children are indispensable. God’s Country is currently lacking one Divine Child. They discovered traces of Divine Magic here, so they sent us to find the Divine Child first. Only after finding the Divine Child can we fight against the Demon King, and only then can we return to our world.”
“Tsk, quite harmful.”
Bal muttered under his breath about the people of God’s Country. He knew that was just a made-up excuse from God’s Country, but he didn’t expect these people to believe it so easily.
“So you believed that Archbishop?”
“Yes, he provided us with shelter, food, weapons and equipment, and training. We’re done, your turn.”
Gao Wen stared intently at Bal. For some reason, he had an inexplicable trust in Bal.
“First of all, the Demon King of this world has already been eliminated by a local hero from this world. The Demon Race hasn’t produced a new Demon King for several years. You’ve been deceived. Although I don’t know where God’s Country got the technology to summon people from Otherworlds, I can be certain that God’s Country is not worthy of your trust. They are using you.”
“Hey, old man, do you have any evidence to say that?”
Clova, who was beside them, spoke disrespectfully to Bal, and Phia immediately used Sleep Magic to knock Clova unconscious.
“It’s not your turn to speak. Next time, it won’t be as simple as Sleep Magic. Your name is Gao Wen, right? Control your companions, at least control their words and actions. As a Captain, if you can’t even manage your team, then even if you really go to exterminate the Demon King, you’ll suffer losses because of this.”
Gao Wen helped Clova up from the ground. He pressed on Clova’s carotid artery and checked her breathing. After confirming that Clova was still alive, he handed her to Ona, who was standing beside him.
“Sorry, it was my negligence.”
Although Gao Wen said so, his sharp eyes were still fixed on the three people opposite him. After this little farce ended, Bal continued.
“Let me tell you about the power distribution in this world and the major events that have happened in God’s Country in recent years.”
Bal recounted what he knew and what he had done, making minor adjustments. He didn’t think the other party would believe these things, but whether they believed it or not was their business; he only had a duty to advise. Gao Wen listened to Bal’s intelligence, his expression constantly changing. When he learned about the near war between God’s Country and the Kingdom several years ago and the reasons for the Divine Child’s escape, he was stunned.
“How could this be?”
Bal watched Gao Wen stand there dumbfounded. He knew Gao Wen was likely to believe him outright. At this moment, Bal began to feel that Gao Wen was a bit too naive; he believed whatever others said. No wonder he was being used by God’s Country.
“So what we’re doing now is helping God’s Country do evil? Since the Demon King doesn’t exist, it means we can’t go back?”
“I agree with the first part; you have indeed been used by God’s Country. Their so-called Divine Child is merely a puppet they use to control the narrative. The second part is not necessarily true. Since you were able to come here, there must be a way back, but the conditions are certainly not as simple as killing the Demon King.”
At this time, Garrick, who had been smiling and silent, spoke.
“Excuse me, may I say something?”
He was very elegant. Although Phia felt uncomfortable looking at this person, he hadn’t done anything to harm anyone on her side, so she could only hold back from attacking for now, but she remained vigilant.
“Speak.”
Bal nodded to allow Garrick to speak. Garrick walked to the middle of both sides and began his performance.
“First of all, what evidence do you have for what you’re saying?”
He started with a statement expressing distrust of Bal, but fortunately, Bal’s side did have evidence.
“If you don’t believe it, you can check it up. About three or four years ago, a hero from the Ferenti Kingdom defeated the Demon King. He even destroyed the Demon King’s personal Armor and returned it to the Royal Palace of the Ferenti Kingdom.”
“What happened to that hero later?”
“He encountered a rebellion on the road and died.”
These were things Bal had personally experienced. He was stating the Kingdom’s official account. An unclear look filled Garrick’s cloudy eyes; after a while, he asked again.
“Since you say God’s Country is deceiving us, isn’t it possible that you are also deceiving us?”
Bal was speechless; his kindness had been repaid with ingratitude.
“If you’re going to start a chain of suspicion here, I won’t say anything, but think carefully, do you really think a Divine Child can change anything? Does so-called Divine Magic really exist?”
It certainly existed, but Bal didn’t want to sell Nia out.
“Hmm~ That’s a problem indeed.”
Garrick’s drawn-out tone made Bal feel disgusted.
“Let me confirm this again. The Demon King is dead, and the Divine Child is unimportant, right?”
“Why would I deceive you people from Another World? What benefit would that be to us? We are just small people who live in seclusion, praying for a little peace.”
“Indeed, I was narrow-minded. I apologize to you all.”
Watching Garrick return to his place, Phia didn’t relax. Gao Wen spoke next, clearly wavering.
“I can’t yet confirm whether what you said is true or whether Archbishop Sebas is telling the truth. Let’s make an agreement? We’ll meet here again in a month. We need to go back and verify what you said.”
“I still advise you not to go to the Great Temple. The people in the Great Temple will not tell the truth.”
“I understand.”
“Then see you in a month. We will also help you find a way back during this time.”
“Hmm.”
The first meeting between the two sides ended like this. Bal kept staring at Gao Wen’s group until Phia could no longer detect their presence before they returned using Phia’s Teleportation Magic.
“What do you think of Gao Wen?”
Back home, Bal asked Phia about Gao Wen. Phia thought for a moment and said.
“He’s a righteous person, like a Knight, but he’s too naive. Judging by his age, he shouldn’t be older than twenty. As a Soldier, he’s qualified, but he’s not a qualified leader; at least, he can’t lead those three.”
“Yes, I’m worried about him. I feel that he might suffer betrayal from those people.”
