Ch 33: Clues
Having watched so many videos at the police station, Qin Jin-nian still felt that Ningning’s situation was not right.
Her eyes were very vacant.
Although the police said they didn’t see anything wrong, Qin Jin-nian really couldn’t help but care.
The reason was simple.
Just yesterday, he had seen a person… with the same expression.
The Evil Youth.
In Qin Jin-nian’s view, the states of the two of them were very similar.
But unfortunately, in the video, Qin Jin-nian’s eyes couldn’t possibly see… whether there was black mist surging on Ningning’s head.
Therefore, he had to come to the scene.
Although he wasn’t sure if he would find anything by coming to the scene.
But now it seemed…
He was right to come.
Because at a glance, he saw an extraordinary scene… On Ningning’s bedside table, there was a faint black mist lingering.
A very thin layer.
But it did exist.
After Qin Jin-nian took a deep look at the black mist, he turned his head and glanced at Lin Yun, who was following behind him… Lin Yun looked at Ningning’s bed, tears streaming down her face, obviously thinking of Ningning, and the expression in her eyes was heartbreakingly sad.
And the female teacher next to her was sadly lowering her head, with guilt and unease.
…They obviously didn’t see the black mist.
As expected, it was because of the Dark Pupil.
Qin Jin-nian thought, without saying anything, he walked over, lifted Ningning’s quilt, and finally, after lifting the pillow, narrowed his eyes slightly and saw the thing emitting black mist…
It was a uniquely designed brooch, with a smiling sunflower pattern, a plastic product, and a simple and cute design.
The black mist was emanating from this thing.
This almost instantly made Qin Jin-nian associate it with the Black Card… But upon closer inspection, he found that the black mist on this brooch was very shallow, and far less ‘solid’ than the black mist on the Black Card, as if it would dissipate completely very soon.
“Is this Ningning’s?” Qin Jin-nian picked up the brooch and asked Lin Yun.
A trace of confusion flashed in Lin Yun’s eyes, and after looking at it, she shook her head blankly: “I haven’t seen it…”
“It’s Ningning’s.”
Teacher Wang quickly spoke at this moment: “Ningning performed very well at school. This was the award given by the school for the ‘Sunflower Baby’ this morning.”
“Who gave it? Besides Ningning, did any other children receive this award?”
This question made Teacher Wang somewhat bewildered: “The Sunflower Baby is selected once every week, by class, and then similar small toys are distributed… I gave it to Ningning… This, is there a problem?”
Teacher Wang’s expression was a little timid as she asked.
“Was the selection of who gets the award also decided by the homeroom teacher? Does it need to be reported to the kindergarten before the selection?” Qin Jin-nian didn’t answer her, but thought for a moment and asked another question.
Teacher Wang was even more bewildered, but she still subconsciously replied: “It needs to be communicated with the kindergarten in advance. Although it’s just a selection between children, there’s no substantial benefit… But the kindergarten, in order to encourage the children, will cooperate in producing some small bulletin boards and other things for publicity. So the list will be reported to the kindergarten in advance… This brooch, what’s wrong?”
Seeing that Qin Jin-nian kept asking about the brooch, Lin Yun also raised her head: “Xiao Nian, this brooch… is there a problem?”
Qin Jin-nian looked at Lin Yun, didn’t say much, casually put the pin away, and shook his head: “Nothing, just curious… Let’s go and take a look at the video surveillance.”
Seeing that he hadn’t found any clues, Lin Yun was a little disappointed, but still nodded. Immediately, Teacher Wang took Qin Jin-nian and Lin Yun, along the path Ningning took in the video today, out of the student dormitory, and all the way to the last location where she disappeared.
This was on the left side of the teaching building. In the last video, after Ningning turned right past the teaching building, she disappeared from the video. And she completely lost track.
The sky was already dark, and the side of the teaching building looked even more gloomy. The distance from the surrounding wall was only one meter wide. Although few people came here, it was still cleaned very cleanly. The drainpipe on the upper floor also extended here.
Qin Jin-nian looked around. The surrounding wall was three or four meters high, and it was difficult for ordinary adults to climb over… Of course, those with cultivation could certainly do it easily.
“What’s outside the wall? Is there any surveillance?” Qin Jin-nian asked after looking around.
“Outside the wall is an old alley, there’s no surveillance.” Teacher Wang replied, and then quickly said: “But Ningning couldn’t have climbed over the wall from here.”
A five-year-old child, naturally, couldn’t climb over the wall by herself.
But now Qin Jin-nian was almost certain that Ningning definitely didn’t get lost by herself, but it was a kidnapping case specifically targeting her… Then, without any accident, Ningning was definitely taken away from here.
The brooch was a big problem.
The Sunflower Baby list would be reported to the kindergarten in advance.
These two points alone were enough to show that the target of the other party was Ningning.
But what Qin Jin-nian didn’t understand was… With such a grand gesture, and even using extraordinary objects, to kidnap a little girl… What was the purpose of the person behind it?
From the current contact, Lin Yun was just an ordinary single mother, and there was nothing special about her.
So, it was most likely not targeting Lin Yun.
Then, was it targeting Ningning’s father?
Qin Jin-nian had never asked about Ningning’s father… After all, Lin Yun was a single person with a child, which was obviously a story. And this story was mostly not a happy one. To ask about these things, wouldn’t it be adding insult to injury?
But now, he had to ask.
“Teacher Wang.”
Qin Jin-nian pondered for a moment, then suddenly spoke.
“Ah?” Teacher Wang looked at him blankly.
Qin Jin-nian smiled at her: “I didn’t drink any water after eating just now, I’m a little thirsty now, could you please go and pour me a glass of water?”
“Oh, oh, okay… Ningning’s mother, I’ll get you a glass too.”
Teacher Wang came back to her senses, nodded hurriedly, and said to Lin Yun next to her.
◈◈◈
Lin Yun looked haggard and shook her head: “No need, I’m not thirsty.”
Teacher Wang opened her mouth, but in the end, she didn’t say anything, lowered her head, and quickly left.
Qin Jin-nian watched her walk away, then said: “Sister Yun, such a big thing happened to Ningning… Where’s her father?”
“Her father?”
This sudden question made Lin Yun stunned for a moment. After a moment, her eyes dimmed and she shook her head: “Her father, is already gone.”
“What happened?” Qin Jin-nian asked.
It was supposed to be impolite to ask such a question directly, because it was very offensive.
After all, Lin Yun’s daughter was missing now, and she had also clearly said that her father was already gone. To continue asking, it would be adding insult to injury.
So it made Lin Yun a little confused.
But turning his head and seeing Qin Jin-nian’s very serious expression, she opened her mouth, but in the end, she still lowered her head and simply said a few words.
And after Qin Jin-nian listened to a few words, his eyebrows furrowed.
It wasn’t because her father was so special, but because… it was too ordinary.
This was just an ordinary, and couldn’t be more ordinary, dog-blood story… A young couple met, because they were both of age, and they didn’t have any bad feelings towards each other, so they got married and had a child. Then, on an ordinary day, because of an accident, the man passed away. The man’s parents rarely inquired about the woman because she gave birth to a daughter. After the man passed away, the woman lived a difficult life alone with the child…
This kind of story, there were countless in his previous life.
But this ordinary story made Qin Jin-nian’s eyebrows furrow.
Because this showed that the other party’s purpose wasn’t for Ningning’s father…
Was it really targeting Ningning herself?
But…
Why?
…Did a certain wealthy heir have a serious illness, and Ningning’s organ matched?
Qin Jin-nian couldn’t help but furrow his eyebrows, and his mind was even running wild.
After a full moment, until Teacher Wang came over with two glasses of water, Qin Jin-nian came back to his senses.
After pondering for a moment, Qin Jin-nian said to Lin Yun: “Sister Yun, let’s go out first, there are no clues here, let’s see how the police are doing…”
Lin Yun looked haggard and could only nod. The three of them left the kindergarten together.
After contacting the police at the scene, the answer they got was still no clues. Lin Yun’s whole body was trembling.
“How could this be, how could this be… Ningning, Ningning…”
Qin Jin-nian, however, was calmly observing.
He now had a general direction.
But he didn’t tell the police, nor did he tell Lin Yun.
Finally, after searching for more than an hour, the sky had completely darkened. The police expressed helplessly that they needed to expand the search area.
But this required the cooperation of multiple departments, but many departments had already gone off work today. Even if they continued to search, the hope was not great. So they told Lin Yun to go home and wait for news.
Lin Yun cried her eyes out, but no matter how she begged, after the police sighed, they still got into their cars and left one after another.
Leaving only Lin Yun crying helplessly…
There was no way. The child was lost, and everyone was anxious. Of course, the police also couldn’t wait to find the person immediately.
If there were clues, of course, they would work overtime.
But now, there were no clues at all, so where could they go to find her?
In the end, Qin Jin-nian comforted Lin Yun in a low voice, and finally, he still took Lin Yun into the car. Although the distance wasn’t far, the principal still drove them back to the Tongmuqi Community.
He once again guaranteed that the kindergarten would fully cooperate and help find Ningning, and only then did the principal leave.
Qin Jin-nian then took Lin Yun, who had almost become a walking corpse, back to their floor. Seeing her open the door blankly, but she couldn’t even insert the key, Qin Jin-nian sighed in his heart.
He had clues, but he couldn’t tell Lin Yun now.
He helped open the door and sent Lin Yun home.
“Sister Yun, anything is possible. No matter what, the police are still searching, the kindergarten is also searching, and you can’t give up hope… Otherwise, if Ningning is found, but you give up hope first… What will Ningning do in the future?”
From Lin Yun’s eyes, Qin Jin-nian had already seen despair and the will to die. After a moment of silence, he earnestly admonished Lin Yun… For a single mother, her child was her only spiritual support. If the child was gone, it was the same as killing her.
Lin Yun’s whole body trembled, and in the end, she said in a hoarse voice: “I, I won’t give up. No matter what… To see her alive, to see her dead, dead…”
But the last three words, no matter what, she couldn’t say them anymore. She covered her face and cried helplessly.
Qin Jin-nian comforted her for a while, and after confirming that she had dispelled the will to die, he went back to his own home.
He rummaged through his home, and got himself all dressed up.
A full black hooded coat, standing in front of the mirror, lowering his head, only able to see his thin figure and a pair of black eyes.
He looked from side to side, making sure there were no omissions, Qin Jin-nian opened the door and went out.
Then, in the small supermarket downstairs, he bought a cartoon mask that a child would wear, and secretly tried it on, feeling that it was quite suitable, and only then did he leave the Tongmuqi Community.
All the way, he went towards the kindergarten.
