Ch 15: Perfect Counterattack

Over here, two people were quietly waiting for the show to begin, while over there, Yu Baobao couldn’t wait to rush in and offer herself up as an easy target.

At that moment, Yu Baobao was busy in the kitchen, claiming she was squeezing some fruit juice for everyone to drink, but in reality, she was adding a potion to the juice that could cause neural disruption.

A kitchen servant noticed and spoke up, “Miss, what did you just put in the juice?”

Hearing this, Yu Baobao narrowed her eyes, quickly stepping over to the servant’s side. In a low, chilling tone, she warned, “Don’t look at what you shouldn’t see. Don’t ask what you shouldn’t ask. And don’t meddle in things that aren’t your concern.”

The servant, scared out of their wits, stammered, “I didn’t see anything. This is just a normal bottle of juice.”

Not wanting to waste more time, Yu Baobao turned toward the door, saying as she walked, “It better be as you say, or you know the consequences.”

“Yes, yes. Miss, don’t worry, I know nothing.”

“Good. Then I can rest easy.”

Watching the eldest miss leave the kitchen, the servant didn’t hesitate—packing up their things and immediately requesting leave from the steward.

Meanwhile, Yu Duoduo used the excuse of going to the restroom to slip into the kitchen. She quickly inspected every dish, drink, dessert, and piece of fruit.

Just as she was about to leave, something occurred to her. She turned back and checked all the utensils too, finding no tampering possible there. That meant any mischief would have to be in the food, wine, or drinks.

In the end, Yu Duoduo decided that anything Yu Baobao insistently urged her to eat or drink—especially anything that had passed through her hands—she would avoid entirely.

After finishing her inspection, she casually strolled to the nearby restroom. Inside, Yu Duoduo used her consciousness to enter her space, preparing a highly effective potion for later use.

As Yu Duoduo exited the restroom, she ran right into Yu Baobao, who was heading to the kitchen. Their eyes met, and a flicker of mockery flashed in both their gazes.

Yu Duoduo stepped forward, tugging lightly at Yu Baobao’s sleeve. “Big sister, you’ve worked hard today.”

“Not at all. As the eldest daughter of this household, it’s my duty to entertain the guests.”

Hearing Yu Baobao’s words, Yu Duoduo gave an almost imperceptible smile. “Big sister truly lives up to the upbringing of an aristocratic family, always putting family duty first. But this is something little sister doesn’t need to learn.”

With that, she walked off without so much as a glance back.

Back in the main hall, Yu Duoduo handed out a pill to each of the four people present—everyone except the Zhou Family Head.

“I just got some novel candy—it tastes pretty good. We’re all young people here, so our tastes should be similar. Here, one for each of you to try.”

“Second Uncle, you try it too. This might be the first gift I’ve ever given you, so don’t dislike it.”

Leng Ruoheng and Shi Yichen would eat anything Yu Duoduo gave them without hesitation. Lu Yunjin was purely curious, while Second Uncle Lu Zhengting simply couldn’t bring himself to refuse.

When it came to the Zhou Family Head, Yu Duoduo apologized sincerely, “Sorry, I’ve run out.”

By then, Yu Baobao had returned from the kitchen and learned that Yu Duoduo had been there earlier. But the surveillance showed Yu Duoduo hadn’t done anything—she’d even stayed far from everything.

Yu Baobao chalked it up to Yu Duoduo being curious about what delicious things might be served. In her mind, Yu Duoduo had spent fifteen years on Garbage Star, after all.

Soon, the meal was served, and everyone dug in.

To be fair, the Yu family’s chef wasn’t bad—the food was tolerable. But for someone like Yu Duoduo, accustomed to delicacies, it was still a bit hard to swallow.

Yu Duoduo ate only a little of each dish. Meanwhile, Yu Baobao was wolfing down her food. Once she’d finally satisfied her appetite, she seemed to remember her real purpose.

“Little sister, why aren’t you eating?”

“Not hungry.”

“Then have some juice to whet your appetite. That one by your hand is sweet and sour—perfect for that. Pour some for the second miss.”

Without a word, the servant beside her filled Yu Duoduo’s cup to the brim.

“Well then, thanks for your warm hospitality, big sister.” Taking the cup, Yu Duoduo sipped it slowly, as if sensing something.

Seeing Yu Duoduo’s expression, Yu Baobao smirked. Straight from Garbage Star—never seen anything good before. Sipping that drink like it’s some treasure.

But she didn’t notice that a flush was creeping up her own face. Everyone else just assumed she couldn’t handle her liquor.

After all, among those present, only Yu Duoduo and Lu Yunjin were underage, so they drank beverages while the others had wine.

Lu Yunjin didn’t like fresh juice. Besides, he figured Big Sis Duoduo had suffered so much out there and probably hadn’t tasted fresh juice much, so he decided to leave it all for her.

Midway through, for some reason, the Zhou Family Head asked for a glass of fresh juice too. Before Yu Baobao could warn him, he downed it in one gulp.

After dinner, those who’d had wine were a bit tipsy. Lu Yunjin had no choice but to arrange rooms for everyone with the help of the servants.

Leng Ruoheng and Shi Yichen were completely fine. They’d originally planned to take Yu Duoduo with them, but seeing her eager-to-watch-the-drama expression, they decided to stay too.

The three of them didn’t bother with rooms—they stayed up all night playing games in the hall, joined by Lu Yunjin.

Early the next morning, Yu Duoduo heard Yu Baobao’s furious voice coming from a guest room on the first floor. Then Yu Baobao burst out, scantily clad.

The four curious onlookers had rushed to the door at the sound and caught an eyeful of the scene inside. The Zhou Family Head and another man were scrambling to put on their combat armor.

When Yu Baobao saw the four at the door, she realized she wasn’t wearing armor either. Lu Yunjin and the others belatedly turned around.

Yu Duoduo eyed the marks on Yu Baobao’s body and clicked her tongue. Pretty intense!

The two men, seeing this, hurriedly pulled Yu Baobao back into the room. After that, Yu Duoduo couldn’t hear a thing—the room’s soundproofing was too good! But that didn’t stop her from pressing her ear to the door to eavesdrop.

Though most of it was inaudible, she could faintly catch a few snippets of arguing.

Soon, all four of them were lined up, ears pressed to the door, listening in.

When Yu Yao and Lu Zhengting came downstairs, they were greeted by this exact scene—none of them had even shifted their positions.

“What are you all doing?” Yu Yao’s single question snapped the four eavesdroppers out of it.

“Mom, let me tell you, it’s wild in there. Last night, big sister was with the Zhou Family Head and that guy he brought—three of them together…”

Before Lu Yunjin could finish, Lu Zhengting smacked him on the head.

“Ow, that hurts! Dad, why’d you hit me?” The sudden pain made Lu Yunjin yelp, alerting the people inside.

As soon as Yu Baobao opened the door and saw the six people outside, her barely regained composure shattered again. With a wail, she threw herself into Yu Yao’s arms.

“Baobao, what’s wrong? Who bullied you? Tell Mommy, and I’ll deal with them for you.”

The four beside them looked on curiously, waiting for the main player to reveal the answer.
