Ch 30: S-Class Exotic Beast
As a result, without anyone noticing, the Star Network quietly entered a mode of intense self-improvement. Everyone began to carve out time to train, and many who had previously abandoned their cultivation due to work picked it up again.
Because of this, quite a few people broke through bottlenecks that had held them back for years. The imperial family of the empire was delighted to see this phenomenon unfold.
That evening, seeing everyone else training, Yu Duoduo took the initiative to handle the night watch. She also packed up the tent and repositioned it, this time placing all of them inside.
The so-called tent was actually a high-tech portable house. It could be easily folded and unfolded, with its size adjustable as needed.
During the night, Yu Duoduo stood guard outside alone. She swiftly activated her mental power, extending it outward and controlling its range to within a radius of one thousand meters. Within this area, she could instantly detect any slight movement or rustle.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Yu Duoduo planted the new plants she had acquired that day into her space and checked on the changes within it.
Out of boredom, Yu Duoduo chatted intermittently with System Tutu. Without this distraction, she worried she might accidentally fall asleep.
As they talked, System Tutu suddenly fell silent, and Yu Duoduo immediately sensed something was wrong. She stretched her mental power further and finally detected an S-class exotic beast.
At that moment, the S-class exotic beast was only 1,500 meters away from their camp. Yu Duoduo quickly entered the tent, checked on everyone’s condition, and noted that their energy was nearly depleted from absorption. They were all focused on stabilizing it, wary of an energy overload.
After confirming everyone’s status, Yu Duoduo breathed a sigh of relief and boldly called out.
“Everyone, wake up! An S-class exotic beast is approaching. Please prepare for battle.”
Upon hearing Yu Duoduo’s words, all seven of them snapped their eyes open, quickly adjusted their states, packed their gear, and readied themselves for combat.
Among them, Lezheng Kexi had the strongest mental power. He released his mental energy and soon spotted the S-class exotic beast, now just 500 meters from the camp.
The group looked to Lezheng Kexi, who nodded at Nan Yangyuan. “Right now, I can see an S-class exotic beast charging toward us. It’s about 400 meters away—less than a minute until it reaches us.”
By then, the others also sensed the beast closing in. But when it appeared, Yu Duoduo was surprised to see Lezheng Kexi and Ye Jingcheng take the lead in attacking, with the rest following suit.
To Yu Duoduo, this S-class exotic beast resembled a rhinoceros from Blue Star, with tough, thick skin and two unevenly sized horns on its snout. Its body, however, was ten times the size of a Blue Star rhino.
It attacked solely with the sharp horns on its snout, which were incredibly keen. Each thrust forward felled a tree. Despite its massive frame, it moved with startling agility.
This was Yu Duoduo’s first time seeing them use their abilities. She realized Lezheng Kexi and Yi Bai wielded fire-based powers, Nan Yangyuan had earth-based abilities, Bai Xuekai controlled ice, while Ye Jingcheng and Yan Pinxuan both used blades formed from their powers. Yu Duoduo couldn’t quite tell if they were wind blades or spatial blades. As for Mi Jiayu, she couldn’t discern his ability at all—or whether he even had one.
In an instant, fireballs, earth clumps, ice needles, and blades filled the air. Yu Duoduo watched, dazzled, almost convinced she was witnessing a scene from a cultivation movie.
She had seen others use abilities before, including group attacks, but those were orderly and coordinated. This, however, was chaotic and disorganized.
Yu Duoduo initially wanted to step in and offer advice, but then she heard Nan Yangyuan’s voice.
“A Cheng, Xiao Kai, and Yan Pinxuan, target the beast’s eyes. Xiao Xi and Xiao Bai, disrupt its movements. I’ll try to pin it down. Xiao Yu, once I’ve immobilized it, go for its throat.”
Yu Duoduo then saw flashes of light as the beast’s eyes were struck, enraging it further.
Next, a barrage of fireballs, big and small, rained down on the beast, intermittently hitting it and slowing its advance.
Soon, one of the beast’s legs was encased in earth, immobilizing it. Mi Jiayu stepped forward with a particle blade and thrust it into the beast’s neck.
The beast roared in pain and flung Mi Jiayu aside with a violent shake. Seeing this, Yu Duoduo didn’t hesitate—she rushed forward and caught him.
Lezheng Kexi charged in, aiming to strike again, but he couldn’t get close to the beast.
Seeing the situation, Mi Jiayu pulled out another particle blade, struck the beast once more, and quickly retreated.
The others continued their assault. The beast’s remaining uninjured eye was pierced, and Mi Jiayu, now recovered, stepped in again. With great effort, he yanked both particle blades free, causing blood to gush out.
Yu Duoduo thought it a shame to waste such a valuable resource and moved to collect the blood in a container. But Mi Jiayu beat her to it, pulling an oversized utensil from his space button to catch the beast’s blood.
Once the blood stopped flowing, Lezheng Kexi stepped forward and delivered a final blow. This time, the beast’s breath ceased, and its body collapsed.
Looking at the seven of them, they were utterly exhausted—especially Nan Yangyuan, whose face was pale, sweat beading densely on his forehead.
Unable to hold on any longer, they all slumped to the ground in a disheveled heap.
Seeing this, Yu Duoduo didn’t say much. She handed out pieces of pineapple she had prepared earlier, along with other fruits from her space, and poured each of them a cup of water mixed with spirit spring water.
It was everyone’s first encounter with an S-class exotic beast—especially a highly defensive “rhinoceros.” With their abilities drained, they eagerly devoured the food, hoping to replenish some energy.
The more they ate, the more they craved. Yu Duoduo didn’t stop them, refilling their portions as they finished. She then stood guard over them.
After eating, their bodies, overwhelmed by fatigue, gave in, and they fell asleep.
As the seven slipped into deep sleep, Yu Duoduo checked each of their pulses and conditions. Finding no abnormalities—just deep rest—she finally relaxed.
Since she was on night watch and couldn’t afford to lose focus by entering the system to study, Yu Duoduo grew bored. Looking at the massive S-class exotic beast and her sprawled-out teammates, she decided to take the chance to butcher the beast and cook a pot of exotic beast meat porridge for everyone.
She set to work with practiced efficiency, breaking down the beast and pulling out cooking utensils. After three or four star hours of fierce effort, she finally got the porridge simmering.
At that moment, Yu Duoduo was unaware that the Five Senses Sharing feature in the Duoduo Team’s live broadcast room had been activated. The audience was now entranced by the aroma wafting through their screens.
What they didn’t know was that a video of their battle from the previous night had been uploaded to the Star Network by someone with ulterior motives, stirring up a storm of controversy online.
Meanwhile, Yu Duoduo patiently awaited the arrival of dawn.
