Ch 68: Past Events
Qiao Rong thought, money should definitely be spent like this. If she doesn’t please them, she’ll be finished sooner or later.
After shopping with Ye Mei, Qiao Rong felt a little tired. She had been out all day. Originally, she should have gone back already, but she ran into Ye Mei and accompanied her for another round of shopping.
“Aunt Ye, let’s go get something to drink.”
Qiao Rong pulled Ye Mei to a restaurant specializing in afternoon tea next door. She ordered milk tea and cake, and chatted with Ye Mei casually.
“You look much more energetic, Aunt Ye. Is your health much better?” Actually, she had asked the doctor privately. The doctor said that at this stage, after the surgery, Ye Mei could basically live like a normal person, except that she occasionally had to be careful not to exercise, stay up late, or do things that would drain her body.
Ye Mei nodded. She smiled and said, “I feel much better after the surgery. I don’t have to go to the hospital all the time, and I can still do some handicrafts. Thank you, Rongrong.”
She no longer had any prejudice against Qiao Rong. Instead, she felt that she owed Qiao Rong a lot of favors.
She wondered when she would be able to repay these favors.
The two chatted about many things. Qiao Rong told Ye Mei about what happened at school.
She also talked about Fu Beijun: “Aunt Ye, did you know that Beijun is very popular with girls at school? Many girls like him.”
Ye Mei listened to Qiao Rong talking about Fu Beijun’s life at school with a smile.
That was a side of her son’s life that she didn’t know.
But she could probably guess that Fu Beijun had good grades and was sensible and polite to his classmates and teachers. He was a good kid.
At least, every time the teacher came to visit or called Fu De to talk about Fu Beijun, they said similar things.
However, what she heard from the teacher was a little different from what she heard from his classmates.
“Beijun probably doesn’t like those girls.” Ye Mei asked with a smile.
“Maybe.” Qiao Rong said. She suddenly thought of Song Ranran. She wasn’t sure whether Fu Beijun liked Song Ranran at this stage.
But there was no doubt that they were childhood sweethearts.
He should like her to some extent, Qiao Rong thought.
As soon as she thought of Song Ranran, her gossiping soul couldn’t help but burn. Why not try to find out from Fu Beijun’s mother?
“Aunt Ye, do you know Song Ranran?” Qiao Rong asked.
“Yes, that girl is also very good. She’s especially cheerful and sensible. She’s known Beijun for many years.”
“Are Beijun’s feelings for her special?” Qiao Rong asked. Realizing that her question was a bit abrupt, she added, “I rarely see him being close to other girls, but he seems to be a little different with her. They must be very good friends.”
At this stage, early romance would make parents uneasy. She was afraid that she would accidentally lead the conversation to early romance, which would make Ye Mei worry.
“Yes, they have been classmates since elementary school. Back then, Beijun was often bullied by his classmates, and that girl helped Beijun a lot.”
Fu Beijun used to be bullied by others? Qiao Rong found it a little unbelievable.
Although he is bullied now, he secretly retaliates.
Moreover, Fu Beijun looked quite cute when he was a child. There was no reason for him to be bullied.
Ye Mei was a little sad when she said this.
“Beijun wasn’t like this before. He would cry and make a fuss, but later, after being bullied by those bad kids at school, he gradually became less talkative.” At this point, Ye Mei sighed, “At first, he was afraid that we would worry, so he wouldn’t tell us. When we came back and saw his face was bruised and swollen, he said that he had accidentally fallen. It wasn’t until one day that the teacher told us that Beijun was fighting at school and asked us to go over that we found out that those bad kids had been bullying Beijun.”
The smile on Qiao Rong’s lips gradually disappeared. The Great Demon King was so pitiful when he was a child?
She took a sip of milk tea. It tasted sweet, but she felt a little uncomfortable.

“At that time, Ranran came out to testify, saying that she saw those classmates bullying Beijun, so he fought back. It wasn’t that Beijun was fighting with them, as they said.” Ye Mei smiled as she spoke, “Later, they became friends, went to the same school, and studied in the same class.”
So that’s how it was.
These plots were only briefly mentioned in the novel. After all, Fu Beijun wasn’t the protagonist, so the author wouldn’t waste too much ink on him.
From Ye Mei’s words, it could be seen that Fu Beijun really cherished his family. No wonder Fu Beijun went crazy and retaliated against the original owner after Ye Mei had an accident.
Thinking of this, Qiao Rong was a little uneasy.
She looked at Ye Mei, who was smiling so gently that she seemed to be melting into water. This woman was so kind and amiable, she really couldn’t have an accident.
“Rongrong, did you know that Beijun also considers you a friend?”
Qiao Rong was stunned. What did she mean?
How could she and Fu Beijun be friends? Heh, that guy was sinister and scheming, with his mind full of calculations.
The thought that she had tried so hard to please him, but in the end, he said that her pleasing was nothing, made her angry.
“Really, he rarely gets along with girls like this.” Ye Mei said.
That day, Qiao Rong came to their house for dinner. She asked Fu Beijun to send Qiao Rong away. Fu Beijun naturally sent Qiao Rong out, and the two walked side by side, without much distance between them, looking like familiar friends.
She understood her son. If they weren’t on good terms, it was impossible for him to keep such a close distance with someone.
Qiao Rong didn’t understand what Ye Mei meant. She curled her lips. What friends? She couldn’t afford to associate with him. She only hoped that Fu Beijun wouldn’t trouble her anymore.
After eating, Qiao Rong took the initiative to offer to send Ye Mei home, and then she went home.
She was planning where to go for the winter vacation, wondering if she should go somewhere far away to temporarily stay away from the protagonist group.
But she was worried that if she wasn’t here, the Qiao family would accidentally trigger the plot.
Alas, she felt a little melancholy.
Ye Mei returned home, tidied up her things, and soon, Song Ranran came.
“Auntie, this is the millet cake my mother made. She asked me to bring it to you to try.” Song Ranran handed a bag of pastries to Ye Mei.
“Thank you, Ranran. You’re so thoughtful.” Ye Mei took it and asked Song Ranran to sit down. She went to pour tea for Song Ranran.
Song Ranran came here with a purpose, so naturally she wouldn’t leave so easily.
She pretended to chat with Ye Mei about everyday matters.
“Auntie, did you go shopping? You bought so many things.”
“I just bought two pieces of clothing for Beijun.” Ye Mei said.
“Can I take a look?” Song Ranran asked curiously.
“Sure.” Ye Mei handed the clothes to Song Ranran.
