Chapter 249: Shocking Rewards
Every increase in Owen’s Progress Value Limit represented a qualitative change. From the initial “Age of Empires” and “Mount & Blade” with minimal Mysticism, to “Witcher,” “Demon Hunter,” and “Hogwarts,” the inherent Mysticism gradually increased, providing him with greater assistance and influence.
Now, with his Progress Value Limit reaching 50%, fully unlocked games included “Onmyoji,” “3×3 Eyes,” and portions of “Heroes of Might and Magic” and “Elden Ring,” filling Owen with anticipation for the future.
In terms of Mysticism Limit, “Heroes of Might and Magic” and “Elden Ring” were no less mystical than this world, at least the world he currently understood.
However, the true realm of gods likely awaited him beyond the 50% Progress Value Limit. Only by stepping into the divine realm could Owen truly secure his footing.
For now, Owen didn’t want to dwell on the conditions for the next breakthrough. He decided to check out his rewards.
The four rewards granted with each Progress Value Limit breakthrough were always the most anticipated moment for Owen. This time was no exception. A single glance was enough to make him gasp in shock. They were truly good things.
10 Abyssal Demons, Diablo Druid Class, Intelligence Enhancement, Godslayer Greatsword.
Abyssal Demons, the 6th-tier unit from the Inferno faction in “Heroes of Might and Magic.” Though called demons, they were actually devils. Despite their fierce appearance, akin to Red Dragon Berserkers, they were masters of both magic and martial arts. In melee, they wielded greatswords for decapitation; at range, they possessed a formidable fireball spell. They could even discern enemy weaknesses. Each one possessed legendary combat power. The only problem was they couldn’t easily enter the Material Plane; prolonged stays would lead to rejection.
What was the Material Plane? It generally referred to any place besides the Abyss, Hell, or the Void. It actually meant the world’s interior.
Hell was the stomach, the Abyss was the intestines, devils and demons were the digestive fluids and bacteria within.
The problem was, while they were probiotics within the stomach and intestines, if they entered other organs, they would be fatal.
Therefore, every world instinctively rejected foreign entities, especially devils and demons.
Although the Abyssal Demons in Owen’s possession originated from a game, after materializing, they naturally had to conform to the current world’s rules. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be warping reality, but modifying the rules themselves.
So, although he had gained ten powerful henchmen, Owen could only keep the Abyssal Demons within his Domain, preventing them from being rejected by the world.
Next came a slight disappointment. Compared to a class, Owen would have preferred the Angel-Demon Hybrid from Diablo.
While the classes in Diablo weren’t weak—after all, being able to kill angels and demons meant they couldn’t be that weak—compared to the Angel-Demon Hybrid with its limitless potential, the latter was a truly valuable treasure.
However, something was better than nothing. Owen, already possessing a multitude of classes, didn’t mind adding the Druid class to his repertoire.
Only after integrating the Druid class did Owen realize he had underestimated this class originating from a world of gods and demons. It was truly worthy of being a class that battled against gods and demons. Its core had touched upon the Laws, its theoretical limit surpassed even demigods, and most importantly, it granted him the monster-slaying and leveling system he had been yearning for.
As expected, Owen’s attribute panel underwent a change. But he would deal with the remaining two rewards first.
Intelligence Enhancement, like Mysticism, also came from “Heroes of Might and Magic.” Activating it felt like a sudden enlightenment, a surge of inspiration. To say it was merely “thinking on one’s feet” was an understatement. The only problem was his hardware couldn’t keep up.
Intelligence Enhancement was essentially overclocking, forcibly activating undeveloped areas of the brain. It was like adding more servers, naturally increasing processing power.
Moreover, frequent use would further increase brain development, theoretically reaching 100% and bearing the Fruit of Wisdom.
However, it wasn’t without drawbacks. The strain on his hardware was immense. Short bursts were fine, but prolonged use might cause his brain to overheat. It also consumed a lot of mental energy, so he had to use it sparingly.
The final reward, the Godslayer Greatsword, originated from “Elden Ring.” It was a sword with a rather peculiar design. The upper half of the blade was split and twisted several times, lacking an edge. It could be called a staff or an art piece, just not a sword.
Yet, it was a sword. Its edge was black flame. When wielded, black flames surged like hellfire, incinerating everything in its path. Its damage was astonishing.
Owen felt the Black Flame this sword unleashed resembled Fiendfyre from Hogwarts, but with even greater damage, affecting matter, flesh, and soul alike.
Its power was excessive, especially the darkness it contained, which was like an abyss. Even as the sword’s owner, with the system’s guarantee, Owen still felt a strong sense of crisis, as if holding a lit fuse. Clearly, his current strength was far from matching the sword’s power, hence his instincts trembled in warning.
“This thing is practically a divine artifact.” Owen carefully placed the sword within his Domain. The Dragon Mother, who was cautiously observing the Abyssal Demons, inwardly wailed, “Not again!”
Originally, the entire Domain was the Dragon Mother’s cozy nest. Now, not only were there a bunch of devils, but also a god-slaying sword. Her stress levels were through the roof.
Owen, who had initially planned to leave, paused. He began modifying his Domain, as a sort of employee benefit. After all, the Dragon Mother was still in her developmental stage. It would take time for her to reach her full potential. Her treatment during this period couldn’t be neglected.
Absorbing a minor divine realm hadn’t significantly increased the Domain’s size. After all, the difference in quality was too great. However, it had made the Domain more substantial. Now, he divided the Domain into three layers. The bottom layer was the Dragon Mother’s nest, similar in size to the Mother Goddess of the Mountains’ divine realm.
The second layer, due to the presence of the sword, was filled with black flames. The Abyssal Demons, however, loved this environment and were tasked with guarding it.
The top layer was for Owen’s daily use. This way, if he encountered an unbeatable enemy, he could first deploy his Domain, then release the Abyssal Demons and the Dragon Mother, finally drawing the sword to finish off the enemy, leaving not even ashes behind.
Only then did Owen have the mood to check out his new attribute panel.
