Chapter 44: Things Don’t Go as Planned, Time to Run
“Da Jin, don’t be afraid, no one’s giving you a shot. We’re going home soon, don’t be scared.” The woman whose leg was being hugged comforted her dog, thinking that Da Jin saw the doctor coming out and was frightened again.
“Woof woof~ (I’m not afraid of shots, it’s that scary cat that came. )” Da Jin trembled, burying his whole head in the woman’s leg. “Woof woof~ (Can’t see me, can’t see me……)”
“Hello, Nurse, may I ask where the doctor is? I have a cat here that’s seriously injured and needs surgery immediately.” A Liang, holding San Hua, didn’t notice that his arrival had caused a Golden Retriever to tremble in fear. He was currently asking the nurse for help.
“The doctor is right next door, what can I do for you?” The nurse replied, her eyes looking at the calico cat in his arms.
“This cat’s belly is ripped open, you can see its internal organs. The situation is very dangerous.” A Liang replied briefly.
“Is that so? Then please follow me to the emergency room.” The nurse said upon hearing this, leading A Liang to the emergency room at the back.
As A Liang’s scent dissipated, the Golden Retriever cautiously opened his eyes. When he found that the terrifying creature was gone, he quickly got up and ran away.
“Da Jin, slow down, why are you in such a hurry?” Seeing Da Jin suddenly stand up, the woman scolded him with a smile and caught up.
“Woof woof~ (If I didn’t hurry, I’d get beaten up, Master. )” Da Jin said as he ran out of the hospital, finally letting out a sigh of relief.
“Tap, tap, tap~”
On the bustling streets at night, Li Li looked around for a while before continuing to walk forward. According to his memories from last night and this morning, the way back should be right here.
Li Li walked while taking note of his surroundings.
“Big-Faced Cat, where are you going?” After Li Li had walked three or four kilometers, a surprised voice came.
Li Li turned his head and saw a familiar figure in front of him, and then the whole cat was picked up.
“Yue Yue, is this your cat? He’s so big and fat.”
“Yeah, but he’s so cute.”
The female junior high school students, carrying their backpacks, surrounded Li Li and talked. Each one of them reached out to pet him.
It was the first time they had seen a tabby cat with such a fat face and such a large body.
“Meow meow~ (It seems I’m on the right track, but I didn’t expect to meet them here. )” Li Li, being petted, muttered in the other person’s arms. But this was good, going back with them would help him deepen his impression of this area.
“Big-Faced Cat is not my cat, he was brought back by my dad when he was drunk.” Yue Yue explained, holding Li Li. “If Big-Faced Cat was my cat, I wouldn’t let him run around like this.”
“Is that so? So Big-Faced Cat is a stray cat.”
“Yeah, why don’t you let me take him back? My family is planning to get a cat.”
Upon hearing this, the girls started talking all at once. One girl with short hair pinched Li Li’s big round face and said, “Big-Faced Cat, do you want to come home with me? My house is very big.”
“Meow meow~ (No, I don’t even know you. Why would I go home with you? I never go to strangers’ houses. )” Li Li shrank back into Yue Yue’s arms upon hearing this.
He was not a kitten anymore, why would he run to someone else’s house? He wouldn’t even know how he was killed.
If he wanted to freeload, he should at least go to someone he knew, right?
“Big-Faced Cat wouldn’t go to your house, look how much he likes me.” Hearing this, Yue Yue tightened her hold on Li Li and said, “Why don’t we just go our separate ways and go home early? I’m taking Big-Faced Cat home for dinner.”
They were all good sisters, how could they be eyeing her Big-Faced Cat? Could they still communicate properly?
“Yue Yue, you’re being too selfish. How can you just leave with the cat?”
“Yeah, we want to play with Big-Faced Cat too.”
“Right, right, we’ll go home with you and sit for a while.”
Hearing this, the girls chirped in agreement.
But the next second, Li Li ran away from Yue Yue’s arms.
He was going to freeload, not to be someone’s plaything.
So many freeloaders petting him required extra payment. Besides, with so many of them talking, his head was buzzing. He’d better go next time.
Otherwise, it would be a waste of time.
“Big-Faced Cat, don’t run away. I’ll take you home to eat meat.” Yue Yue shouted, not expecting Big-Faced Cat to suddenly run away.
He was so well-behaved in her arms, it must have been them who scared him away.
“Big-Faced Cat ran away, should we chase him?” Looking at Li Li disappearing into the crowd, the girl with short hair asked.
“We probably don’t need to chase him, he runs so fast, he’s out of sight in a flash.”
“Yeah, let’s keep shopping.”
The other girls looked and said.
“You guys go ahead, I’m going home.” Yue Yue said, turning and leaving.
For the first time, she realized that her good sisters were not so good.
“Yue Yue, don’t be angry, we didn’t mean to.”
“Yeah, we didn’t expect Big-Faced Cat to run away.”
Seeing this, the other girls immediately followed and started to comfort her.
On the other side, Li Li, who had run away, was walking back home with small steps.
It was a bit of a headache that he had come all this way for nothing, but at least he had eaten his fill this afternoon. It wasn’t like he had to have an extra meal tonight.
Besides, he didn’t go home to sleep last night, he had to go home tonight and see how his owner’s job search was going.
“Li Li, you’re back? I have good news for you, I found a job.” Li Li, who had spent tens of minutes getting home, was lifted up as soon as he entered. It was Li Hao, wearing a suit and tie.
Seeing his cheerful look, Li Li was slightly stunned. But he was still happy for him. No matter what kind of job he had found, at least he had changed from his disheveled and unshaven look, which proved that he had really gotten over his heartbreak.
“Li Li, do you know? Today I went to six companies, and three of them wanted me in the end. After careful consideration, I finally chose to go into real estate.” Li Hao said as he held Li Li and sat on the sofa. “The company offered me a base salary of 2,800 yuan, and a commission of 20,000 yuan for each deal I close. As long as I can close one deal a month, we’ll have no worries about food and drink.”
“And as long as I’m in this business, I can also get in touch with many good houses, which will make it easier to buy a house in the future, and then we’ll have our own home.”
