Chapter 7: Life Is Often Not Smooth Sailing
“Alright, everyone can come back later to see Big Fat Raccoon Cat. I’ll take you all to see the dormitories now.”
“Our academy is very large, it’s really hard to explain in a short time.” Seeing this, the Senior Student said and led the group away.
“Meow meow~ (These hundreds of people should have left something behind before leaving. Why did they all run away? Did this cat beg for nothing here? )” Looking at the mighty crowd leaving, Li Li couldn’t help but mutter.
Then he blinked his cute big eyes, his gaze fixed on the passing students.
His main strategy was random begging, to see if any kind-hearted Big Sister or Big Brother would offer him a bite to eat.
“Big Fat Raccoon Cat, why did you come to the cafeteria entrance today? Look at you, how long has it been since you’ve eaten?”
Soon, the first investor appeared.
The girl wearing glasses looked at Li Li, who was sitting upright and blinking his watery big eyes.
She took out the grilled sausage she was going to eat from her bag.
Seeing this, Li Li immediately stood up and started working.
First, he rubbed against the girl’s trousers, then rolled over and meowed, showing off a smooth and practiced begging routine that amused the girl greatly.
She obediently gave the grilled sausage to Li Li and even left him a napkin made of disposable tissue.
“Meow meow~ (As expected, beautiful Big Sisters are all kind-hearted. I wonder if the next one will be a Big Sister or a Big Brother? )” Munching on the sausage, Li Li continued to wait.
After a successful start, things went much smoother.
Passing students left steamed buns, small boxes of takoyaki, unfinished hand-grabbed pancakes, oily roast chicken wings stuffed with rice, crispy baked buns, hot dry noodles, half-eaten rice with soup……
All kinds of food were laid out on the ground, making him look like a vendor at a flea market.
“Meow meow~ (There are still many good people in this world. )” Looking at the food spread out, Li Li licked his lips and started eating.
First, he targeted the unfinished hot dry noodles and hand-grabbed pancakes.
He would finish off the larger items first, so that there would be space on the ground.
The students who passed by and saw him might go back and buy him more grilled sausages when they saw he only had a little food left. This was the art of begging.
As for begging? As a cat who had been hanging around the school, he was an expert.
After finishing his meal, the most important thing for a begging cat was to throw away the trash.
If he left too much trash behind, the school’s cleaning aunties and uncles would see it and write it down in their little notebooks to settle accounts with him later.
Therefore, cleaning up after eating was very important.
This was also the secret to why he was able to get along so well in the school.
For example, right now, a cleaning auntie was staring at him, or rather, at the pile of trash in front of him.
As a cat, he could feel the anger emanating from her. It was an indescribable and dangerous aura.
But as he threw all the trash on the ground into the nearby trash can, the cleaning auntie’s eyes were no longer so menacing.
“Big Fat Raccoon Cat is really a civilized cat. Although I’ve seen him throw away his trash after eating many times, I still find it incredible.”
“Yeah, I’ve always heard that tabby cats are intelligent and understand human nature. I’ve only truly witnessed it with Big Fat Raccoon Cat.”
The students who came to the cafeteria to eat couldn’t help but stop and marvel as they saw Li Li going back and forth to throw away the trash.
“Meow meow~ (Time to head to the next cafeteria for a meal. )” Li Li, the subject of everyone’s discussion, didn’t linger.
He picked up the disposable tissue in his mouth and walked with small steps towards other cafeterias.
He had eaten enough this time. If he continued to eat, it would be easy for people to notice something was wrong, so he had to eat one meal and then change locations.
Although no one would notice him as a little kitten, there might be some people with nothing better to do.
“Huh? Big Fat Raccoon Cat?”
Not long after Li Li left, a student who came out of the cafeteria with food was stunned when he saw the empty space in front of the entrance.
He had only gone in for a meal, how could Big Fat Raccoon Cat have eaten his fill and left? He had even planned to buy Big Fat Raccoon Cat a steamed bun. It seemed that Big Fat Raccoon Cat didn’t have that kind of luck today.
Thinking of this, the student couldn’t help but sigh. Then he left with the bun.
At the entrance of another cafeteria, Li Li, with the disposable tissue in his mouth, dropped it after finding a suitable spot.
He then sat down, blinking his round eyes, and stared at the passing students.
“Big Fat Raccoon Cat, you’re so cute. Why didn’t you bring a can today? Did you switch to a disposable tissue?” Within three seconds, a passing Big Sister was attracted and asked with a smile as she looked at Li Li.
“Meow meow~ (My food bowl was taken away by the scrap-collecting granny. The fish ball skewers in your hand look delicious, Big Sister. Can you share some with me? )” Li Li replied and then deliberately threw himself onto the Big Sister’s leg.
He blinked his eyes, staring at the fish ball skewers in her hand, and licked his lips frantically.
Even if she didn’t understand his words, she should know what he wanted by looking at his yearning eyes, right?
“Do you want to eat fish balls, Big Fat Raccoon Cat?” Seeing this, the Big Sister asked, shaking the skewers in her hand.
“Meow meow~ (Yes, yes. )” Li Li nodded his big head in response.
“It seems you really want to eat them. Be careful, they’re hot.” The Big Sister said with a smile, holding a fish ball and bringing it to Li Li’s mouth.
Li Li didn’t hold back and opened his mouth to take a bite.
It was indeed a wise decision to beg for food at the cafeteria entrance. Begging in the dormitory was not only unoriginal but also risky, as he could be chased out by the dorm supervisor.
Just as Li Li was immersed in the joy of being fed, a voice shattered his fantasy.
“Big Fat Raccoon Cat, why are you here begging for food again? You’re overweight, you know?”
“That’s right, everyone passing by, please don’t feed Big Fat Raccoon Cat anymore. Our Animal Club is specifically responsible for feeding him. His weight has already affected his health. We hope that when you see Big Fat Raccoon Cat, you won’t be fooled by his cute appearance and give him food.”
Two girls wearing school uniforms and badges of the academy’s club shouted through a loudspeaker.
This commotion quickly attracted the attention of the students.
“Meow meow~ (Don’t go too far! The little bit of food you feed me is barely enough for a chicken. I can’t even get full, okay? )” Seeing this, Li Li couldn’t help but curse.
