Ch 321: A Comical Scene
Facing the giant demon, tall and with a pair of huge horns, Chen Dian, Suying, and Gugu Duyasi were on high alert, not daring to be negligent. They stared intently at the demon, gathering all their energy, preparing for the demon’s possible fierce attack.
However, unexpectedly, after waiting anxiously for a long time, the demon did not attack. The three looked at each other, their hearts filled with doubt and confusion.
Just as they were puzzled, suddenly, the demon spoke: “My mom told me to go home for dinner. I’ll take care of you after I’ve eaten!” Its voice was low and slightly childish.
Before the words finished, the demon turned and left without hesitation. Its steps were steady and swift; in an instant, it disappeared into a crevice in the distance. Along with its figure disappeared the crevice itself, as if it were all a hallucination, never having happened.
Chen Dian, Suying, and Gugu Duyasi were dumbfounded by this sudden change, speechless for a long time. They never imagined that this seemingly ferocious demon would abandon its attack on them because its mother called it home for dinner.
This strange scene shocked the three. Chen Dian was the first to recover. A wry smile touched his lips; he shook his head helplessly, sighing, “This demon is really interesting! It gave up the battle because of dinner.” Suying gradually recovered from her terror. She gently patted her chest, still shaken, saying, “That scared me! I thought a fierce battle was inevitable.”
Gugu Duyasi scratched her head, her face full of disbelief, muttering, “This plot twist is too absurd! It was completely unexpected!” While they were still immersed in their surprise, the ground suddenly trembled violently, as if some immense power was surging beneath.
The three’s hearts pounded. Their gazes converged on the crevice that had disappeared. Indeed, with the ground’s shaking, the crevice reappeared, larger than before. This sudden change sent their hearts into their throats. Had the giant demon returned after dinner for revenge?
However, when the figure slowly emerged from the crevice, the three were stunned—before them was not the terrifying giant demon, but a small, cute minor demon!
This minor demon looked only five or six years old. Its skin was a pale green; its eyes were large and round, radiating intelligence. It also had two small horns on its head, which swayed slightly with its movements.
As soon as it appeared, the minor demon said in a childish voice, “My brother told me to tell you he’s too full tonight and won’t deal with you. He’ll come tomorrow!” Then, the minor demon mischievously made a ghost face at them and, as quickly as it came, disappeared through the crevice. The three were stunned again. These unexpected events left them speechless, only able to stare helplessly at the closed crevice, wondering what tomorrow would bring.
Chen Dian took a deep breath, telling himself to remain calm. He steadied himself, saying, “In that case, we absolutely cannot just wait for the demon to come to us tomorrow. We must immediately devise a plan to deal with it.”
Suying nodded in agreement, her expression serious. “Indeed, although this demon’s behavior is extremely strange, its strength is not to be underestimated.”
Gugu Duyasi stroked her chin thoughtfully. “Perhaps we can search this area for a magical artifact or help that can subdue the demon.”
They immediately sprang into action, searching carefully around. They passed through a dense forest and suddenly saw a river that shouldn’t have been there. This river appeared as if out of thin air, flowing quietly through the forest. It also emitted a mysterious light.
Chen Dian immediately became alert. He cautiously walked in front, Suying and Gugu Duyasi following closely. As they approached the river, the mysterious light grew stronger.
Finally, they reached the riverbank. Chen Dian looked closely and saw an object emitting multicolored light in the center of the river. Its shape resembled an assault rifle!
This assault rifle looked extraordinary, its surface shimmering with various colors, as if containing immense power. Chen Dian wondered, could this be the magical artifact to deal with the demon?
Just as they were about to approach the assault rifle, a sudden change occurred! They heard a “whoosh” sound, and a group of minor yokai surged from the river. These minor yokai were ferocious, clawing and lunging at them. Chen Dian shouted, “Careful!” He quickly drew his sword and engaged in a fierce battle with the oncoming minor yokai. Suying was not to be outdone, quickly forming hand seals, chanting incantations. Beams of light shot from her hands, striking several minor yokai. Gugu Duyasi agilely weaved through the minor yokai, kicking at their vital points.
However, there were simply too many minor yokai, surging like a tide. Although Chen Dian, Suying, and Gugu Duyasi all possessed exceptional skills, facing so many enemies, they began to feel overwhelmed.
As the three gradually fell into a passive situation, Chen Dian noticed something strange: each time a minor yokai was knocked down, the assault rifle’s light dimmed slightly. This discovery shocked him. A thought flashed through his mind—were these minor yokai the “guardians” of the assault rifle?
Chen Dian made a decision, shouting, “Don’t injure them too badly! Let’s see if we can get the assault rifle through them!” His voice was clear in the chaotic battlefield. Suying and Gugu Duyasi immediately understood, and the three changed tactics.
They no longer attacked the minor yokai indiscriminately but tried to subdue them, avoiding fatal harm. The battle slowed, but the minor yokai’s resistance weakened considerably.
With their relentless efforts, the minor yokai were gradually controlled. Then, a larger minor yokai emerged from the others. It stood before everyone, making squeaking noises and gesturing, as if conveying some information.
Chen Dian was intrigued. He decided to try communicating with this minor yokai. After some effort, he understood—they could obtain the assault rifle by winning a game!
This unexpected discovery led Chen Dian and the others to exchange glances. They decided without hesitation to accept the game. The assault rifle was too important.
The larger minor yokai seemed pleased. It led Chen Dian and the others to an open area where various oddly shaped objects were laid out.
The minor yokai pointed at the objects and gestured. Chen Dian understood the rules: they had to build a structure that could support a heavy object, and the one that lasted the longest won.
They sprang into action, using their wisdom and teamwork to build their structure. The minor yokai were equally competitive, using their unique methods, which also seemed methodical.
Time slipped away. Both structures were taking shape. The minor yokai were quick, placing the weight on their structure first. It trembled slightly, seeming about to collapse, but held.
It was Chen Dian’s turn. They carefully placed the weight on their structure. To their surprise, it was exceptionally stable, seemingly unaffected by the weight. Just as they thought they would win, the unexpected happened.
A cunning minor yokai, taking advantage of the others’ inattention, secretly sabotaged the structure. It gave a gentle push, and the weight, losing its balance, tilted towards a corner.
The structure shook violently, about to collapse. At this critical moment, Chen Dian showed his amazing speed and agility. With lightning-fast reflexes, he quickly plunged his sword between the structure and the ground, supporting the structure.
Thanks to Chen Dian’s efforts, the structure held. However, this sudden event made the situation mysterious.
Finally, after a thrilling confrontation, Chen Dian’s structure lasted longer. Though the minor yokai were dissatisfied, they kept their promise, allowing Chen Dian and the others to take the assault rifle.
Chen Dian and the others happily accepted the assault rifle, seeing hope of defeating the giant demon. They grasped the assault rifle tightly, confident in facing tomorrow’s challenge.
