Chapter 11
“Roar!”
Bang!
After Fang Bai smashed the head of the third zombie, he stopped and quietly watched the others fight.
Fang Bai watched for a while, but couldn’t discern anything, not even their attribute preferences.
It wasn’t that Fang Bai was looking down on them, but objectively speaking, these people were at most Level 1 or Level 2, and definitely couldn’t have reached Level 3. This was determined by the number of zombies in the residential area.
In other words, up to this point, they had only obtained at most two Free Attribute Points. While two Free Attribute Points could significantly improve an individual, they were definitely not enough to surpass human limits.
At this level, it was difficult for Fang Bai to discern whether they had primarily allocated their points to Strength, Agility, Constitution, Mental Power, or other attributes. He could only make rough guesses.
Therefore, after watching for a while, Fang Bai withdrew his gaze and looked at his Attribute Panel.
“Six more to go,” Fang Bai thought silently.
While Fang Bai and the others were fighting the zombies, on the second floor of a nearby building, five people were hiding in the stairwell, watching the zombies not far away. One of them cautiously asked,
“Are you sure this is okay?”
“What could go wrong with us killing zombies?”
A young man with a tattoo on his neck said with a痞气 (piqi – roguish/thuggish) air.
“The worst that can happen is we get beaten up a bit. It’s just killing a few zombies, they can’t really kill us, can they?”
His tone was full of disdain.
“Just tell me if you want to kill zombies or not. This is a chance to level up, and after leveling up, who kills who is uncertain!”
The young man sneered, and the others exchanged glances, instantly tempted.
The dozen or so zombies were quickly dealt with. Fang Bai immediately crossed the barrier to the zombie corpses, picked up the two Copper Coins dropped by the zombies, and the others also picked up their own spoils.
Fortunately, no equipment was dropped, only some Copper Coins here. Otherwise, things would have gotten interesting.
This temporary team would probably have fallen apart immediately.
But at this moment, Fang Bai suddenly froze, and his expression turned cold.
“Someone’s stealing our kills!”
Everyone was stunned, then they all reacted. Bai Qing rushed downstairs and looked out the entrance of the building.
At the entrance of another building, five people wearing motorcycle helmets and wielding various weapons were charging directly towards the fallen zombies on the ground, their intentions obvious.
“Stop! If you dare touch a single zombie, I’ll use you to make up the numbers!”
Bai Qing roared, and at the same time, rushed over. Fang Bai and the others immediately followed, but the people on the other side ignored him and continued to charge towards the zombies.
The devoured zombies were completely unable to move, only able to open their mouths and roar continuously. After those people arrived, they directly swung the sticks and hammers in their hands at the zombies’ heads.
Bang!
Bang!
In the blink of an eye, four or five zombies were smashed to death, and these people were still not satisfied, immediately rushing towards the remaining zombies.
“Attack!”
As soon as they reached the zombies, they collided with Fang Bai and the others. Bai Qing immediately shouted in a low voice,
“Attack!”
Before the words fell, the five people were immediately knocked to the ground.
Fang Bai and two others didn’t manage to grab an opponent, so they watched from the side.
It had to be said that although Fang Bai and the other eight were only half a day ahead of this group in killing zombies, their courage and experience were evident. Coupled with the average two-level increase in Free Attribute Points, the five people were all lying on the ground groaning and wailing for mercy after a short while.
At this time, the others stopped. Some went to kill the remaining zombies for experience, some watched Bai Qing quietly, waiting, and Fang Bai also waited.
Bai Qing looked at the five people wailing on the ground and instantly made a decision.
“Kill them.”
As soon as he spoke, everyone was stunned, their hearts skipping a beat. Even Fang Bai looked at Bai Qing with some surprise. However, Bai Qing immediately continued,
“Killing them would be a bit excessive. After all, they only killed a few zombies, they haven’t done anything inherently wrong.
The zombies don’t have our names written on them. If we can kill them, naturally they can kill them too.”
Everyone continued to look at Bai Qing, and the five people were overjoyed when they heard this, quickly thanking him and admitting their mistakes.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you, Big Brother. We just wanted to kill zombies, really sorry, it was my fault, I was impulsive and did something stupid for a moment.
I hope Big Brother will spare us. We’ll follow Big Brother to kill zombies from now on.”
Bai Qing nodded upon hearing this.
“Admitting your mistake? Mm, that’s good. If you’ve made a mistake, you have to be punished, right?”
“Right, right.”
“Good, break one arm each.”
The five people were dumbfounded the moment Bai Qing’s voice fell.
“Big Brother, Big Brother, we know we were wrong, why don’t you just beat me up, I was wrong, don’t break my hand, Big Brother.”
Bai Qing seemed to not hear him, and walked over directly. The young man on the ground saw this and shouted in fear,
“You, you dare?! There are surveillance cameras here, and the whole residential area is watching, this is illegal!”
The young man shouted loudly, and at the same time, got up and wanted to run, but as soon as he got up, he was kicked down by Bai Qing.
“Screw the surveillance cameras, screw everyone watching.
You dared to steal zombie kills with surveillance cameras and people watching, if there were no surveillance cameras and no one watching, wouldn’t you dare to kill people?!”
Before the words fell, in the young man’s shocked, angry, and regretful eyes, the steel bar in Bai Qing’s hand swung directly and smashed onto the young man’s right hand, the hand he had just used to kill zombies, his dominant hand. The next moment, a wail rang out.
It didn’t take long for the dominant hands of these five people to be broken one by one by Bai Qing.
Seeing this, Bai Qing sneered.
“If you dare to steal zombie kills, be prepared to bear the consequences.
The risk we take when killing zombies is death. You dare to steal the spoils, you should be thankful that the law is still protecting you by only breaking one hand.”
“Let’s go.”
After Bai Qing finished speaking, he walked towards the entrance of the building. When Fang Bai left, he looked back at the five people.
Spare them?
Bai Qing did still consider the law. Of course, he was more concerned about the people watching upstairs and had to consider the issue of public sentiment.
It was still the first day of the apocalypse, and killing people would have too much of an impact on them. If he formed a murderous impression, objectively speaking, it would be detrimental to Bai Qing’s future development.
However, it was different to explain things clearly, break their hands, and spare their lives.
But…
Fang Bai noticed that Bai Qing had broken their dominant hands. If society returned to stability in the future, it would be fine, nothing would happen to them, and Bai Qing would only go to jail for causing minor injuries.
But it was still the apocalypse.
Fang Bai smiled. How could a person with a broken dominant hand survive in the apocalypse?
They would just die a few days later.
Fang Bai looked at Bai Qing’s back and at the other people around him.
These people were walking closer to Bai Qing than before.
As Fang Bai was pondering, he suddenly heard extremely faint but high-frequency footsteps, and the footsteps were getting closer.
“Such speed!”
Fang Bai subconsciously exclaimed in surprise, but when he realized the direction of the sound, his eyes widened, and he roared,
“Run!”
