Chapter 12
“Run!”
The moment Fang Bai’s voice fell, he dashed towards the residential building. The others looked at him in confusion. Upon seeing this, Bai Qing had a faint sense of foreboding in his heart.
“Run!”
The others weren’t stupid either. Without him saying anything, they followed Fang Bai when they saw him start running.
No matter the reason, run first.
Just as all eight people squeezed into the unit door, they heard the sound of rapid footsteps coming from that direction.
The garden!
In an instant, everyone’s eyes widened, their pace quickened, and they exerted all their strength.
While running, they heard several screams from outside, and by the time they reacted, there was a loud bang from the first floor.
Thump!
Thump!
Thump!
The locked unit door was slammed with loud bangs, but before they could rejoice, a loud crash followed as the unit door smashed against the wall.
Thump!
Everyone froze, dumbfounded.
The unit door was smashed open?
They immediately reacted, cursing.
“Damn that magnetic door!!”
Muffled curses rang out as everyone dared not stop their steps. When they passed the third floor, two people turned and entered the room that hadn’t been closed.
Bai Qing glanced at Fang Bai, who was still rushing forward, and then at the room. He immediately followed Fang Bai and continued to run upstairs. The others subconsciously followed Bai Qing.
The two people immediately closed the security door and hid in the room.
Downstairs, the sound of the zombie’s footsteps continued, putting immense pressure on them.
Fang Bai gritted his teeth and rushed upwards, not forgetting to glance at the elevator as he ran.
Ninth floor!
The elevator they used to go up to the ninth floor when they were clearing zombies had been untouched.
Fang Bai rushed to the ninth floor in one breath, pressed the elevator button, and dashed inside. After the remaining five people all entered, Fang Bai repeatedly pressed the close button.
Seventh floor, eighth floor, ninth floor!
The zombie’s footsteps were getting closer. The moment the elevator door closed, Fang Bai saw the zombie’s ferocious and terrifying face through the gap.
The elevator descended rapidly, and a loud bang came from above.
Thump!
Everyone looked at each other, the exhaustion from rushing up to the ninth floor in one breath suddenly surged. Fang Bai felt like his legs, lungs, and heart were about to explode.
“Was that an adrenaline rush just now?”
Fang Bai thought to himself, not daring to sit down, and forced himself to lean against the elevator wall.
He had to run again later!
In the elevator, no one spoke, only the feeling of surviving a disaster lingered.
“Ding!”
The elevator reached the underground parking lot. Fang Bai finally caught his breath and said in a suppressed voice,
“I’ll go back first.”
“Okay, let’s each go back first. I wonder about those two brothers.”
As the words fell, they saw the two who had hidden in the room at the elevator entrance. They were waiting right there.
“It’s good that everyone’s okay. Let’s go home.”
Fang Bai nodded and immediately mustered his last bit of strength to rush towards the elevator leading to Building Nine.
After returning home, a wave of exhaustion washed over him. Fang Bai let out a long sigh.
“Finally made it back!”
Just now, Fang Bai truly felt like he was going to die there. He didn’t think much of it before, but now it seemed that the zombie’s aura was too terrifying!
“There are five more corpses there. Damn it, wouldn’t that zombie become stronger after eating them?”
“Ding dong.”
Fang Bai’s phone received a message. He opened it and saw that it was a message from the small group chat.
Bai Qing: “@Fang Bai, thanks to you just now, otherwise we would have been in danger.”
“It’s nothing. We came together, we go back together. But what are you going to do next?”
After waiting for a while, Bai Qing sent a message:
“The zombies in the small mahjong parlor were cleared by another group of people. Currently, the only zombies left in the residential area are in the garden and the small supermarket.
So next, we should still try to explore outside the residential area and improve our strength first.”
Fang Bai had a sudden idea and immediately said in the group chat,
“There’s an archery club opposite our residential area. There are quite a few recurve bows and arrows inside.
I plan to go get a bow to use. Do you want to go together?”
“Bow?”
Bai Qing didn’t reply, but it was clear that he was tempted.
“But we don’t know how to use them.”
“It’s the archery club right across the street. There’s a shooting range, bows, and arrows. We can clear the zombies inside, close the door, and practice.
It’s always safer to fight from a distance than in close combat.”
“I also think using bows and arrows is much safer.”
At this time, someone else in the group spoke up, and the others echoed in agreement. Bai Qing, seeing this, said,
“Okay, then next we’ll go to the archery club. Hmm, it’s getting late today, let’s do it tomorrow. Everyone, have a good rest.”
“Okay.”
Fang Bai turned his head to look at the sky outside. The sky was gradually darkening. The first day of the apocalypse had been bumpy, but it had passed.
After resting for a while, Fang Bai first cleaned himself up, then washed vegetables and cooked, replacing the water in the containers in the room with fresh water.
By the time everything was done, two hours had passed, and the sky had completely darkened.
Fang Bai sat on the sofa, using tools to pound and knead the muscles in his arms, thighs, and other areas.
He had exercised too much and too intensely today. Fang Bai felt that if he didn’t massage himself thoroughly, he might not be able to get out of bed tomorrow.
After everything was done, Fang Bai turned on his computer and opened various news websites and the news broadcast, refreshing them with some anticipation.
But after a while, Fang Bai’s eyes dimmed again.
None of the news websites had been updated, not even the news broadcast.
Time on the internet seemed to have stopped yesterday.
Only the free-speech forums and Weibo were in an uproar. Fang Bai even saw online posts about terrifying zombie hordes numbering over ten thousand, and even terrifying zombie giants four or five meters tall.
In addition, there were zombie tigers, zombie cats, zombie dogs, zombie rats, and so on. The existence of these creatures made Fang Bai feel suffocated.
At the same time, Fang Bai also saw many people online showing off their attributes and equipment. Attributes were high and low, but it seemed that none exceeded ten points, or rather, the credibility of those exceeding ten points was not high and could not be verified.
There was also quite a bit of equipment, mostly like Fang Bai’s, which only added one attribute point. Occasionally, a piece of equipment that added two attributes would appear, causing countless people to chase after it.
At the same time, countless people complained online about the extremely low drop rate of equipment.
Just like that, Fang Bai browsed the information shared by survivors online bit by bit, looking at the true and false things within, analyzing the information, and feeling the incredibly lively atmosphere online. Fang Bai’s heart was slightly comforted.
However, Fang Bai still hadn’t found the news he wanted to see.
News about the army.
The first night of the apocalypse.
Fang Bai gradually fell asleep.
