Chapter 26: Pay Up!
“Catch cat demons to train me?”
Hearing this, Lin Ling’er was so angry she wanted to laugh. Did Li Feng really think that cat demons were like little chicks, easily captured?
Even she could only handle three cat demons at most, and immediately retorted coldly, “Fine, but if you can’t catch any, I’m not paying.”
Lin Ling’er decided to teach Li Feng a lesson, lest he become too arrogant.
Li Feng glanced up at her, understanding what she was thinking. But he wasn’t in a hurry; he would prove himself with facts later.
The two walked in the dark forest, the atmosphere rather awkward.
About half an hour passed. Whether Li Feng’s luck was good or bad, they hadn’t encountered any cat demons during this time.
This made him a little bored, so he took out his phone to continue leveling up. However, he still paid attention to his surroundings. After all, he was taking someone through a dungeon, so he had to be somewhat serious.
Seeing this, Lin Ling’er felt a surge of anger. “Playing games, playing games, all he knows is playing games. Sooner or later, games will be the death of him.”
Whoosh.
Suddenly, a cat demon darted out from the trees, attacking Lin Ling’er. The terrifying gust of wind almost grazed her perfect cheek.
But Lin Ling’er wasn’t a pushover. With her experience in dungeons, she remained calm in this situation. She immediately used the skill ‘Inch Strike’, hitting the cat demon’s head directly.
With a bang, the cat demon’s head exploded, blood splattering everywhere.
“A mere cat demon dares to ambush me?” Lin Ling’er smiled smugly and looked at Li Feng, wanting him to know how capable she was. He still wanted to catch cat demons to train her?
But when she looked at Li Feng, he seemed still engrossed in his game, not even aware that she had been attacked by a cat demon. A raging fire ignited in her heart, filling her entire chest.
Actually, Li Feng had noticed the cat demon’s attack the moment it happened. But seeing that Lin Ling’er wasn’t in any danger, he didn’t intervene.
“Not bad.” Seeing her look over, Li Feng casually commented, then went back to his game.
“You…” Lin Ling’er couldn’t hold back any longer and was about to give Li Feng a piece of her mind when her expression suddenly changed. “Oh no.”
Because at that moment, three cat demons emerged from the darkness, their eyes cold, and simultaneously attacked Lin Ling’er.
Her limit was dealing with three cat demons, and even then, a slight misstep could mean death. She had no time to settle scores with Li Feng.
“Three cat demons.” Li Feng frowned, then put away his phone and entered Stealth Mode. However, he didn’t make a move, as Lin Ling’er was still able to handle it. But he was ready to provide support at any moment.
“Ha!”
Lin Ling’er’s movements were very decisive. Each punch and palm carried immense power, aiming to strike the cat demons. However, the demons were very agile, dodging her attacks and occasionally leaping onto the trees, waiting for an opportunity.
The Dark Cat Forest was the cat demons’ home turf. They weren’t in a hurry, patiently hunting, constantly engaging her in battle. This situation made Lin Ling’er’s heart sink. With her stamina, if the battle dragged on, she might make a mistake, and that would be when the cat demons would deliver a fatal blow.
She glanced at Li Feng, then smiled helplessly. He had the Basic Armor, so he didn’t have to worry about his safety, but he was also of no help.
“This style, it’s so similar to a Martial Artist.” Li Feng observed for a while and found that Lin Ling’er’s fighting style greatly resembled the Martial Artist class.
Martial Artist was also one of the classes that had risen in popularity in recent years. Unlike Warriors and Mages, they believed more in their own strength, able to unleash terrifying power with their fists and feet.
Li Feng had once seen a short video online promoting the Martial Artist class. The high-level player in the video punched and directly shattered a building, shocking everyone. It was no less impressive than the known classes.
“Being able to hold on this long is not bad, but it’s my turn now.” Li Feng looked at Lin Ling’er and saw that she had reached her limit. If he didn’t act now, she would be in danger.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
The cat demons seemed to have seized an opportunity, attacking Lin Ling’er simultaneously from three different directions, targeting her arm, thigh, and head.
◈◈◈
“Oh no, am I going to die here today?” Inside the fray, Lin Ling’er was panting heavily, drenched in sweat, with many wounds on her body and her clothes torn. Facing the attacking cat demons, she felt a sense of despair.
Suddenly, a flash of light passed by her left ear, piercing the cat demon that was clawing at her head. Taking advantage of this, Lin Ling’er rolled, dodging the attacks of the remaining two cat demons.
“Go!” Li Feng’s expression was calm as he condensed two more arrows, which turned into streaks of light, piercing the cat demons.
“Who saved me?”
Lin Ling’er, covered in dirt, turned her head and saw Li Feng condensing two more Flash Arrows. Her eyes widened. “It was Li Feng who helped, this… how is this possible?”
She was shocked. Li Feng had effortlessly killed three cat demons, reminding her of the transfer student she had seen a few days ago, who had the same calm demeanor.
And the skill he used to condense the arrows was obviously extraordinary. She wondered where Li Feng had gotten it.
Li Feng glanced at her. “Your strength is not bad. Let’s keep going. Remember to pay me later.” After saying that, he continued to level up.
In the game, with the dual classes slowly but surely progressing, the experience bar finally passed the halfway mark.
“Oh, okay.” Lin Ling’er felt aggrieved. She wanted to say, “You clearly have such strong abilities, why did you hide them?” Thinking of her previous taunts, her face turned bright red.
Soon, the morning passed.
With Li Feng’s help, Lin Ling’er also boldly hunted cat demons, and her strength improved significantly. Now, she could face four cat demons alone.
This made Lin Ling’er a little proud, but when she glanced at Li Feng who was playing his game, she couldn’t help but feel dejected. Comparing herself to him was truly infuriating.
“This guy plays games all day, yet his strength is terrifyingly high. It’s truly infuriating to compare.”
Lin Ling’er couldn’t understand, but she didn’t ask, as it concerned personal privacy. She looked at the sky; it was noon. “Let’s go out!”
“Okay!”
Li Feng was concise, without any unnecessary words. Spatial power emerged, instantly teleporting them both out.
They reappeared outside the Dark Cat Forest, which was even more lively than before, with more students arriving.
“Pay up!” Li Feng looked at Lin Ling’er, extending a hand, not being polite.
Lin Ling’er’s face flushed. She whispered, “I don’t have that much cash on me right now. I’ll give it to you when we get back. I’ll treat you to a meal.”
“Okay!” Li Feng touched his stomach and nodded. He was indeed hungry now and had no money, so he could only shamelessly accept a free meal.
