Chapter 120: Northward
[space_man][space_man]Eld, Marie, and Moira were heading to the North Front Line on a national request.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]They had been traveling for about two weeks in a carriage drawn by two magic beast horses.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Because it was dangerous to go north, they couldn’t bring a third party with them, so they were serving as their own coachman.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld and Marie had experience as coachmen, but Moira did not, so they mainly had Moira practice driving the carriage within the country.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Yes, the North Front Line was outside the country.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]The Lutodelein Kingdom and its two neighboring countries jointly funded and operated the North Front Line. However, since the Lutodelein Kingdom contributed more than 90% of the funds, it was practically operated by the Lutodelein Kingdom.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Now, their current location was about a day away from the North Front Line. Eld was driving the carriage, and Marie was sleeping while sitting. Moira was chanting a spell to increase the capacity of her spatial magic.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”How’s it going, Moira? Can you increase the capacity?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Moira stopped chanting and took a breath.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”No! Even with the spell and Healing’s support, it won’t expand at all!!”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Ahaha. Well, it’s unreasonable to try to expand spatial magic that’s already been fixed in the first place.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”But Eld and Marie are expanding it, right?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Moira asked while making and drinking tea.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Well, yeah. It took me three days to double the size of mine, though.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Hearing that, Moira was speechless. Even someone at Eld’s level took three days.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]The carriage shook violently as if it had run over a pebble or something. The vibration woke Marie up.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Mmm…… It’s not good to sleep sitting up after all……”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]She took a clock out of her pocket and checked the time.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”It’s about the right time…… Eld, want to switch drivers?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Hearing Marie’s voice, Eld also checked the time.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Yeah. Let’s take a break before we switch. The magic beast horses are in high spirits today and haven’t rested at all.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Saying that, Eld sent magic power through the reins to stop the magic beast horses.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”What’s wrong with you guys today? You’re awfully excited.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld got out of the carriage, took the two horses to a nearby large tree, tied them up, and took out a water bucket and fodder from his subspace. He filled the water bucket with water using water magic.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Well, that should do it.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld patted the magic beast horses and returned to the carriage. Marie was by the carriage, building a fire and preparing to cook.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”What should we have for lunch today?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Marie reached into her subspace and looked for ingredients. There was still some boar monster meat left from a few days ago.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Which do you prefer, stir-fried boar meat with vegetables or skewers?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”I’ll have the stir-fried meat and vegetables.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”I’d like that too.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Marie nodded and took the ingredients out of her subspace. And, as usual, Olesia fruit appeared.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]While Marie was cooking, Eld and Moira were keeping watch of the surroundings and checking on the magic beast horses.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]After lunch, when they went to reattach the magic beast horses to the carriage, they were still excited.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld carefully reattached them to the carriage and handed the reins to Marie.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”They’re certainly quite excited.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Right? It’s fine since there’s no particular problem, though.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld poured out the remaining water in the bucket and put it away.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Alright, Marie, let’s get going.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]He got into the carriage and called out.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Hold on tight, okay?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Marie sent magic power through the reins and made the magic beast horses run. They were faster than when Eld was driving.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Marie, think about pacing.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”But I thought it would be better to let them run as fast as they want if they feel like it.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld shook his head in exasperation.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”If you can keep up this pace tomorrow, we might arrive by the morning.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]He glanced at Moira and saw that she was chanting a spell again, trying to expand her spatial magic.
