Chapter 36: Beasts, Magical Beasts, and Monsters
  “So, I was told to teach you from the basics.”
 
  Eld had finished the request with them, and Millenia and Jaylot returned first. Eld had gone off on his own, saying he had something to discuss with Tohlight.
 
  “Even for Millenia-neesama, starting from the basics is a bit of an exaggeration, don’t you think……?”
 
  Jaylot glanced at Millenia. He wanted to believe it would be alright, but he started to get worried.
 
  “Please start from the basics. Also, here you go, Eld-niisama asked me to give this to you for dinner.”
 
  Jaylot handed the rabbit meat, which had been hanging from the wooden stick he was carrying, to Mary.
 
  “Oh my, you even butchered it for me. Should we have it roasted whole or in a soup tonight?”

  “By the way, what’s the difference between regular beasts and magical beasts? I know that magical beasts have more magic power when I sense them, but I don’t really understand the specific differences.”

Apparently, if a normal beast lives in a place with high magic power or eats food that increases magic power, it becomes a magical beast. There’s no difference in their physical structure, so magical beasts and normal beasts can have children together.”

  Jaylot replied.

  Mary nodded in agreement as she butchered the rabbit meat.
 
  “Then, what’s the difference between monsters and magical beasts?”
 
  Millenia asked again.
 
  “It’s the presence or absence of intelligence. In the past, they used to be classified by whether they walked on four legs or two, but there are some four-legged beasts that are more intelligent than humans.”
 
  Mary answered.
 
  “Are monsters really strong?”
 
  Due to the Faniaal family’s policy of having to be strong enough to survive even if surrounded by magical beasts, Millenia and Jaylot were strong, despite being children. However, monsters only inhabit dungeons or certain regions, so it’s generally difficult to gauge their strength.
 
  “That really depends on the individual, but they’re far stronger than magical beasts. Even Eld and I would struggle quite a bit against a goblin if we were told to fight without magic.”
 
  Goblins were creatures that even villagers could fight if they were used to combat, but that was only if they were magically enhanced. If they were to fight solely with physical strength, they would be at a significant disadvantage.
 
  “Wow. But monsters mostly only live in the northern regions, so it’s rare to encounter them, right?”
 
  Jaylot asked.
 
  “Sometimes, magical beasts evolve into monsters. So there are cases where people think they’re fighting a magical beast and get killed because they let their guard down. You can’t be careless no matter who your opponent is.”
 
  Millenia and Jaylot shuddered at her words.
 
  “While you’re here, Eld or I will be with you, so you’ll be fine even if you encounter a monster.”
 
  Mary said, patting their heads.
 
  “Well, since you want me to teach you from the basics, that means you want me to teach you through experience, right? Shall we do some light exercise outside?”
 
  She said, finishing butchering the rabbit meat and wiping the knife.
 
  “Huh? Is that what it means?”
 
  “Well, I can teach you in a classroom setting, but I also want to move my body a bit.”
 
  Mary said as she took off her apron. For some reason, Millenia seemed enthusiastic too. Jaylot recalled that Millenia was the type to learn by doing.
 
  “In that case, please teach us outside.”

  Mary led Millenia and Jaylot out into the garden.
