Chapter 4: Branch Guild
[space_man][space_man]Eld and Derry stopped the carriage in front of the Branch Guild and got off.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Wait for me at the parking area when you’re done.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Derry instructed the driver, and the carriage started moving towards the parking area.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”It’s still new, isn’t it?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld said, looking up at the Branch Guild.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Yeah. Not just the Branch Guild, but this whole town is still new. It’s been around for about twelve years.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Heh.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Having this conversation, the two entered the Branch Guild.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”I’m going to talk to the Branch Master, so why don’t you take a break, Eld-niisan? You didn’t have anything to eat or drink in the carriage, so you must be thirsty, right?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Being told that by Derry, Eld felt his throat dry. Now that he thought about it, he had only had a sip of water since getting off the stagecoach and hadn’t had anything since meeting up with Derry.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Ah, I’ll take you up on that.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Derry headed to the reception counter, and Eld made his way to the tavern inside the Branch Guild.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Are you open?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]He called out to the man polishing glasses at the tavern counter. Judging from his clothes, he seemed to be the bartender.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Yes, of course. What would you like to drink?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Let’s see. I’ll have something random.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld said as he sat down on a chair. The bartender nodded and started making a cocktail. Then he served a cocktail with blue liquid and a green leaf on top.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”I tried to match it to the color of your eyes.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Hahaha, thank you.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld took a sip of the cocktail and gulped it down in one go. The green leaf was not a real leaf but a sweet candy.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Are you a traveling adventurer?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Something like that.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]The bartender offered Eld a refill.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Please enjoy your time.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]The bartender bowed and resumed polishing glasses.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Hey hey hey, drinking in broad daylight like this, you must be living the good life!”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]As he was finishing his third cocktail, he suddenly heard a voice and looked in that direction.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Several men were looking at Eld with stern expressions.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”It’s not bad to drink in the middle of the day once in a while. Want to join me? I won’t treat you, though.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld said to the men, slightly provoking them.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”What the hell, you bastard! Are you looking down on us!?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”We haven’t seen your face before, so we’ll have to teach you some manners towards Senpai!”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld thought that the same things happen everywhere.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Although the Guild is a national organization, perhaps due to the nature of the requests, many adventurers are rough around the edges.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]They have a strong sense of camaraderie and generally know the faces of the adventurers they usually work with and the local residents who bring in requests.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]And they often pick on newcomers they don’t recognize by finding fault with them like this.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]When Eld graduated from the academy and became an adventurer, he registered at the guild in the central capital, and nothing like this happened. However, as he traveled from guild to guild throughout the country, he had been confronted like this several times.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Manners towards Senpai, huh…… There’s no such thing as Senpai and Kouhai among adventurers who live by the principle of strength.”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Saying that, Eld stood up. A man nearby stared at Eld’s physique.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”You seem pretty well-built……”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Saying that, he swung his fist at Eld. Eld parried the punch and kicked the man in the stomach.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]The kicked man fell towards his companion, and both of them collapsed onto the floor.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]Eld smiled as he stepped on the stomach of the man on top of the pile.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Now, Senpai-kata, I’d like you to teach me some manners. How long are you going to stay resting?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”L-Let’s get him!!”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]The men struggled to get up, but Eld put more force into his foot that was stepping on the top man.
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]”Hey hey, young man, can you let them off the hook with that?”
[space_man]
[space_man][space_man]When Eld looked towards the voice, he saw a well-built giant of a man standing there.
