Ch 11: Wen Li: “What are you dissatisfied with?”; Lin Yun: It’s possible she’s being kept.
In just one morning, the name Wen Li spread throughout Grade 3.
Besides her striking appearance attracting attention, the matters concerning Wen Li and the Wen Family also sparked heated discussions, with the news of Wen Yan being adopted spreading rapidly.
Even the lower grades heard some rumors.
There was absolutely no need for Wen Li to create a few headlines and post them online; the speed of this spread had already achieved a remarkable effect.
It’s believed that within a few days, half of Beijing’s upper-class circle’s powerful and wealthy individuals will hear some Wen Family gossip from their own children.
Wen Li, who returned to the Wen Family a bit late, saw several people waiting on the sofa as soon as she entered.
The hurt Wen Yan remained sensible: “Dad, I’m fine.”
Lin Yun feigned comfort: “Don’t feel sad, Yan Yan. In your father’s and my heart, though you’re not our biological daughter, you’re more precious than one.”
This was unclear whether it was comfort or a stab to the heart.
This looked like a posture ready to settle accounts.
Wen Li ignored them and headed towards the stairs.
“Wait a minute.” Wen Baixiang spoke.
Seeing Wen Li’s unwavering steps, he quickly said: “I asked the No.1 Middle School Principal, and the Principal said that a Peking University professor recommended you. Which professor was it? How did you know them?”
Wen Li: “Who it is doesn’t matter. What matters is that he’s more useful than you, isn’t he? You, the Chairman of the Wen Group, are incapable of getting me in, but a common university professor can.”
Wen Baixiang was speechless for a moment.
Wen Xin incredulously said: “Just because you know a Peking University professor? And they got you into No.1 Middle School? What tricks did you play?”
Wen Li coldly glared at her: “What are you dissatisfied with?”
“You said you got into No.1 Middle School, and you also spread the news that Yan Yan is adopted. Even if you don’t care about Yan Yan’s mood, you should consider the Wen Family’s reputation, shouldn’t you? Isn’t this making everyone laugh at us?” Lin Yun said grandly.
Seemingly advising, considering the Wen Family, and protecting Wen Yan, it was actually a blame, implicitly deepening the conflict, adding fuel to the fire.
Wen Li sneered: “So you also know that this kind of thing is a joke?”
Lin Yun was speechless in refutation.
She found that Wen Li, who seemed to have a face that didn’t like to speak, was actually sharp-tongued and eloquent.
“I just spoke a few truths. Besides,” Wen Li glanced at Wen Xin and said, “She was the one who spread the rumor that I’m an illegitimate daughter.” Then she looked at Wen Baixiang and said with a forced smile, “I’m clarifying it for you.”
Wen Xin stood up abruptly, her eyes wide: “When did I say that? Don’t you slander me. It was clearly Tan Shiyin who said it.”
Wen Li stood there with a bag slung over her shoulder, hands in her pockets, her figure slender, her eyes disdainful, smiling without speaking.
It was clearly intentional.
Wasn’t she quite imposing when she blocked her at school during the day?
The unruly smile at the corner of Wen Li’s mouth revealed her intention. Her smug look after wrongly accusing someone angered Wen Xin.
Lin Yun suppressed her urge to scold: “Xinxin has always been well-behaved. How could she say that? Don’t wrong her.”
Seeing her father’s stern face, Wen Xin anxiously stepped forward: “Dad, I didn’t, she’s slandering me. If you don’t believe me, you can ask—Wen Li, clarify what you said!” She angrily pointed at Wen Li.
“Enough!”
Wen Baixiang’s angry shout ended the commotion.
His face was livid, but when he looked at Wen Li, he remained calm: “I’ll transfer one million yuan in medical expenses to your card. If it’s not enough, we’ll talk about it later. Since you’ve entered No.1 Middle School, study hard. If you have nothing else to do, go upstairs and rest.”
“Dad,” Wen Xin was anxious when she heard her father actually allowing Wen Li to stay at No.1 Middle School.
But when she met her father’s stern gaze, she could only silently settle the score with Wen Li in her heart.
“I’ll say it again, she is your sister. I hope you three sisters get along well.” Wen Baixiang’s expression was serious.
No one dared to say anything more.
Lin Yun sent her daughter back to her room and comforted her: “Don’t be angry. If you don’t want to go to school, don’t go. You’ve been admitted anyway.”
“I underestimated that girl. I think we should avoid her for now, let her act recklessly, and see how long your father can tolerate her.”
Wen Xin: “Why? It’s her, not me, who shouldn’t appear in No.1 Middle School! I’m not someone who can’t be seen. Why should I hide? I’m Father’s most valued daughter. If I don’t go to school, how will Father view me?”
“Okay, okay. Just treat her as air at school. Endure these two months. After the Gaokao, when you enter Peking University, you won’t have to be in the same school as her.”
Lin Yun then returned to the room and saw her husband sitting on the sofa, pinching his brows. So she went over and started to massage his shoulders.
When the timing was right, she tentatively whispered: “That illness of Xiao Li’s is probably fake. If she’s not sick, that’s naturally good. I understand your desire to compensate, but one million yuan is neither too much nor too little. Xiao Li has never seen so much money. What if it affects her character, or she meets the wrong people and uses the money to do something illegal…”
She spoke eloquently, but actually, she disliked Wen Baixiang giving money to Wen Li.
Seeing her husband didn’t speak,
Lin Yun continued: “Also, you should still find out about that Peking University professor. Xiao Li is inexperienced and doesn’t know the dangers. Don’t let her be deceived.”
“What do you mean by that?” Wen Baixiang opened his eyes.
“Xiao Li just arrived in Beijing. She hasn’t even figured out the roads yet. How could she know a Peking University professor who would recommend her to No.1 Middle School?”
Her words were reasonable, and Wen Baixiang knew it in his heart.
“The card you gave her yesterday morning only had ten thousand yuan, right? No.1 Middle School can’t be bought with ten thousand yuan.”
“If she used your name to ask for help, why would the other party need to hide it? The other party clearly didn’t do it for your sake, but for Xiao Li’s.”
“With Xiao Li’s absenteeism record, if there was no benefit, who would bother to get her, someone without money or power, into No.1 Middle School?”
“People’s hearts are unpredictable. Even if it’s really a Peking University professor, there’s no guarantee that they’re not a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Xiao Li is so beautiful… I’m worried that she’ll be blinded by Beijing’s bright lights and nightlife.”
By now, the meaning was very clear.
It implied that Wen Li used her body to get into No.1 Middle School, and might even be kept by a wealthy person.
Wen Baixiang’s face had become serious.
