Ch 110: Dark Gene
After the inspection, Eric had a general understanding of the campus reconstruction progress. He looked at Wu Ke Na Na, who was frowning beside him:
“The Vampire Army is gone, and the Dark Legion has been successfully repelled. Why do you still look so worried?”
“I…” The matter she had been suppressing in her heart was almost about to come out in her gentle voice. Wu Ke Na Na stopped herself, changing the subject, “Jian Ni’s condition seems a bit off.”
“Indeed.” He had also noticed Jian Ni’s unusual state during the fight against the Dark Legion. “Head Nurse Da Tiantian is in the infirmary; Jian Ni will be fine.”
Eric cautiously avoided mentioning Wu La La.
“But you’re worried about more than just Jian Ni, right?” He wasn’t sure what Wu Ke Na Na was worried about. After pausing, he still asked, “Is it related to… Wu La La’s Naiya identity?”
“Of course not,” Mentioning Wu La La, a hint of relief appeared on Wu Ke Na Na’s worried face. “Wu La La is very powerful now.”
Sitting on a chair in the small garden, she struggled repeatedly, still unsure whether to tell him about this.
“Is it something important?” Seeing Wu Ke Na Na’s struggle, Eric smiled gently. “If you don’t want to say it, I…”
“No!” She hastily denied Eric’s words. After taking a few deep breaths, she finally made up her mind.
“Eric, I…” Looking at the empty surroundings, Wu Ke Na Na clutched her skirt. “I talked things over with Grandfather that day. Grandfather said it was because I have the Dark Gene, and he did this to protect me…”
This is why she pretended to be Naiya Princess and entered Meng Academy.
“Dark Gene?!”
The sensitive word shocked him so much that he almost immediately stood up from his chair.
After receiving confirmation, Eric looked around, again confirming that there were no classmates passing by. He breathed a sigh of relief and sat down to slowly digest this shocking news.
“Yes, my father is from the Dark Clan, my mother is from the Quark Clan, and I inherited my father’s Dark Gene.” Eighteen years ago, her parents left the Dark Clan and Meng Academy and went to Earth, but were later affected by the Black Quake War. When Grandfather arrived, only she and Wu La La remained.
Comfortably putting his arm around Wu Ke Na Na’s shoulders, they remained silent for a while before he asked, “Does Wu La La know about this?”
“Wu La La only knows that letting me enter Meng Academy is for my protection, and that she herself will be in danger. Grandfather didn’t explain anything else clearly.”
“I’m worried that Grandfather and Wu La La will be hurt because of me.” She was worried that if others discovered her Dark Gene, Grandfather would be punished by the Council of Elders. She was also worried that if the Dark Gene ever erupted, it would harm Wu La La and others.
She didn’t want to lose control, be controlled by the Dark Emperor, and attack the people she cared about against her will.
Holding Wu Ke Na Na’s hand, it seemed that this could give her more strength.
“Your Dark Gene hasn’t erupted in all these years; it may not erupt in the future. Before that day comes, we can find ways to avoid it. Even if that day really comes, we’ve been through so much, and we can definitely find a way to solve it.”
Meeting his determined gaze, the anxiety in her heart gradually faded away without her realizing it.
“Thank you, Eric. I feel much better after telling you.”
She seemed to have been worrying too much about this.
“So, you’ve been in a bad state lately because you’ve been worrying about this?”
Wu Ke Na Na nodded.
“I will keep this a secret. No matter what happens in the future, you still have me, Wu La La, and a group of companions to face it together.”
He paused for a moment and continued, “You don’t have to keep everything bottled up inside.”
He added an apologetic explanation, “Wu La La would be happy to help you.”
“Okay.”
Victoria, hiding behind the wall, slowly came out after they left.
“Wu Ke Na Na possesses the Dark Gene but it has never erupted…”
She fell into deep thought, unconsciously touching the back of her neck with her left hand. Although she couldn’t feel anything, she knew very clearly that there was the Dark Curse Seal placed on her by the Dark Emperor.
—This was also the reason why she came to Meng Academy.
“Should I tell Principal Kendouji about the Dark Curse Seal?”
Wu Ke Na Na’s Dark Gene has never erupted, which must be because Principal Kendouji did something.
Could Principal Kendouji also help her solve the Dark Curse Seal?
“Principal Kendouji has always been kind and compassionate, and he doesn’t have strong prejudices against the Dark Clan. He should…”
“Teacher Victoria?”
A call interrupted her thoughts.
Quickly restoring her usual appearance, she looked at the person who called her. “Student Rui Bu Si, is there a problem?”
“Well, there wasn’t originally.” She simply saw her and called out. “Teacher Victoria, do you have any Potionology review materials? A friend of mine will need them in a couple of days.”
“Student Jian Ni?”
“Yes.”
Qian Jin’s memory was too captivating; she couldn’t figure it out, and it was hard to say whether the materials given would be useful or not.
But they were both Potionology materials; the exam focus should be roughly the same. Asking Teacher Victoria from the next class was about the same.
“Of course, shall we go to the office now?”
“No,” She was worried that if she appeared in front of Director Pa twice, he would suspect her of tampering with his desk. “I heard Director Pa is in a bad mood now; I’m a little afraid to see him.”
It was quite coincidental that she saw him near dusk.
And it was Director Pa, in a double bad mood.
He was seeing Jesse Maya off, a fake smile on his face, saying polite words like “You’ve worked hard,” but when he turned around, his eyes rolled to the sky.
Jesse’s expression looked similar to his, half tired and half annoyed. Perhaps because he lacked Director Pa’s years of workplace endurance, his impatience was almost written on his face.
So… what exactly did Mi Ya Xing read from Jesse’s mind?
After Director Pa left, Rui Bu Si came out from the corner where she was hiding, twisting the Magic Cube in her hand, unable to understand what could make her and Jesse kindred spirits.
Oh, she’s such a good person, but Jesse doesn’t seem easy to get along with.
Her hand suddenly felt empty.
“Oops~” Taking back her Magic Cube and examining it for a moment, she caught sight of Rui Bu Si’s eager hands and hid the cube behind her back.
She was careless and didn’t notice Mi Ya Xing approaching. “There are only three more months until the new semester.”
“Yes,” avoiding Rui Bu Si’s hand, “it’s coming soon.”
“I heard that many new classmates will be coming.”
Turning around, she tossed the Magic Cube over Rui Bu Si from her right hand to her left hand. “There are new students transferring in every semester, and some will transfer out. It doesn’t seem like there are many more this year.”
After a few rounds, she realized that she couldn’t compete with the prepared Mi Ya Xing.
She stood there sadly, biting her lip.
“Hey, you…” trying to see her expression, but her long hair covered half her face, and he couldn’t see anything.
Is she really going to cry?
Mi Ya Xing felt a little helpless.
Although he had accidentally made classmates cry because of pranks when he was a child, it seemed different from the current situation.
“Jesse was cursing in his heart about the low salary, the heavy workload, the annoying boss, and the clients who loved to haggle.” He handed the Magic Cube to her. “Here, for you.”
After a long while, the person standing there finally moved, taking the Magic Cube from his hand. Mi Ya Xing was relieved, and before he could say anything else, Rui Bu Si turned and ran.
“Je je je~” Her triumphant laughter echoed in the air.
“Ouch——”
This was because she almost tripped over some pebbles on the ground because she was running too fast.
…His guilt was wasted.
