Ch 62: The Gold is too bright.
Not long after class began, the classroom lights suddenly went out, and a gasp arose from the students in the darkness. Sensing something was amiss, Rui Bu Si quickly kicked her game console to the front of the room.
Preparing to leave after a patrol, but noticing something amiss, Director Pa Hua Luo Di leaped out from the shadows:
“Student Rui Bu Si, please explain why there was still light coming from your seat when the lights went out?”
He snapped his pointer, seemingly unaffected by the darkness: “Unless you’re going to say you were practicing magic at the time?”
“No, Director Pa,” standing up, Rui Bu Si showed no fear of this questioning, “I was reading.”
A classmate produced a candle from somewhere, its light adding a bit of visibility to the dark classroom.
The old man on the lectern stood still, closing his book without a word.
Snapping his pointer again, Director Pa Hua Luo Di’s amiable face hid an underlying storm, appearing especially terrifying in the dim light, his words practically spat out: “What kind of book glows by itself? Student Rui Bu Si!”
“It’s like this, Director Pa.” The candlelight reflected on her calm face, its flickering casting a believable arc, making Director Pa Hua Luo Di almost think he’d imagined what he’d seen.
“A book contains a house of gold,” she said, “The gold was just too bright.”
Truth often increases the credibility of a statement.
Unfortunately, Director Pa did not believe this truth.
The three who had been made to stand in the office for a long time and then reprimanded hung their heads, waiting for his anger to subside.
Why three people?
Oh, Jian Ni picked up the game console. Although the classroom was dark at the time, Director Pa, using his own biases, concluded that Jian Ni had hidden the game console.
It was a very successful conclusion.
Because it was indeed the case.
What Director Pa didn’t expect was that, thinking it was a case of two people working together, another person, Lan Bao, appeared during the closing of the case.
The game console belonged to Lan Bao.
“Even her lack of scholarship is forgivable.” Records showed Rui Bu Si had neither parents nor relatives on Earth, nor any friends, having grown up wandering from place to place.
Although he didn’t know which wire in the Headmaster’s brain was crossed to allow her enrollment, the Headmaster wasn’t new to having crossed wires, and he certainly wouldn’t oppose the Shop Owner over such a small matter.
With Rui Bu Si’s background, he already considered her quite well-behaved for not causing trouble.
And she was, after all, just an ordinary student. According to Head Nurse Da Tiantian, she had suffered from severe malnutrition when she first enrolled.
“You are Meng Knights! How can you cause trouble together? Even leading the trouble!”
He never imagined that the game console belonged to Lan Bao.
Turning around angrily, the three took the opportunity to exchange glances, returning to their posture of obediently standing and being reprimanded when Director Pa turned back.
“And you!” The pointer pointed at the old man drinking water, “Teacher Gabriella Li, you should at least control your students during class!”
The old man slowly finished his water: “These students are quite good.”
Good?
Did he even remember these students to say they were good?
And earlier.
If a classroom’s lights had a problem, just change classrooms.
He had to fix it himself.
Even if he could fix it.
While fixing it, the lights in several classrooms in a row were all extinguished!
Finally, Teacher Victoria, who was teaching in the next class, spent a long time fixing the lights.
“I think it’s getting late, so let these students go home and rest.”
Director Pa Hua Luo Di felt something rushing to his head:
“I just cleaned up your mess! I haven’t even scolded them properly, and you’re letting them go?”
“Well, you can’t say that. I didn’t know I was only a theorist until I put it into practice. Besides, Teacher Victoria handled the aftermath.” His speech remained unhurried, “They’ve been standing for a long time already. Why be so strict with students?”
“That’s not how you taught us back then!”
Had these three been standing for a long time? They were clearly sitting in different places, laughing and chatting! He wondered why the Plant Magic Teacher, who had been in the office earlier, hadn’t done anything.
“Yes, I’ve changed my teaching approach now.” He said calmly, “Didn’t Teacher Qian Jin also change?”
It was the first time they had heard the old man say so much, three pairs of eyes looked at him in unison, each filled with respect.
“Teacher Qian Jin and you…” Oh well, he was their former teacher, so Director Pa Hua Luo Di couldn’t say anything harsh.
“In any case, the three of them must stand in the office tonight to reflect!” No matter what happened, no one could plead for them!
Director Pa Hua Luo Di left angrily after a few words.
Only three students and one teacher remained in the office.
The old man beckoned: “That female student, please come over here.”
Pointing at herself, after confirming, Rui Bu Si walked over, bewildered.
“Teacher Zhong Li Si Ti was sitting in the office earlier, right?”
Oh, Lao Tai. Rui Bu Si nodded.
“The teacher didn’t mean anything else, she just wanted to know how you got that old woman… oh, no, Teacher Zhong Li Si Ti, to turn a blind eye?”
When they entered the Teacher’s Office with Director Pa Hua Luo Di, the old woman was still at her desk. She was not the type to turn a blind eye to students who made mistakes.
After thinking for a moment, Rui Bu Si pulled a photo from her pocket.
The old man took out his reading glasses and looked at it for a long time.
It looked familiar.
But he didn’t remember.
“Who is this?”
“Elder Fei Si Te, this is a limited edition photo of him when he was newly elected as an elder. The Plant Magic Teacher seems to like him, supposedly wanting to introduce him to her granddaughter.”
This rumor was not very credible.
Rui Bu Si believed it was more likely due to Lao Tai’s personal liking.
Girls of any age always like young boys, she knew.
But who likes who isn’t important, the most important thing is to get the teacher to let them off.
Selling the image of an unknown elder is nothing.
Oh~ The old man took off his glasses in realization.
“Young student, can you give me this photo?”
The photo was cautiously put away.
“What’s going on?” Lan Bao quietly pulled Jian Ni aside, “Didn’t you say the teacher was going to introduce her granddaughter to me?”
Why is there suddenly an elder now?
An elder!
How could he compare?
Their voices weren’t loud, but there were only a few people in the office.
The old man cleared his throat. His stern face usually made people afraid, but perhaps because they weren’t in class and weren’t discussing studies, he didn’t seem so intimidating.
“That granddaughter passed away many years ago. She just can’t change her habit of matchmaking.”
Lao Tai likes matchmaking?
Thinking of the books they’d been made to copy, Jian Ni and Lan Bao couldn’t imagine that scene.
Without elaborating on this topic, the old man reluctantly asked again: “The price is negotiable, can you really not give me this photo?”
Oh, money.
“This…”
Money often breaks a person’s will.
And her will was so easily broken.
