Chapter 11: Small World
Is it a dream or an illusion?
Looking at the Bagua that reappeared above his head, Xiang Jiannan’s consciousness was very clear. He didn’t know where he was, as if he had arrived at a scenic spot rated 5A.
A torrent of water rushed past his eyes, carrying a monstrous momentum, flowing from east to west for thousands of miles.
The cries of monkeys and the chirping of birds intertwined in his ears, intermittently, disappearing into the forest without a trace.
The fragrance of flowers and the freshness of grass entered his nose one after another, going straight to his internal organs, refreshing his heart and spleen, with an endless aftertaste.
There was also the unspeakable sound constantly churning in his throat, ultimately only able to open his mouth and stare blankly.
Where is this place? Could it be that I’ve transmigrated again? Only able to stand still, Xiang Jiannan was shocked.
He recognized the Bagua hovering in the air, but he couldn’t connect it with the previous time.
The only part of the Bagua that was lit up was the symbol, and there seemed to be a little bit of green Qi, slowly gathering in the air as it rotated. The magnificent scenery before his eyes, after looking at it for a long time, only made him feel particularly unreal.
If he wasn’t in a dream, then where was his master right now? Compared to the scenery before his eyes, the environment of Ping’an Temple was simply not worth mentioning. The only thing that could compete with it was the small ditch in front of the temple. It was said to be connected to the big river, but the water inlet had been blocked by silt a long time ago.
When the weather got hot, it would emit bursts of stench. After transmigrating to this world, his master had forced him to dredge it several times. He didn’t know what the old Taoist was thinking. Such a huge project, he actually wanted to rely on his disciple’s strength alone to solve it. After digging through the mud and sand a few times, Xiang Jiannan began to learn to slack off.
He wasn’t a diligent person to begin with. While digging, his thoughts would easily drift away with the mockery of others. Everyone else could endure it, so why couldn’t they? Under this scorching sun, it seemed like he was the only fool in the entire Ping’an Town.
He would throw down his tools and find a place to sleep. Anyway, the old Taoist wouldn’t come out to supervise him.
“Master, my body is weak and I can’t be exposed to the sun. Besides, our Ping’an Temple can’t be without someone.”
Even though they hadn’t seen a single incense guest for days, why did he speak with such confidence?
Boom.
Just as he was recalling his master’s face and repeatedly curling his lips, Xiang Jiannan suddenly felt a tremor. When he realized that his body was able to move freely, he saw everything around him slowly becoming blurry.
The Bagua in the air suddenly accelerated, and everything that was beautiful slowly turned into a wisp of green Qi, like a tablecloth being pulled from one corner. In the end, it was all sucked in by the rapidly spinning Bagua.
At the same time, the surroundings immediately fell into darkness.
When the familiar light stung his eyes again, Xiang Jiannan saw that a line had been added to the center of the Bagua, which was now illuminated.
The line was coiled around the edge of the yin-yang fish pattern in the center, like a stream of water, with its head and tail connected.
What a strange dream.
Just like before at the Chen Residence, it felt too unreal. Xiang Jiannan stood in the light, waiting to wake up.
According to the previous process, when he opened his eyes again, he would probably be lying on the soft couch. The Raincoat Man’s palm strike was not light. If his skull wasn’t strong, he would definitely be seeing a different scene right now.
How could a dead person have the right to dream? In the current world, he could only become a lonely soul lying in the darkness.
“Evil creature, quickly accept your death!”
Closing his eyes to try and fall asleep, Xiang Jiannan quickly heard a loud shout. Just as he was wondering if everything just now was real, he felt a piercing pain in his fingers.
Opening his eyes, he saw that the four fingers of his left hand were being firmly stepped on. Looking at the shoes, he knew it was his master, Gao Yu’an, who was doing it.
Such a big foot, and when he looked up, he saw the Taoist robe.
“Master, move a little.”
Completely not expecting to wake up in this way, Xiang Jiannan howled, only caring about pulling his fingers back.
There were two things he couldn’t figure out for the time being, especially the second one, which made him feel scared just thinking about it.
He had been very conscious just now, so why did he suddenly return to reality? And that Pig Demon, why hadn’t his master subdued it yet?
Could it be that he had only been unconscious for a short time?
“Disciple, you’re still alive!”
Turning his head to look at Xiang Jiannan, who had suddenly “risen from the dead,” Gao Yu’an’s tone was full of surprise.
He had always thought that his disciple was done for, but he never expected that he could still come back to life.
The Pig Demon’s palm strike had even brought tears to his eyes. If he had entered the Incense Hall a little earlier, his heart wouldn’t have been bleeding all this time.
A full-force strike from a Third-Rank evil demon hit his crown. His disciple was truly lucky!
“Your disciple isn’t that weak.”
After pulling his fingers a few times and seeing that Gao Yu’an wasn’t moving his foot, Xiang Jiannan raised his head and looked at him with difficulty.
He felt like his fingers were about to break. When he realized that he was still alive, his master had even twisted his shoe soles a few times, probably because he wasn’t standing comfortably. In his joy, he wanted to find a new position.
“Don’t move, as your Teacher, I am thinking of a plan.”
Raising his hand to take off the cloth bag from his body, Gao Yu’an moved his body and also looked at Xiang Jiannan, hesitating, his eyes rolling around under the lamp:
“This Pig Demon is very powerful. As your Teacher, I only have one plan available now.”
“Don’t say it, I won’t believe it even if you do.”
Feeling that Gao Yu’an was going to trick him again, Xiang Jiannan didn’t dare to believe his words anymore. When he raised his eyes to look outside the door, he saw that the Pig Demon was standing in the courtyard, snorting.
It looked indescribably disheveled, and seemed to be injured. The next moment, it would definitely charge in.
“Don’t be afraid, it just got hit by my magical treasure.”
Seeing that Xiang Jiannan’s eyes were only focused on the Pig Demon, Gao Yu’an didn’t seem as nervous as him:
“When an evil demon reveals its true form, it will definitely lose its mind. As long as I use a little trick, this Pig Demon will surely be subdued.”
“What do you need me to do?”
Hearing that what his master said made sense, Xiang Jiannan didn’t rush to express his opinion this time. Although the battle situation was very different from what he had imagined, it was still important to save his life right now. Besides, he didn’t have any other options. At this moment, it was better to keep it short.
“Hold it back, buy me some time!”
Patting Xiang Jiannan’s shoulder, Gao Yu’an also grabbed the cloth bag:
“Don’t engage it head-on, just delay it.”
Engage it head-on? If only I had that ability.
Getting up from the ground and walking towards the outside, Xiang Jiannan felt that his future was bleak. His master had many shortcomings, the most fatal of which was that he thought too highly of his disciple. To make someone who had just returned from the brink of death fight immediately, what a huge amount of trust that was.
Luckily, his head didn’t hurt too much. The hit from the Pig Demon didn’t seem to have left any aftereffects.
“Be quick.”
Blocking the doorway with his thin body, Xiang Jiannan trembled and didn’t forget to urge his master again. But as soon as he turned his head, his intestines almost turned green with regret.
In just a few breaths, his master, who had said he had a plan, had disappeared. The only window in the Incense Hall was now wide open, with a piece of cloth hanging on it. If he wasn’t mistaken, the old Taoist had probably run away!
Just like that night at the Chen Residence, his actions were silent.
“Is he trying to see how many lives I have!”
Stunned, Xiang Jiannan wanted to turn his head to see the Pig Demon again, but he only saw a pair of blood-red eyes approaching him. In his panic, he instinctively retreated, only to be tripped by the threshold and fall back to the ground.
My life is over, you smelly Taoist!
