Ch 50: Zhou Chuoyi’s Dinner Party
“Feili, have you finished the analysis?”
“Beep, Older Brother, analysis complete.”
“Wang Ke, from Tianxing City, 29 years old this year, registered mecha is an SS+ Level 6 Stage Phantom Beast.”
“SS+ Level 6 Stage Phantom Beast?”
Chen Yi paused slightly, memorizing the name Wang Ke.
Chen Yi walked to the bustling city center, randomly found a coffee shop and sat down. Not far from Chen Yi, he saw Qi Lu, overwhelmed and stressed by his work.
Sitting directly in front of Qi Lu was Chai Lang, whose expression seemed somewhat impatient.
“Beep, Qi Lu, 35 years old, pilot of an S Level 2 Stage Xi Rang mecha.”
“Beep, Chai Lang, 36 years old, pilot of an S+ Level 5 Stage Tyrant Jackal mecha.”
“Sir, your coffee.”
Chen Yi picked up the coffee, blew on it, took a gentle sip, and then turned to look at the crowd outside.
“One, two?”
“Beep, Li Yuan.”
“Beep, Qi Sheng…”
Outside, the crowd surged, everyone busy with their own affairs, while Chen Yi’s mind continuously received Feili’s voice.
“Qi, Chen…”
Chen Yi mumbled something, his eyes fixed on each person’s words, actions, and expressions. According to the data, everyone subconsciously shook their heads.
The subtle movement was almost invisible without careful observation.
And their gazes were strangely unsettling when they looked at him.
After an unknown amount of time, Chen Yi slowly stood up, stretching. He could largely confirm certain things; the rest would be tested by time.
Looking at the setting sun, Chen Yi glanced at the electronic clock in the coffee shop; it seemed dinner time had arrived.
Chen Yi went to the kindergarten to pick up Yu Guagua, holding her hand as they hurried towards Zhou Chuoyi’s home.
A free meal? Why not?
Walking along the road, Chen Yi watched flying cars speeding across the sky and glimpses of spaceships all heading in the same direction.
In an instant, the once bright night sky became dazzlingly colorful.
Zhou Chuoyi was the Third Miss of the Jingming City Zhou Family. She was here to hone her skills.
In Hua Country, there are seven Great Families: Zhou, Qing, Gu, Liu, Yu, Qin, and Ye. They were the original founders of Hua Country, possessing immense power and controlling some of the country’s strongest fighting forces.
The Third Miss Zhou Family’s birthday banquet would inevitably attract attention from various factions.
Chen Yi stood with Yu Guagua not far from Zhou Chuoyi’s front door, where several of the starships he had seen earlier were hovering directly above.
“Wow, Yu Chenyi, your connections are amazing.”
Yu Guagua put her hands on her hips, staring in disbelief at the scene, utterly shocked.
“Little brat.”
Chen Yi patted the little girl’s head, took out the invitation, and examined it at the door.
The two robots at the entrance stared at Chen Yi, making him feel uneasy.
“Beep, Miss’s honored guest.”
In the next second, a white light flashed, and Chen Yi appeared on one side of the hall.
“Wow!”
Yu Guagua released Chen Yi’s hand and ran straight towards the food area. Chen Yi quickly glanced around.
Not many people had arrived yet. Thinking this, Chen Yi also rushed to the food area.
Befitting a wealthy family, Chen Yi stared, dumbfounded, at the endless food area, unsure what to eat.
Yu Guagua, however, didn’t hesitate, grabbing nearby sweets and eating them one after another.
Chen Yi grabbed a piece of meat of unknown type and put it in his mouth. As soon as it touched his tongue, his brows relaxed, and he used both hands to eat.
Meanwhile, by the abandoned building on the edge of the suburbs where Chen Yi had passed that morning…
A line of people stood, their eyes vacant, their eye sockets sunken, staring blankly ahead.
Before them stood the mysterious Man in Black from the previous night.
Insects crawled out of their mouths, slowly slithering into the mysterious man’s sleeves, an invisible Sky Curtain slowly forming.
On the other hand, Chen Yi was enjoying his meal when he turned to find Yu Guagua had disappeared.
Chen Yi put down the meat. Yu Guagua had been nearby just moments ago; how could she vanish so suddenly?
A powerful energy began to fill the hall. Chen Yi frowned, realizing something was wrong. He used his mind to sense Yu Guagua’s location, and when he found her…
Chen Yi’s face stiffened, his expressionless as he walked towards Yu Guagua.
“Waaah.”
Yu Guagua was sitting on the ground crying, a handprint now on her face, and a rather tall little boy standing before her.
The little boy was arrogant, holding a small cake. Behind him stood a richly dressed woman.
“What are you crying for, you little wretch!”
She looked down at Yu Guagua with disdain. She had heard her son say this little vagrant had no parents; how dare she even come to such an upscale place?
She must have sneaked in from somewhere.
Everyone here was rich and powerful.
And not only did she appear here, but she even dared to fight with her son over food!
Chen Yi, his face dark, pushed through the crowd and slapped the so-called noblewoman, sending her flying. She landed some distance away.
She lay on the ground, foaming at the mouth, her life uncertain.
The crowd was shocked. This guy actually… actually dared to strike out?
Was he crazy? This was the Zhou Family’s event; wasn’t he afraid?
“He… he hit someone!?”
“Oh my god!?”
Chen Yi was consumed by rage, appearing calm on the surface but his inner fury about to erupt.
This scene reminded him of his childhood, of the 12-year-old him, helpless and relying only on his fists.
He wouldn’t allow Yu Guagua to be bullied, no longer caring about any principles of the weak.
Following his own heart was most important, because anyone would have reacted the same way.
Chen Yi didn’t ask who was wrong; as a parent, he would always stand by his child, regardless of right or wrong.
If wrong, he’d take responsibility; if not, and they were still bullied, they’d face his wrath.
Chen Yi calmly picked up Yu Guagua. With Feili’s discreet treatment, the injuries on Yu Guagua’s face slowly healed.
Yu Guagua looked at Chen Yi with grievance, her lips pouting, her eyes still glistening with tears. Chen Yi gently wiped away her tears.
“Don’t cry, don’t cry. Did he bully you?”
Yu Guagua nodded, recounting what had happened.
Yu Guagua had wanted to eat a small cake, holding it ready to leave.
But the boy rushed over and pushed Yu Guagua to the ground. Yu Guagua wanted to hit him back.
She thought better of it and got up, ignoring him.
But the boy seemed to see it as a game, continuing to knock Yu Guagua to the ground, causing her to hit her head.
Yu Guagua stood up and pushed him back, which prompted his mother to slap her.
And then she called her a parentless child.
Chen Yi narrowed his eyes, suppressing his killing intent, and looked at the small, chubby boy.
A single glance was enough to frighten the boy into wetting himself and bursting into tears.
The crowd began to accuse Chen Yi, saying he hit a woman and bullied a child.
Chen Yi looked at the accusing crowd, his heart unmoved.
When the truth was unclear, power was the best defense.
He had intended to celebrate Zhou Chuoyi’s birthday, but this world of the wealthy was truly incomprehensible.
