Ch 74: Kill the past and the present self that fears it. Face your heart, Chen Yi.
“This, this is impossible!”
Chen Yi’s eyes widened in disbelief as he watched this scene unfold. The Emperor Alien and Lugusite, who had already died, were suddenly resurrected!?
These two Monsters wouldn’t give Chen Yi a chance to think. Immediately, countless amounts of Energy were unleashed onto Chen Yi.
His injuries hadn’t healed, and his physical strength was dwindling. In his current state, he could only take a beating. The Timer on his chest flashed red.
Ding dong, ding dong.”
“Leo, Leo…”
“Leo.”
Call after call failed to send Leo strength. People could only cover their mouths, watching this hero with tears in their eyes.
There was no hope, no light. Everything depended on himself.
Facing the attacks of the Emperor Alien and Lugusite, Chen Yi’s consciousness gradually blurred. He even saw four or five Emperor Aliens before him.
Just as Chen Yi was about to close his eyes, a blurry figure appeared in the distance. She stumbled, continuously running towards Chen Yi.
Even if it cost her life, she would run to him without hesitation.
“No, Mom, Mother!”
“No, don’t come…”
“Hum!”
Lugusite unleashed a wave of Energy from its body in all directions. That Energy would surely wipe out everything around it.
Chen Yi forced his heavy eyelids open, using the last ounce of strength he had to shield his Mother. His eyes were wet, and he no longer had time to properly bid farewell to his Mother.
“My eyelids are heavy, Mother…”
Leo lay weakly before Yu Yinyin. His usually bright yellow eyes were now dull.
Yu Yinyin, eyes red, opened her arms. She transformed into a light and entered Chen Yi’s body.
“Hum, hum.”
Chen Yi floated motionlessly in a still Time-Space. Before him were scenes from another world of his own.
An infant, a young man, a middle-aged man—he had wasted his life, living without purpose. He helped many people. He wanted to be the person his Mother most hoped he would be, but his Mother would never be resurrected.
He quietly watched all this. A figure gently embraced him from behind. The familiar voice made Chen Yi’s eyes brighten.
When he turned around, it was his Mother. She was smiling at him.
“Child, what are you grieving about?”
“I…”
“Sorry, Mother.”
Chen Yi lowered his head. A huge stone seemed to press on his chest, making it hard to breathe. Heaven had given him a chance, but this time, he hadn’t grasped it. He had lost his Mother again.
“You know, Xiao Yi.”
“You loved watching Ultraman, from childhood to adulthood.”
“You always told me that Ultraman is a powerful race in the Universe.”
“But Ultraman is not a God. Even if it tries its best, there will be lives it cannot save and feelings it cannot convey.”
“Everything you did was always better than others.”
“No matter how you live, you should always maintain your beliefs, live for yourself.”
“No matter what happens, you should always uphold your ideals.”
“Mother never blamed you. You should say goodbye to the person you were in the past, and say goodbye to the fear of losing the person you are now.”
“Forget him, confront him, overcome him.”
“Forget him…”
“Belief…”
“Say goodbye to your past and present self…”
Yu Yinyin’s words were like a light. Chen Yi thought whatever he did, she knew. She tore apart Chen Yi’s Darkness.
“Xiao Yi, remember, you must live your own life, Xiao Yi…”
Those voices appeared in Chen Yi’s mind, fading from strong to weak.
Chen Yi pursed his lips, suppressing his tears. When he came to his senses, his Mother had already disappeared.
But the traces of tears on his clothes remained, proving that his Mother had been there, that she had always been in his heart, never lost.
A young man emerged. This time, Chen Yi saw his face clearly—his 16-year-old self. He smiled, standing in the distance.
Another self, a middle-aged man, also appeared, quietly watching him.
They raised their hands, mimicking handguns. Two beams of light struck Chen Yi’s forehead.
Chen Yi fell backward. Everything was changing, space collapsing like shards of a mirror.
“Goodbye…”
Chen Yi opened his eyes. Leo’s dull eyes lit up. He quickly stood up and looked back.
Unexpectedly, the Emperor Alien and Lugusite didn’t attack him, but stood in the distance, watching Chen Yi.
They seemed to be smiling, as if congratulating him.
“Congratulations, you have defeated us…”
“Ying…”
Hum, hum.”
The Emperor Alien and Lugusite slowly turned into a black nothingness, disappearing from the planet.
The sky above began to collapse like a mirror. Everything slowly vanished, as if it were an illusion.
“Huff, huff!”
Chen Yi suddenly opened his eyes, scanning his surroundings. Everything was familiar, unchanged.
“Home?”
Chen Yi felt like he had a dream, an incredibly real dream, as if it had actually happened.
Chen Yi stood up and smelled the aroma of a Cooked Meal. He went outside to look, and his Mother was preparing breakfast.
Chen Yi held back his tears, not letting them fall. He sat at the table and squeezed Yu Guagua’s rosy cheeks.
“Yu, Chen Yi!”
Yu Guagua angrily pushed Chen Yi’s hand away, her cheeks puffed up. Chen Yi continued to pinch her, as if forgetting everything that had happened.
“Mom! Yu Chenyi is bullying me!”
Yu Guagua seemed to have accepted her identity. She felt that Yu Yinyin was her Mother, only a Mother would love her so much.
“I’ll help you beat him up.”
Yu Yinyin covered her mouth and giggled, holding a delicious-looking meal in her left hand.
“Crunch, crunch.”
Feili made some sounds, as if the place felt like home. Chen Yi pursed his lips and ate a piece of meat.
Chen Yi looked at his marked calendar. He seemed to know what had happened.
He had to prove it, to catch the last villain. But before that, he would enjoy his Mother’s breakfast first.
