Chapter 10: It could only be Song, the Village Bully
In the afternoon, Song Chu and Song’s Eldest Brother went to work together.
The pigs from the morning hadn’t been washed yet, so he continued with that, and afterward, he still had to cook the pig feed for the afternoon.
Song Chu had nothing to do. Thinking about the vegetables lacking oil, she wanted to go up the mountain to see if she could catch some pheasants or wild rabbits to improve their meals, and also to see if there was anything useful.
She picked up a back basket and a sickle, “Big Brother, I’m going up the mountain.”
Song’s Eldest Brother thought she was going to cut pigweed again, “Okay, go ahead.”
The people going to work saw Song Chu carrying a back basket up the mountain again, and they all found it unbelievable.
Many people were secretly betting on how many days Song Chu could last. Most thought it would be two days at most, a few said three days, but none believed she could keep it up for long.
Song Chu went up the mountain without stopping. The mountain near the village was divided into the front mountain and the back mountain.
The front mountain was where everyone was active, such as cutting pigweed, digging wild vegetables, picking wild fruits, and chopping firewood.
The back mountain was deeper, and wild animals often appeared there. It was said that there were tigers, wolves, and bears, as well as many snake nests. Some villagers had gone in before and never returned, and some were bitten and died after returning. Therefore, almost no one in the village dared to go deep into the back mountain.
For Song Chu, it didn’t matter. Her body was still relatively healthy, and she was born with supernatural strength. In addition to the combat skills she had honed in the apocalypse, she wasn’t afraid of encountering wolves or tigers.
After going deep into the mountain forest, she dug up any edible wild vegetables she saw and threw them into her back basket.
Soon she encountered a wild rabbit. She picked up a stone from the ground, aimed, and threw it.
The rabbit had just jumped up to run when it was hit on the head by the stone she threw and fainted.
She picked up the rabbit and threw it into her back basket, then continued walking.
She encountered another pheasant and used a stone to hit it again, then tied its feet and threw it into her back basket.
Although this kind of virgin forest had many potential dangers, it was also a natural treasure trove. Animals and plants had not mutated as they had in the apocalypse, and Song Chu felt like a fish in water.
She saw some wild chestnuts and knocked some down.
She had a chicken and a wild rabbit, and had also dug up quite a few wild vegetables. Just as she was about to go back, she suddenly heard a noise in the distance, like someone shouting.
If it weren’t for her sensitive psychic power, she wouldn’t have been able to perceive it at all.
So she ran in that direction. About a few hundred meters away, she saw an old man who had fallen on the ground, and a middle-aged man was trying to help him up. Behind them, a large python was chasing them.
“You go first, don’t worry about me,” the old man pushed the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man was sweating profusely, “We can’t escape.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the python opened its big mouth and quickly tried to coil around them.
The middle-aged man gritted his teeth, stood in front of the old man, and closed his eyes, waiting for death.
There was no way. Encountering such a large python that had chased them for a while, they had no ability to resist.
“No,” the old man shouted in a somewhat desperate and hoarse voice.
Then, at the most critical moment, a sickle flew from a distance, and the sharp blade slashed the snake’s head, cutting it off. He widened his eyes in disbelief.
The middle-aged man in front closed his eyes and found that he was not entangled. He couldn’t help but open his eyes again, and then he was stunned.
The snake that was about to bite him had lost its vitality. Its head and body were separated and fell to the ground. Next to it was a bloody sickle.
Then he heard footsteps, and he immediately turned his head to see a young woman with fair skin and beautiful features walking over.
He recognized her at a glance. This was the famous female village bully in the village.
Although they didn’t walk around the village much, Song Chu’s reputation was too loud, and her appearance was too outstanding, so she was easy to recognize.
“Did you throw this sickle?” He came back to his senses and asked Song Chu.
◈◈◈
Song Chu smiled as she walked, “Who else?”
“Th, thank you!” Zhao Di swallowed. This female village bully was so powerful. They had been saying that she had great strength, but he didn’t expect it to be this great.
To be able to cut off the head of such a large snake with a throw of a sickle, it was the first time he had seen such a thing in his life.
Song Chu walked over, wiped the blood off the sickle on the nearby grass, and picked up the snake’s body.
Today’s harvest was really good. Such a fat snake could be taken back to make snake soup and eaten for several meals.
“Comrade Song, are you going to take this back to eat?” Zhao Di watched her easily lift the more than six-meter-long python’s body with one hand and wrap it around her arm, and he couldn’t help but admire her.
Which girl would be so bold? It could only be Song, the Village Bully. This was a large python that could swallow a person.
Song Chu nodded, “Yes, this snake is dead. It would be a waste not to eat it.”
Then she looked at the somewhat disheveled middle-aged man, “Do you want some of the snake too?”
The middle-aged man pointed to the snake’s head on the ground with some embarrassment, “This is what you hunted, so naturally it belongs to you. I just wonder if I could take this?”
Someone in their cowshed was sick and needed nourishment. The snake’s head was cut off at a relatively long position, so there was a lot of meat that could be stewed.
Song Chu said indifferently, “I don’t want this anymore, you can take it.”
“Are you the people living in the cowshed?” She saw the middle-aged man turn around to help the old man who had fallen earlier, and asked.
Zhao Di replied, “Yes.”
“Why did you come into the deep mountains? And with an old man,” Song Chu looked at the two of them, their combat power was very weak, and it was easy to encounter danger in this kind of deep forest.
Zhao Di replied, “Someone in our cowshed is sick, so we had to come up the mountain to gather medicine to make a decoction. We walked farther without realizing it. We had just dug up a medicinal herb when we disturbed a large python in the grass, and it chased after us.”
“I see. Did you find all the medicine you needed?” Song Chu smelled a medicinal scent on the old man he was supporting, and guessed that this person should have been a doctor before being sent down.
Zhao Di remembered the medicine, “We found it. It was to find this last one that we came here. But when we encountered the python, I threw away the back basket.”
“Is it in front? I’ll help you get it back,” Song Chu asked.
Zhao Di turned around and pointed in a direction, “Over there, thank you.”
Song Chu walked about ten meters forward and saw a back basket thrown in front of a patch of grass, with many medicinal herbs inside. She picked it up and walked back.
“You should come down the mountain with me.” Seeing the two of them like this, if they encountered any more dangerous animals, they would definitely not be able to get out.
Zhao Di was delighted and hurriedly said, “Thank you, thank you so much.”
He was still worrying about how to get out because he had been so focused on following and looking for medicine that he didn’t remember the way in. If they encountered wild beasts again, they would be done for.
“Comrade, thank you so much just now,” Old Lu, who Zhao Di was supporting, was still a little shaken, obviously frightened just now.
Song Chu smiled, “It’s nothing, I like to help others.”
“……” What about the village bully who was said to be gluttonous, lazy, and specialized in bullying people?
It seemed that the rumors were not true. This was clearly a warm-hearted and helpful girl.
Song Chu picked up the snake’s head on the ground and put it in their back basket, carrying both baskets on one shoulder. Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly saw a patch of plants not far away, and her eyes lit up.
