Ch 152: Revolutionary Army
On the other side.
Because Olivia suddenly went to a conference, before leaving, she had her trusted subordinate escort Lorin safely back home.
Afterwards, Lorin left the Gendarmerie building with several officers of the 2nd Legion.
They had just reached the car parked at the entrance and were about to leave when something unexpected happened.
It turned out that the nuns who had been arrested by the gendarmes earlier, after being released, had not chosen to leave.
They stood silently at the entrance of the Gendarmerie building, and when they noticed Lorin’s figure coming out, they immediately, as if they had found their target, swarmed forward.
Seeing this, the soldiers responsible for escorting Lorin dared not be negligent and quickly stepped forward to stop the overly enthusiastic nuns.
“Hey, hey, hey! Please move quickly! Don’t come near here!” one soldier shouted.
However, these nuns did not seem to take the soldiers’ warnings to heart, and still rushed towards Lorin regardless.
“Please, His Highness Lorin, please tell us, how is Abbess Agnes now?”
An anxious voice came from the crowd.
Lorin raised his hand to signal the soldiers not to drive them away. He looked at the nuns and said, “Agnes has committed a serious crime under Empire law and is currently imprisoned. You should go back to the church; the Gendarmerie is not a safe place.”
The nuns’ faces showed sadness after hearing this.
One very young nun asked, “His Highness Lorin, what crime did Sister Agnes commit? Was it because of what happened in the church before? I hope you are magnanimous and let her go.”
Lorin shook his head. “No, I cannot reveal Agnes’s matter; you should go quickly.”
The nuns were disappointed, and Lorin got into the car without looking back.
The officers and soldiers also got in the car, and the car quickly started, heading towards Lorin’s home.
In the car, Lorin looked at the street scene receding outside the window; his mood was very complex.
Because when he was interrogating Agnes, Agnes took the opportunity to hug him. At that time, what everyone didn’t know was that while hugging Lorin, Agnes whispered something in Lorin’s ear.
At that time, Agnes said:
“Lorin, since you defeated me and kept your promise, I’ll tell you the real reason your father, Andre, started the rebellion—it’s the Revolutionary Army.”
This sentence was very short and was whispered in Lorin’s ear, and the other people present did not hear it.
But it made Lorin very doubtful because he didn’t know what the Revolutionary Army was.
He was puzzled; he had never heard of this organization since he was a child. Why would Agnes say that his father, Andre, started the rebellion because of this so-called Revolutionary Army?
Lorin pondered, his mood very complex.
Agnes whispered it so cautiously in his ear, surely she didn’t want the others present to hear it. Perhaps this so-called “Revolutionary Army” has some unknown secret?
Lorin thought hard, but couldn’t come up with an answer, so he decided not to think about it anymore.
The car slowly stopped in front of Lorin’s house, and Lorin got out of the car and said goodbye to the several officers of the 2nd Legion.
Then he walked straight into the villa’s courtyard. As soon as he entered the gate, he saw Korvi and Alaya sweeping snow in the courtyard.
“Master, you’re back.”
Alaya quickly put down her broom and ran to Lorin’s side.
“Lorin, are you cold? Come inside to warm up,” Korvi said with concern.
Seeing their concern, Lorin also smiled.
“It’s okay, I’m not cold. It’s good exercise. Alaya, help me find a shovel; I’ll clear the snow in the courtyard with you.”
“Okay, Master.”
Alaya immediately brought a shovel and gave it to Lorin.
The three of them in the courtyard, each picked up their tools and started to work.
Alaya worked diligently; she forcefully swung her small broom, sweeping the snow together.
Korvi worked with her, humming an unknown tune while working, adding a cheerful atmosphere to the cold winter day.
Lorin forcefully swung his shovel, shoveling the swept snow onto a small cart and then using the cart to transport it to a corner of the courtyard.
Korvi occasionally looked up at Lorin and Alaya, her eyes full of happiness.
While sweeping snow, Alaya playfully scooped up a handful of snow, rolled it into a snowball, and threw it at Lorin.
With a “Whoosh,” the snowball hit Lorin’s shoulder and broke.
Lorin was stunned for a moment, then reacted, the corners of his mouth rising. “Alright, Alaya, you dare attack me?”
He quickly bent down, grabbed a handful of snow, made it into a snowball, and retaliated against Alaya.
Alaya screamed, nimbly dodging, her laughter echoing in the courtyard. Korvi, seeing this, couldn’t help but join the snowball fight.
“Haha.”
“Ah.”
For a time, snowballs flew everywhere in the courtyard, and the three people’s happy laughter and the flying snowflakes intertwined, as if the whole world became warm and beautiful.
After playing tired, the three sat on the steps at the entrance to rest. All three were panting, their hot breath turning into wisps of ethereal white mist in the air.
Alaya had a satisfied smile on her face: “Master, Sister Korvi, today was really fun.”
Lorin smiled and said, “Yes, I wish we could have days like this every day.”
Korvi also smiled and nodded. “We will, we definitely will.”
She quietly shifted, trying to get closer to Lorin, savoring this warm moment.
After resting for a while, the three continued to work together to sweep the snow. With their combined efforts, the snow in the courtyard was quickly cleared.
Lorin looked at the finally clean courtyard, then he looked at the huge Mech Iron Coffin in the center of the courtyard.
“I can’t let it be exposed to the snow like this.”
Then, Lorin retrieved a large tarp from the small warehouse.
The three of them worked together to cover the Iron Coffin containing the Apophis Mech with the tarp, preventing the snow from seeping in.
After finishing this work, the three of them let out a long sigh of relief. Although their bodies were a little tired, smiles were on their faces.
Back inside the house, Alaya quickly brought over a kettle of hot water and made warm hot tea for everyone.
She also relit the fireplace and added more coal.
The fiery fire emitted warm red light; the three sat around the fireplace in the living room, drinking hot tea and warming themselves.
