Ch 134: When Digging A Hole Leads To A Tomb
“Randall? What are you doing here?”
Bal walked to the man’s side and patted his shoulder. The man turned to look at Bal, his expression one of great surprise.
“Master! How did you get here? I heard a loud rumbling sound just now, so I came to take a look. I didn’t expect the maze to collapse so soon after I entered.”
“A bit of private business. How about you? Are you alright?”
“I’m fine!”
Bal Jeanphia helped Randall with a check-up. After confirming he was alright, Bal continued to ask.
“Where are your team members? Why aren’t they here?”
“I came alone to the ranch to buy food. Sister Shelly told me that a maze appeared here last night, so I came over.”
“I see. Then it’s fine. By the way, did you see Councilman Sheffield? I saw him riding his horse into the maze when I arrived.”
“No.”
“Strange, could it be that I saw wrong?”
Bal pondered for a long time. At this time, Phia patted Randall’s shoulder.
“Did you see a white horse? The horse had a rather old saddle.”
“Mistress, now that you mention it, I think I did. There’s an extra white horse at Sister Shelly’s ranch.”
“Okay, let’s go over there first. You should go back early; food will go bad if left out too long.”
Hearing Phia’s words, Randall panicked.
“Whoa! My groceries are still at the ranch! I’ll go first!”
“Go ahead.”
After bidding farewell to the three, Randall quickly ran towards Shelly’s Ranch. Phia also pulled Bal and called Colt to go to the ranch together; they were going to check out the white horse.
When the three arrived at the ranch, Randall had just left with the groceries he had purchased. Phia found Shelly to ask about the horse.
“Shelly, I heard you have an extra white horse at your ranch. We want to take a look.”
“Sure, follow me.”
Shelly led the three to the horse area; there was only one white horse, easy to see.
“Let me see.”
Bal took out the commission slip and began to compare it with the horse. Phia continued to ask Shelly.
“I heard from Randall that this horse seems to have an old saddle. Where is the saddle?”
“Oh, you mean that dirty saddle? I saw that the saddle was covered in dirt, so I took it to wash it. It’s still drying now.”
After Shelly finished speaking, Bal also finished the comparison and confirmed that this horse was Councilman Sheffield’s horse.
“Miss Shelly, can I take this horse away?”
“Huh? Do you know the owner of this child?”
“Yes, I was commissioned by its owner to bring it back.”
“No problem. I’ll go get the saddle.”
After Shelly finished speaking, she went to get the saddle. Phia and Bal walked to the side of the white horse and gently stroked it.
“How did you end up here? We’re taking you back now.”
The white horse docilely rubbed against Phia’s hand, but when Bal also wanted to touch it, the horse began to avoid Bal’s hand.
“Hey! You little horse, you’re quite flirtatious, huh!”
Having said that, Bal began to play with the horse.
“I don’t believe it today. I must punish you!”
When Shelly returned with the saddle, she saw Bal chasing the white horse, and the horse kept looking back to taunt Bal.
“What’s wrong with them?”
Shelly walked to Phia’s side. After Phia explained Bal’s antics with the horse, she covered her mouth and laughed.
After Bal caught the white horse, Shelly walked to the side of the horse. She gently stroked the horse’s back, and the horse, which had been unwilling to cooperate, immediately became docile. Shelly took the opportunity to place the saddle on the horse’s back and led the horse and Bal out of the horse area.
“Are we going back?”
“Yes, thank you, Miss Shelly.”
“You’re welcome. Come and play again sometime.”
“I will.”
Phia waved goodbye to Shelly while riding the horse. Then Bal and Colt led the horse back to town.
“Colt, take the horse back to Councilman Sheffield’s place. I still have something to do.”
“Okay, I’ll leave then. Little White, let’s go.”
After Colt led the white horse away, Bal and Phia went to the school construction site.
“President Norman, I have a favor to ask of you.”
Bal found Norman, who was just about to finish work.
“What is it?”
Seeing Norman’s reply, Bal took out the Maze Core.
“Can you dig a space under the school building? I got a Maze Core and plan to make a maze for teaching purposes.”
Norman’s eyes lit up when he saw the Maze Core.
“Wow, a rare item. No problem. I’ll start tomorrow. Any requirements? For that hollow space.”
“Dig it deeper, about the area of this region. Make the opening closer to the school building.”
“No problem! But this will delay the completion by a month. Is that okay?”
“It’s fine. We’re still doing publicity, and this adds another publicity point, which can attract more people.”
“Okay, I’ll start tomorrow. The workers need to go home today. I also need to go back to the association to see if there’s any trouble I need to deal with. I’ll go first, bye-bye.”
“Goodbye.”
Bal and Phia waved goodbye. After looking around the school, they returned home.
A week later, Bal received some good and bad news.
“What do you mean they dug up an ancient person’s tomb?”
Bal sat on the sofa in his office, looking at the letter Norman had sent. He had a headache. So Bal had to go to the Council Hall with Norman to discuss the tomb.
They asked around, and no one in the Council Hall had ever seen such a situation. At this time, Sheffield learned about this and came downstairs to find the two.
“Buck, Norman, come with me.”
Sheffield took the two to his office. He first thanked Bal for helping him find his white horse, and then he started talking about the tomb.
“There’s no academy here, so usually no one cares about ancient people’s things. But I think it’s still necessary to protect this tomb. What do you think?”
“I have no objection.”
Norman didn’t really care; he wasn’t interested in ancient people, only the project.
“How long will it take?”
Bal was more concerned about the time issue, after all, they still had to publicize the school; delaying it too long would not be good for him and Norman.
Sheffield thought for a moment, took out a piece of paper, and started writing something. After a while, he looked up at Bal.
“Speaking of which, what are you digging underground for?”
“I want to make a teaching maze. I got a Maze Core a while ago and plan to use it.”
“I see…”
After hearing Bal’s answer, Sheffield continued to make changes on the paper. Finally, he looked up and said.
“I remember your wife is a very powerful Archmage, right? Can you ask your wife for help? This can save a lot of time.”
“Fei’er? No problem, I’ll talk to her.”
“Okay, I’ll wait for your reply. Just come to my office then. I’ll have someone send you a temporary pass this afternoon.”
“Okay, we’ll go back then.”
Bal and Norman walked out of the Council Hall. Norman looked at Bal and slowly said.
“Your wife looks quite young. She’s already an Archmage?”
“Heh, unexpected, right?”
“I envy you.”
They chatted casually. Bal followed Norman to the construction site; he wanted to see the tomb.
Under the guidance of the workers, Bal went underground. He saw a stone tablet and pointed at it, asking the person beside him.
“Can I take this stone tablet back to take a look?”
“Okay, it’s a bit heavy, be careful when you move it.”
Bal, after enhancing his strength, lifted the stone tablet. After saying goodbye to Norman, he went home.
“Phia, come here, I need you.”
Bal put the stone tablet on the ground next to the sofa. Phia, hearing Bal’s call, entered the house from the backyard carrying Philia.
“What is it?”
“Look at this.”
Phia followed Bal’s gaze and saw the stone tablet on the ground. Then she asked Philia to find Nia and started researching the stone tablet herself.
