Ch 515: What Will You Do If You Can’t Go Back?
Time returned to the present. Gao Wen, carrying Clova who had been put to sleep by Phia’s magic, left the Guangyue Town area. When they returned to the Border of God’s Country, Clova finally woke up.
“Ugh… Where am I?”
Clova was being carried by Garrick, who began to explain after hearing Clova’s voice.
“You’re finally awake. We’re currently returning to God’s Country.”
“Did you capture the Divine Child?”
“No, Gao Wen agreed to the other party’s conditions and plans to go back and ask about the situation.”
“Tsk, boring. Next time I encounter that woman, I’ll definitely kill her!”
Gao Wen heard Clova and Garrick’s conversation. He walked to Garrick’s side and looked at Clova.
“Awake? Are you alright?”
“I’m fine, Hero Lord.”
The slightly sarcastic tone made Gao Wen a little uncomfortable. Although he didn’t like Clova much either, they were companions after all, so there was no need to speak harshly.
“I intend to investigate what those people said earlier. What concerns me most is the information about the Demon King. If the Demon King is really dead, then we can’t rely on Archbishop Sebas when we go back.”

Garrick put Clova on the ground. After Clova moved around a little, she walked beside Garrick. She used Wind Magic to transmit her words into Garrick’s ear.
“What do you think?”
“Hehehe, let’s play with this Hero Lord for a while. If we turn against him now, he might become an obstacle.”
“Tch, troublesome man.”
The four-person squad quickly returned to the Border of God’s Country. They didn’t choose to return to the Great Temple, but went to the Border City to start inquiring about information. Gao Wen’s way of gathering information was very primitive; he went directly to the tavern and asked the people drinking there about the Demon King.
“Huh? You mean the Demon King? I remember a few years ago a Hero from the Ferenti Kingdom killed the Demon King. Now that the Demon Race has no Demon King, things are chaotic over there.”
“What Demon King? He’s been dead for several years.”
“The Demon King? Do I look like the Demon King? Besides, you have time to ask these questions in God’s Country. Why don’t you go to the Kingdom and have a look? I think you’re quite capable; going to the Kingdom shouldn’t be a problem.”
The answers Gao Wen got from the tavern patrons were surprisingly consistent, which made him start to doubt whether Sebas’ words were true, and whether he could still return to his original world to take care of his sister.
“Want a drink?”
Ona sat down beside Gao Wen with a glass of slightly chilled Light Beer. Although she kept saying it was troublesome, she had never been lazy when it came to things Gao Wen decided or instructed. Gao Wen took the Wine Cup and took a sip of the Otherworld’s Light Beer. This was his first time drinking alcohol.
“Ugh, a bit bitter.”
“It’s alright. Nothing is as bitter as my previous life.”
Ona expressionlessly took a sip of Light Beer, then rested her upper body on the table.
“Speaking of which, we haven’t talked about our lives in our original world yet. Let me start. Do you know what I did in my original world?”
Gao Wen shook his head. He was only focused on going home and hadn’t thought about such things.

“What would you do if you really couldn’t go back?”

Gao Wen was speechless. Before coming to this world, the only person he could rely on was his sister, who was still in school. But his sister had a rare disease. Although it rarely occurred, it was very painful when it did. Gao Wen’s daily life consisted of going to school, working part-time, and then going home to take care of his sister. Ona didn’t continue. She lay back down on the table.

After a while, after the two finished their drinks, they returned to the Inn. Clova and Garrick had already returned as well.

Clova mocked Gao Wen.
