Bal already reached for the short sword at his lower back. He was confident he could eliminate the man in front of him in an instant without being noticed by passersby. Garrick also knew Bal’s intentions; he shook his head.

“I advise you not to think that way, after all…”

Garrick took out a crystal ball showing Remilia and Garrick facing off.

“If I die now, things will be difficult for that Miss.”

“What do you intend to do?”

Bal stopped drawing his sword. He glared fiercely at the man in front of him, a man he found disgusting. Seeing Bal stop, Garrick smiled contentedly and beckoned Bal to follow.

“Come with me. I mean you no harm this time.”

“Hard to say.”

“Oh dear, it seems I’ve been greatly misunderstood.”

Garrick’s feigned wronged expression made Bal’s temples throb. If this guy hadn’t taken Remilia hostage, Bal would have definitely shown him a dazzling display of swordsmanship.

“Come with me. I just want to talk to you. Don’t worry, as long as you’re willing to chat with me for a bit, that Miss will be safe.”

“You better keep your word, or I’ll hunt you to the ends of the earth.”

Bal followed Garrick. Garrick didn’t take Bal towards the Great Temple; instead, he led him to a tavern.

“Hmm~This tavern serves good drinks. I recall you’re a member here, right? May I have a couple of drinks inside?”

“Don’t worry, I’ll only have one. After all, too much alcohol hurts the brain.”

Garrick took Bal into the tavern. After Bal gave Grey’s membership number, he asked the bartender for the worst bottle of wine Grey kept there.

“Here you go. You’d better get to the point.”

“Hahahaha, the Senior is quite generous.”

Garrick took a small sip of the wine before him. His constantly smiling face revealed nothing else.

“Senior, I have a question for you.”

Bal paused and continued.

With that, Bal quickly drew his dagger and severed the man’s head. The people in the tavern were initially surprised, but when they realized Bal had severed the head of a puppet, they didn’t care.

“Sorry, enjoy your drinks. My puppet malfunctioned, and I need to take it back for repairs.”

Bal finished the wine in his cup in one gulp, then dragged the puppet out of the tavern.

Phia held her spear, her magic erupting. She would destroy the puppet immediately if it made a single move.

“I am afraid of death, because I still have many unfinished tasks. Please forgive my sudden appearance. I just want to talk to you.”

“There’s nothing to talk about.”

Phia’s magic shot out from the magic formation behind her, but just as the lightning was about to strike Garrick’s puppet, Phia stopped. Garrick’s hand held a crystal ball, showing Remilia.

“I don’t think you want this Miss to leave the stage so early, do you?”

“Despicable Villain.”

“Hee hee hee, I don’t care how you address me. I just want to ask you a few questions.”

“What do you want to ask?”

“I want to know why, with your and your Senior’s incredible strength, unmatched in the world, you have no desire for power? Why, after suffering the Kingdom’s betrayal, can you still tolerate its existence?”

Phia sneered, seeing that the other party was genuinely curious.

Garrick showed Remilia the scenes of his two puppets’ conversations with Bal and Phia.

“Sorry, your friend doesn’t seem to care much about your life or death.”

Garrick’s smile became even more chilling. Several strands of constantly moving threads appeared in his hands, and he slowly approached Remilia.

“Marlos, run. He’s after me.”

Remilia pushed Marlos away. She had heard from Bal and Phia about Garrick’s abilities: if touched by those threads, she would become Garrick’s controlled puppet. Remilia drew the dagger hidden on her person.
