Chapter 262: Slaughter, Successfully Severing the Good Corpse
This sleep lasted for three days and three nights.
Three days later, Bai Ze slowly woke up. He could already feel that the shackles of the good corpse that had been troubling him had been opened. He could advance to become a Two Corpses Severed Sage at any time.
Li Wanqing was lying next to him, but Li Wanqing’s appearance shocked him.
Li Wanqing’s red lips had turned pitch black, and a viscous, pitch-black light flowed in her eyes.
Most importantly, in Li Wanqing’s pupils, he saw that he looked the same.
Bai Ze stretched out a hand, and saw that his fingernails were pitch black, with pitch-black blood flowing inside.
Li Wanqing also looked at her own hand in surprise.
“Senior Martial Brother, Senior Martial Sister, you’re awake.”
At this time, Golden Turtle Old Mother suddenly appeared beside the two, bowing deeply to them.
Behind her were about a hundred disciples of Mount Putuo.
Bai Ze said, “Why are there only you left? Where is everyone else?”
The crowd looked at each other, each with an unspeakable secret.
However, Golden Turtle Old Mother still stepped forward and said, “Senior Martial Brother, don’t you remember?
You and Senior Martial Sister went on a killing spree, falling into madness, and killed for seven days and seven nights. The Tushita Heaven, from old to young, was completely wiped out.
You didn’t even spare the newborns.”
“Is that so?” Bai Ze and Li Wanqing said in unison.
They only remembered that they were taking revenge, avenging Mount Putuo, avenging their master and fellow disciples, but they didn’t remember how they went on a killing spree.
The Tushita Heaven people deserved to die, who told them to destroy my sect?
However, the Tushita Heaven is vast, with many ordinary people living in the Heavenly Realm, those who may not have participated in the destruction of Mount Putuo. Bai Ze didn’t intend to kill them all.
But how did he go mad and slaughter the entire Tushita Heaven?
“That’s how it is.” Golden Turtle Old Mother affirmed Bai Ze’s slaughter.
Boom… Bai Ze and Li Wanqing both fell into self-blame. If they were to achieve sainthood like this, how would they be any different from those demons who kill indiscriminately?
Bai Ze said, “I fell into madness, why didn’t you stop me?”
Golden Turtle Old Mother said, “We did try to stop you, but you were out of your mind at the time and didn’t recognize us at all.
Golden Roar and Old Yellow were even directly killed by you in front of us.”
“What?”
Bai Ze was shocked. He stood up from the ground with a ‘thump’ and grabbed Golden Turtle Old Mother’s collar, “You said I killed Junior Martial Brother Golden Roar and Old Yellow?”
There was a terrifying light in Bai Ze’s eyes, and the thought of killing flooded his heart again, which shocked him.
Bai Ze quickly used the Buddhist cultivation method to purify his heart, so that he wouldn’t lose his mind.
“How dare you speak to my Big Brother like that, I’ll kill you!”
Over there, Li Wanqing suddenly attacked, wanting to directly kill Golden Turtle Old Mother.
Li Wanqing’s temperament was also affected by severing the good corpse, becoming extremely bloodthirsty. She had not practiced Buddhist cultivation methods, so she could not regulate her heart.
When she saw someone being unfavorable to Bai Ze, no matter who it was, even if it was Bai Ze’s own mother, she would go and cut them down with her sword.
“Stop it!”
Bai Ze grabbed her wrist and pulled Li Wanqing into his arms.
“Kill!”
A terrifying murderous light flashed in Li Wanqing’s eyes, and she was about to slaughter everything in front of her. She kept struggling in Bai Ze’s arms.
“……”
Bai Ze began to chant a heart mantra taught by Guanyin Bodhisattva. The heart mantra was like a clear spring, constantly washing over Li Wanqing’s soul, and also washing over Bai Ze himself.
Gradually, the color of their lips returned to flesh color, the murderous light in their eyes disappeared, and the killing intent on their bodies gradually dissipated.
“Wuwuwu…”
Li Wanqing, who had regained consciousness, squatted on the ground, covering her face and weeping. She looked at her hands. Although they were as white as jade, they seemed to be soaked in blood, the blood of innocent people.
Bai Ze stood there for a long time, biting his teeth and enduring the pain in his heart.
He remembered a scene from when he was in a frenzy.
“Bai Ze, wake up, if this continues, you will fall into the demonic path.” This was Old Yellow’s persuasion, but he was cut down by Bai Ze with a sword.
◈◈◈
“Senior Martial Brother Bai Ze, you can’t do this, the revival of our sect still depends on you. You must control yourself.” This was Junior Martial Brother Golden Roar.
He was also cut down by Bai Ze with a sword.
“Ah-━”
Bai Ze couldn’t bear it any longer and cried out in pain to the sky. He had actually personally killed his brother Old Yellow, and his junior martial brother Golden Roar.
Even more than a hundred other junior martial brothers were accidentally killed by him.
If it weren’t for the remaining hundred or so junior martial brothers releasing lotuses at the critical moment to wrap themselves up, they would probably have been buried under Bai Ze’s sword as well.
At that critical moment, Bai Ze still maintained a shred of reason. Seeing that patch of lotuses, it touched a soft spot in his heart, which allowed everyone to escape this calamity.
“Old Yellow!”
Bai Ze was in so much pain that he wished he was dead. Old Yellow had been by his side since the beginning and had long become his best friend.
They didn’t die at the hands of the enemy, but at their own hands.
“How could this happen? How could this happen?” Bai Ze began to doubt his life. Could it be that all those who sever their good corpse would face such a thing?
Bai Ze and Li Wanqing both shed tears of sadness.
The remaining disciples of Mount Putuo all sighed and went to the side to deal with the aftermath.
Bai Ze and Li Wanqing were sad for a long time before they gradually calmed down.
Li Wanqing was tired from crying and was leaning on Bai Ze’s shoulder, falling into a daze.
Bai Ze brushed her hair aside and used his fingers to wipe away the tear stains on her cheeks.
Then, Bai Ze’s spirit came to the Hong Gou World. He came to see Ying Lao.
Ying Lao said, “I knew you would come.”
Bai Ze said anxiously, “Why? Why is this happening? Why did I kill so many people?”
Ying Lao said, “You should have known long ago that the good corpse and the evil corpse, as long as one is severed, one becomes a sage.
If two are severed, one becomes a Great Sage.
If you use good deeds to sever the evil corpse, you only need to accumulate merit. When enough merit is accumulated, the evil corpse will naturally be severed.
But conversely, if you want to sever the good corpse, you naturally have to use evil.
If there is not enough slaughter, how can you sever the good corpse and achieve sainthood?”
Bai Ze frowned and said, “But what is the principle behind severing the good and evil corpses to achieve sainthood?
If you say that severing the evil corpse and becoming a sage, I can understand that.
But why must the good corpse also be severed?
If you sever goodness as well, how is that different from demons and monsters?”
The previous madness made Bai Ze contemplate the true meaning of achieving sainthood. He was searching for the truth.
Ying Lao said, “Because goodness is also a form of evil.”
Bai Ze said, “You say goodness is also a form of evil?”
Ying Lao nodded, “That’s right. A person who constantly thinks, ‘I am a good person, I am doing good deeds,’ is not a truly good person.
If you ask a truly good person, he does good things every day but never thinks that he is doing good.
Everything he does every day is as ordinary and natural as eating, drinking, and dressing.
There is no goodness in his heart, and everything he does is natural.
Only those who have evil in their hearts have the concept of goodness. Good and evil are two sides of the same coin; if you have one, you have the other.
Therefore, demons cultivate evil methods, simply pursuing evil methods.
And a sage slaughters in order to sever the ‘goodness,’ this false idea of goodness.”
