Ch 12: I’m Back
After finishing the questioning, Gu Qingyin saved several ghosts, considering it as payment.
Pushing the door open, Gu Qingyin saw the Auntie carrying a meal tray into the room at the end of the corridor. She raised her eyebrows in puzzlement. Was someone still living in that room? Were they unable to come out? And required meals to be delivered.
Gu Qingyin went downstairs with her doubts.
Huo Xingye had taken off his suit jacket and was only wearing a white shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his forearms. He looked much more relaxed than when he was at the company. He was holding a tablet, probably still dealing with work.
“Who lives upstairs?” Gu Qingyin walked over and asked casually.
Huo Xingye’s eyes flickered slightly, but his tone was normal as he said, “A friend. They’re sick these past few days and can’t be exposed to the wind. I’ll introduce you later.”
No wonder the door was closed so tightly. Gu Qingyin didn’t ask any more questions and said with a smile, “Can we eat now?”
Huo Xingye got up and led her towards the dining room. “I’m eating very lightly tonight, don’t be disgusted.”
At one end of the rectangular dining table were four dishes and a soup, all vegetarian with no meat at all. It was indeed very light.
Huo Xingye and Gu Qingyin sat opposite each other, eating in silence.
After a while, the Auntie came down with the meal tray.
Gu Qingyin glanced at it. It contained porridge and side dishes, and it seemed barely touched. She casually said, “Your friend doesn’t have much of an appetite. Have they seen a doctor?”
Huo Xingye also glanced at the meal tray, his face expressionless. He lowered his eyes and said quietly, “They’ve seen a doctor. It’s not a serious illness, they’ll be fine in a few days.” He looked at the Auntie, “Take it away, you can leave.”
The Auntie smiled cautiously, tidied up in the kitchen, and then left.
After the mother and son finished eating, they cleared the table. The dishes and plates were put into the dishwasher, and there was nothing else to do.
“I’ll go back first, see you tomorrow.” Gu Qingyin stood at the door, waving goodbye to Huo Xingye with a smile.
Huo Xingye breathed a sigh of relief, but also asked in surprise, “You’re coming again tomorrow?”
The smile on Gu Qingyin’s face didn’t change, and she said in an unquestionable tone, “Once you develop a good habit of eating on time, I won’t go anymore.”
“I didn’t mean I don’t want you to come,” Huo Xingye explained, pursing his lips. “You can come whenever you want, I welcome you anytime.”
“Oh, I know, no need to explain.” Gu Qingyin patted him on the shoulder. “Go to bed early tonight, I’m leaving, no need to see me out.”
Huo Xingye stopped at the door, watching her enter the elevator. “Tell me when you get home.”
“Who is she? Your new target? Then when can you let me leave?”
A female voice mixed with icy fragments sounded from behind him, carrying obvious weakness. It sounded a bit creepy at first, but Huo Xingye seemed used to it. His eyes didn’t even flicker as he said quietly, “When you figure it out, I will naturally let you leave.”
Huo Xingye turned to look at the woman. Almond-shaped eyes, curved eyebrows, a pert nose, and full red lips. Her features were as delicate as a doll’s. No matter how many times he saw her, he couldn’t help but be amazed and moved.
“The one who can’t figure it out is you, not me!” The woman took a deep breath, her eyes full of disgust. “I’ve said it many times, I don’t like you! Now that you’re imprisoning me, it’s even more impossible for me to like you! Pervert!”
Huo Xingye’s expression didn’t change at all. “Remember to eat well tomorrow, don’t be capricious anymore. If you don’t eat, you won’t even have the strength to scold me.”
The woman was both angry and scared. “I really regret it! I shouldn’t have saved you back then!” Who would have thought that a kind deed in her youth would lead to her being targeted by a pervert for so many years.
“I’ll help you upstairs to rest.” Huo Xingye stepped forward and grabbed her arm.
The woman seemed to be electrocuted, shaking his hand away with force, gasping for breath as she shouted, “Let go! Don’t touch me! I’m disgusted!”
Huo Xingye turned a deaf ear, but he also didn’t have the patience to continue coaxing her. He bent down and directly carried the person up, striding upstairs.
The woman screamed, her hands constantly hitting Huo Xingye’s back, but she was already weak, and that little strength was not even as strong as a massage.
Huo Xingye threw the person onto the bed and left.
The woman’s face was covered in tears, and she said relentlessly, “You already like someone else, why don’t you let me go? Are you afraid that I will call the police after I leave? I swear I will never tell anyone about this, please… let me go home.”
Huo Xingye stopped at the door. “You misunderstood, I only like you. I still have work to do, be good, go to sleep early.”
The door closed, and it was locked from the outside.
The woman wiped away her tears in the darkness, silently shrinking into the quilt, thinking expressionlessly.
Huo Xingye’s attitude towards that woman today was unusual. Who exactly is that woman? Is it possible… to use her to help herself escape?
On the other side, before even getting home, Gu Qingyin received a call from Liu Ergou.
“The Taoist Master who went to Tiānfǔ Jǐnyuán last month was named Lin Wu, a young Taoist Master who suddenly appeared. It’s unknown who his master is. Moreover, this person hasn’t shown up since returning from Jǐnyuán. No one knows where he went.”
Gu Qingyin narrowed her eyes slightly. “If there are no accidents, the Gathering Yin Formation in Jǐnyuán is his handiwork.” She pondered, “If we destroy the Gathering Yin Formation, will Lin Wu show himself?”
Liu Ergou: “It’s hard to say, but we can try. The Gathering Yin Formation will be dismantled sooner or later anyway.”
That’s a residential area. If living people live in a place with a high concentration of Yin energy for a long time, their physical condition will get worse and worse.
“Then let’s dismantle it, let’s dismantle it tonight.” Gu Qingyin said commandingly in a negotiating tone, “You don’t have anything to do tonight, right? See you at the entrance of Jǐnyuán later.”
Liu Ergou: “Okay.”
It wasn’t until the phone hung up that he suddenly came back to his senses. He had clearly decided to let go of Gu Qingyin, so why did he run over to help as soon as she called?!
Liu Ergou, I look down on you!
After despising himself in his heart, Liu Ergou left the hotel, hailed a taxi on the street, and said firmly, “Master, go to Tiānfǔ Jǐnyuán!”
He was doing it for the sake of all living beings, not to help Gu Qingyin!
Gu Qingyin’s car also turned around and went back to Jǐnyuán. On the way, she remembered Huo Xingye getting angry last time, so she took the initiative to make a call.
Huo Xingye answered quickly, “What’s wrong?” This little time shouldn’t be enough to get to the Old House (Huo Family Estate).
“I’m back at Jǐnyuán again.” Gu Qingyin said seriously, “The Yin energy in Jǐnyuán is too heavy, and you live inside, I’m really worried, so I contacted my former Taoist Master friends, planning to deal with it tonight.”
“I’m just telling you, don’t be angry, okay?” Gu Qingyin’s voice carried a bit of coaxing. “If we deal with it sooner, I can feel at ease sooner.”
Huo Xingye heard her concern and worry. He didn’t object. After a moment of silence, he said, “I’ll go with you.”
Gu Qingyin certainly didn’t agree. Tonight’s actions were all to lure the snake out of its hole. What if Huo Xingye encountered danger by her side?
But before she could figure out how to refuse, Huo Xingye said again, “I’m wearing the Jade Amulet you gave me, so there shouldn’t be any danger, right? After all, you are such a powerful Taoist Master.”
Gu Qingyin couldn’t refute, and said through gritted teeth, “Okay! Don’t come out on your own, wait for me to pick you up!”
Huo Xingye laughed and replied obediently, “Okay.”
