Ch 16: A Clown
I slept late yesterday and woke up early this morning. Gu Qingyin sat in a chair, holding her phone and watching videos of her two sons, and felt sleepy after a while.
Huo Xingye saw her and advised her to go to the lounge to sleep for a while.
The lounge was connected to the office, with an area of more than a thousand square feet and fully equipped with everything.
Gu Qingyin dizzily plunged onto the king-size bed, and a faint tea fragrance wafted into her nose, which smelled very good. She closed her eyes and fell asleep after a while.
I don’t know how long it had passed when a “bang” sounded in her ear, and Gu Qingyin was awakened.
She subconsciously turned over and sat up, her heart pounding as she looked at the door.
In the backlight, two figures, one tall and one short, rushed in aggressively.
When they got closer, Gu Qingyin recognized one as Bai Jiali and the other as… Liu Ergou.
Gu Qingyin had just woken up and was still a little dazed. When did these two get to know each other? What did they want to do here?
Liu Ergou was also dazed after seeing the person in the room. Gu Qingyin was the one Bai Jiali said cast a curse on their president? What a joke!
The two stared at each other, and no one spoke for a while.
Only the uninformed Bai Jiali’s eyes were filled with jealous flames, and she shouted loudly, “Taoist Priest Liu! It’s her! She cast a curse on President Huo, quickly find a way to take away this fiend!”
Gu Qingyin was struck by her last sentence and became a little more awake, then showed an unbelievable expression, “You said I cast a curse on Huo Xingye? Where did you see that?”
Liu Ergou was shocked back to his senses. The president Bai Jiali was talking about was Huo Xingye?!
Bai Jiali’s eyes showed contempt, “If you didn’t cast a curse on President Huo, how could he be so gentle with you? How could he repeatedly make exceptions for you? You must have used disgusting methods to control him!”
Gu Qingyin didn’t want to talk anymore, looking at her as if she were looking at a madman. She was a normal person and didn’t need to argue with a madman.
She got up and got out of bed, walking towards the bathroom, “You solve the trouble you brought. Next time you take an order, at least investigate it. Too many times will affect your reputation.”
Liu Ergou blushed, and being set up by the client in his middle age, he explained very shamefully, “She said that she and the president had a deep relationship and were about to get married, but the president suddenly gave all his affection to someone else.”
“This didn’t sound right. How could someone change so quickly? I thought he must have been cursed.” Liu Ergou said aggrievedly, “Who knew she made it all up? This woman is too bad.”
Bai Jiali’s eyes widened in disbelief, “You know each other?!” Now she was even more convinced, and shouted angrily and happily, “I knew you weren’t an ordinary person! I will definitely save President Huo!”
Gu Qingyin had already entered the bathroom, but when she heard this, she poked her head out again and said sincerely, “Girl, I sincerely advise you to go to the neurology department for an examination. The sooner, the better, there’s still treatment.”
When she finished tidying up and came out full of energy, Bai Jiali and Liu Ergou were still standing there.
Gu Qingyin was a little annoyed, “Waiting for me to send you off?”
Liu Ergou said angrily, “She won’t give me the money!”
Gu Qingyin was really shocked now. Asking a Taoist Master and not paying the Affinity Fee? Purely courting death!
Bai Jiali said with perfect confidence, “You haven’t done anything and you still want money? Are you crazy for money! Unless you beat Gu Qingyin out!”
Liu Ergou suppressed his anger and tried to reason, “The rules of the Mystical Arts World are like this. Whether the matter is resolved or not, the Affinity Fee must be paid!”
Bai Jiali sneered disdainfully, “What broken rules? I think you and Gu Qingyin are obviously in cahoots, trying to swindle my money and control President Huo. I will definitely expose your true colors!”
Gu Qingyin sighed. Good advice is hard to persuade a ghost who is bound to die.
What Taoist Masters do is to defy fate, and the backlash they face will become heavier and heavier over time. Therefore, most of the Taoist Master’s Affinity Fee must be donated to accumulate Yin virtue for themselves.
If the Affinity Fee isn’t given, the Taoist Master can donate some money out of their own pocket, but the person who hired the Taoist Master will have bad luck! Lightly, they will lose money; severely, they will be on the verge of death, mainly depending on what they did before.
The most important thing is that after this, this person will be completely blacklisted by the Mystical Arts World. Anyone with real skills will not pay attention to him.
After all, no one would do something thankless, unless they were being cheap.
The ten million Gu Qingyin earned before, because the amount was large, it was not easy to donate all at once. She entrusted Xue Ning to donate in batches, and it should be almost done. She only kept one-tenth.
“What’s all the noise about?” Huo Xingye stood at the door of the lounge, his voice deep and cold, “Who allowed you to enter my lounge?”
Everyone in the company knew that Huo Xingye’s lounge was a forbidden area, and usually only the cleaning lady could enter at fixed times.
Bai Jiali naturally knew this, so when she learned that Gu Qingyin was sleeping in the lounge, she kicked the door open as if she had gone mad. Now that she saw Huo Xingye, she acted as if she had found a backer, and began to complain with red eyes.
“President Huo! Gu Qingyin sneaked into the lounge while you were at a meeting. I don’t know what she was hiding. I rushed in with the Taoist Priest in a moment of desperation.” Bai Jiali’s eyes were filled with sincere worry, “President Huo, you… you should be careful.”
“Careful about what?” Huo Xingye asked coldly.
Because of the backlight, Bai Jiali couldn’t see Huo Xingye’s expression, but she knew he was angry from his tone. She was overjoyed and quickly said, “President Huo, I suspect Gu Qingyin cast a curse on you. I originally asked Taoist Priest Liu to come and help, but who knew the two of them were in cahoots!”
“President Huo, don’t worry, I will definitely find a more powerful Taoist Master than them!”
Gu Qingyin curled her lips. What wishful thinking. Don’t even mention powerful ones, even newly-entered Taoist Master apprentices wouldn’t want to deal with you.
Huo Xingye was silent for two seconds, then slowly walked into the lounge, looking at Bai Jiali with indifferent eyes, and said in a deep voice, “Secretary Bai has resigned due to her inability to complete her work tasks excellently, resulting in excessive psychological pressure.”
Bai Jiali’s face was full of disbelief, “President Huo?”
“Yes, Family Head.”
Only then did Bai Jiali see Xue Ning, who was covered in dust, standing at the door.
Xue Ning smiled politely, but was cheering in his heart. It was worth it for him to work overtime overnight and book a flight back early in the morning. This big show was really good!
“Send Miss Bai away.”
Huo Xingye walked past Bai Jiali and went to Gu Qingyin, asking with concern, “Did they wake you up? Were you frightened?”
His voice was more than a degree gentler. Bai Jiali couldn’t accept it, and suddenly turned around and cried out, “President Huo, you must believe me! I’m doing it all for your own good. Gu Qingyin definitely has no good intentions! She will harm you!”
Gu Qingyin rolled her eyes.
Huo Xingye glanced at her again because of this, then sneered coldly, “Absurd.”
Bai Jiali wanted to say something, but was grabbed by the mouth by the security guards who had rushed over and dragged away.
“This matter started because of Huo Xingye, you can ask him for your Affinity Fee.” Gu Qingyin looked at the aggrieved Liu Ergou and reminded him with a smile, “Don’t feel guilty, my son has money.”
Liu Ergou hesitated and glanced at Huo Xingye, then gritted his teeth and said, “Forget it, how can I take money from the younger generation? Anyway, this order wasn’t worth much.”
Unexpectedly, Huo Xingye insisted on paying. He thought to himself, he couldn’t owe anyone, especially not Liu Ergou. He absolutely couldn’t give him a chance to pester Gu Qingyin!
