Ch 317: Just Temporary
Qin Yuexi was startled by the beaming smile of the manager as soon as she entered the store, and her eyes immediately filled with surprise.
She was a regular customer of this store, and the store manager was a familiar face. Before, he always greeted people with a polite and courteous smile, but this was the first time she had seen such an enthusiastic, almost fawning expression on his face.
The store manager slightly bent over and extended his hand to guide her, “President Huo is upstairs, I’ll take you up.”
Qin Yuexi nodded with a smile, “Thank you for your trouble.”
“It’s my honor to serve you both.” The store manager squinted with a smile, “I haven’t seen Miss Qin for a long time, have you been busy lately?”
Qin Yuexi said perfunctorily, “It’s okay, there are a few more things at work.”
The store manager was also a shrewd person, and immediately changed the subject, talking about the dishes of the day in the store. Before a few words were spoken, the two arrived upstairs.
“Please come in.” The store manager opened the door, and Qin Yuexi walked in.
Inside the private room, Huo Xingye was standing by the window making a phone call. Hearing the movement, he turned his head to look over, signaling Qin Yuexi to sit down first.
The store manager asked in a low voice, “Then I’ll inform the kitchen to arrange the dishes?”
Qin Yuexi also lowered her voice a little, “Go ahead.”
The store manager nodded with a smile, closed the door, and left.
Huo Xingye also finished his phone call, and hung up the phone as he walked over, asking, “Do you get off work this late every day?”
Qin Yuexi shook her head, “No, today’s situation is special. I don’t usually work overtime.”
Huo Xingye pulled out a chair for her, “Eat on time, stomach problems are very uncomfortable.”
Qin Yuexi blinked and asked after sitting down, “Is your stomach not good?”
Huo Xingye gave an “Mm” sound and sat down opposite her, “I had some minor problems before, but my mom kept an eye on me, and it’s almost healed.”
Qin Yuexi nodded, and then didn’t know what to say. The feeling of restraint came inexplicably.
“How is your father doing lately?” Huo Xingye mentioned a new topic with a calm expression, like casual greetings between friends who weren’t very familiar.
“Still the same, I don’t know when he’ll wake up.” Qin Yuexi’s eyes showed a hint of worry. Her dad was proud all his life, and if he became a vegetable, she didn’t dare to think about how uncomfortable he would feel.
“In a couple of days, Williams, a brain expert from Country A, will come to Yuncity to attend a forum. I’ll have him go over and take a look then.”
Huo Xingye’s tone was relaxed, but internationally renowned experts were not so easy to make an appointment with.
Qin Yuexi shook her head, “I’ve inquired, Williams’ schedule is very full, and he doesn’t have time for consultations at all. It’s still just an ordinary cerebral hemorrhage.”
Huo Xingye chuckled, “I’ll make the appointment, you just remember to communicate with the hospital.”
Qin Yuexi pursed her lips and looked at him steadily for a while, “Thank you.”
Huo Xingye hooked his lips at her.
Qin Yuexi’s heart was pounding. How could someone who usually looked so indifferent be so captivating when he smiled? It was deadly!
The door of the private room was knocked, startling her to hurriedly look away. She belatedly realized that her cheeks were burning hot, and she tried her best to control herself from reaching out to cover her face, maintaining a calm expression. But Huo Xingye’s “Come in” with a smile instantly broke her composure.
Qin Yuexi’s face turned even redder.
The chef wearing a tall hat pushed the dining car in, introducing today’s dishes one by one. The main course was blue lobster, and then various parts of Wagyu beef, in short, each had its own merits.
Qin Yuexi’s mind was not on this at all, and she didn’t remember anything after listening.
Huo Xingye was the same way, he was only focused on admiring the beauty with the rosy complexion opposite him.
The chef’s eyebrows twitched, and he imperceptibly let out a breath, and smiled again, “All the dishes are very fresh and do not require heavy seasoning, in order to ensure the original flavor of the ingredients. If you prefer a stronger taste, you can dip it in a little sea salt.”
The chef took a step back and bowed slightly, “I wish you both a pleasant meal.”
Qin Yuexi almost reflexively smiled, “Thank you for your hard work.”
Huo Xingye also nodded politely.
The chef smiled, pushed the empty dining car out, and closed the door. He breathed a long sigh of relief and thought expressionlessly, if the boss didn’t pay enough… Humph!
“Let’s eat first.” Huo Xingye picked up the serving chopsticks and gentlemanly disassembled a piece of lobster for Qin Yuexi.
The heat on Qin Yuexi’s face hadn’t completely subsided, and at this time she didn’t dare to look Huo Xingye in the eyes, only slightly lowered her eyes and thanked him reservedly.
During the meal, neither of them spoke much, but the atmosphere didn’t seem awkward, but rather revealed a bit of casual intimacy.
“How do you feel?” Huo Xingye suddenly asked as they exited the store.
Qin Yuexi looked at him, puzzled.
“The feeling of being with me, shouldn’t be unpleasant, right?” Huo Xingye hooked his lips, “You shouldn’t blush at someone you hate.”
Qin Yuexi’s face flushed red again, but she still stubbornly met his gaze, “The outside world probably has some misunderstandings about you, what with the elegant and handsome young master. Your nature is really a bit bad.”
Huo Xingye remained noncommittal, raising his eyebrows and saying, “I don’t easily show this side of me, Miss Qin should seize the opportunity.”
Qin Yuexi rolled her eyes, “Who cares.” She strode towards the parking lot, but the corners of her lips that were hard to suppress and the feeling of joy in her heart were all clamoring that she cared.
Walking to the car, she realized that she hadn’t said goodbye to Huo Xingye yet. She hesitated whether to turn around when she heard clear footsteps behind her.
“Please trouble Miss Qin to take me home, Xue Ning drove the car away.” Huo Xingye stood behind her, “You should still remember my home address, right?”
Qin Yuexi’s mind uncontrollably flashed the scene of her “acting shamelessly” after getting drunk. She pursed her lips, “I remember, get in the car.”
Huo Xingye chuckled, “Thank you, Miss Qin.”
Qin Yuexi frowned, and only said after getting in the car, “Just call me by my name, my friends all call me Yuexi or Yuรจyuรจ.”
“Okay.” Huo Xingye called out smoothly: “Yuรจyuรจ.”
Qin Yuexi suddenly felt a heat in her ears, and half of her body felt like it was being electrocuted, both numb and tingly. Before this, she didn’t think her nickname was so nice, or that it had such a great lethality. How could it be different when it came out of Huo Xingye’s mouth?
“Is it okay for me to call you that?” Huo Xingye asked pretentiously.
Qin Yuexi slowed down, muttering as she started the car, “You only thought of asking after you already called me.”
Huo Xingye chuckled, “If you don’t like it, I can change the address, how about Xฤซxฤซ?”
“Yuรจyuรจ is fine!” Qin Yuexi quickly stopped him with a flushed face. They were just friends, why call her so intimately?
The car was on the road, and Huo Xingye didn’t dare to flirt anymore, quietly using his phone to handle work.
But the more Qin Yuexi thought about it, the more unwilling she became. When the car drove to the downstairs of Huo Xingye’s house, she reminded him with a fake smile, “Although we are friends now, President Huo should still pay attention to the boundaries and not say or do things that are misleading.”
Huo Xingye tilted his head to look at her, “Just call me Xingye.”
Qin Yuexi had a sense of powerlessness like punching cotton, “…Okay.”
Huo Xingye smiled, opened the door and got out of the car, waved to her, “Good night, may you dream of me.”
