Chapter 70: Character Introduction Part 2
【Aius Empire & Hour of Ruin】
★ Nina Valer
A young lady of German descent who governs the Zephyrus Domain within the Aius Empire. Her lustrous dark brown hair shines against her red-themed dress. During her transition to the parallel world, she was trapped in a dimensional gap where time had stopped, and subjectively spent about 260,000 hours while her youthful body remained unchanged.
During that time, she continued to observe different Earths across space and time, gaining knowledge such as the “Mechanical Magi” devised by the elves to combat the “Hour of Ruin.”
Although she has a calculating nature and is referred to as the “female fox” both inside and outside the empire… she has a strong sense of camaraderie with fellow Rare Humans, accepting them into the foreign quarter of the central city regardless of their original nationality on Earth.
★ Jax Albert
An American technician of immigrant descent who was dispatched to the Lizel Knight Kingdom. He was taken in by Nina Valer while he was in a state of confusion after arriving in the parallel world. As he left his wife and children behind on the original Earth, he agrees with Nina’s idea of searching for a way to return for the sake of his fellow Rare Humans.
Currently, he is devoting himself to the manufacturing and deployment of giant knights in the Lizel Knight Kingdom, but he regularly sends secret letters to Nina Valer, indicating that his personal loyalty lies with the Zephyrus Domain.
★ Aynst Remberg ‘Giant Knight: Begalta L-type’
The Knight Captain of the Aius Empire’s Zephyrus Domain. He is a survivor of the territorial army that was dispatched to Guiltya Island with the previous lord. Amidst the desperate war situation, he witnessed the earliest giant knight, Javelin, which became the only ray of hope, and has since become a devotee of Nina Valer.
Although he was merely a cavalry company commander at the time, he was promoted to Knight Captain due to his exceptional aptitude for piloting giant knights and his deep understanding of technology transfer. He is quite pragmatic, and if he deems it best, he can make cold-blooded decisions with a nonchalant attitude.
★ Radglyph Eisen ‘Giant Knight: Clawsolas K-type Modified’
The Count who governs the Fosses Territory, which must be passed through when traveling from the Lizel Knight Kingdom to the Aius Empire’s Zephyrus Domain. He is a well-built, veteran warrior, and has a good relationship with Xenos Danberk, the Knight Commander of Lizel. Incidentally, Lidy Valencia, the second daughter of a local noble whom he invited to his mansion as an attendant, also serves as his mistress.
He maintains a neutral stance, distancing himself from the Imperial Faction nobles who manipulate the young Emperor for their own benefit, as well as the three western lords who receive generous support from Nina Valer and are devoted to her due to their proximity to the “Hour of Ruin” controlled territory.
★ Heisel Ballenstein
The Marquis of the Imperial Faction who governs the Rigsia Territory within the Aius Empire. He is a rigid aristocrat who places great importance on lineage and origin. Due to his personality, he cannot tolerate the fact that Nina Valer, a Rare Human of humble origin, holds power within the empire.
He suspects that the reinforcements Nina sent to the three western territories to hold back the Aberrations, along with the giant knights she possesses, might eventually be turned against the Imperial Faction or the empire itself. He plotted to reduce her forces and assassinate her, launching a night attack on the central city of Winzard with a newly built, top-secret giant knight that he had kept hidden.
★ Leonardo Berschdorf ‘Giant Knight: Nightshade Rasetsu’
A young officer and knight of the Aius Empire’s Rigsia Territory who led the assault operation on the central city governed by Nina Valer. Due to his earnest personality, he often struggles with the reality that cannot be resolved solely by his belief in chivalry and idealism. He is sometimes reprimanded by the mage girl, Elnea, with “Leo, don’t overthink it.”
He set fire to the forest area within the Zephyrus Domain as a diversion and attacked the central city… However, due to misfortunes such as the Lizel Knight King’s coincidental presence, he failed the mission.
★ Fau Zaumel
An alluring young lady who somehow gained the favor of Marquis Rigsia and rose to the position of development supervisor for giant knights within the territory. She frequents the giant knight workshop in her usual dress, and her pale skin and silver hair make her popular among the opposite sex.
She claims to be from the three western territories of the Aius Empire, but there is no concrete evidence… The source of her vast knowledge about giant knights is also unknown. It was she who modified Leonardo’s giant knight into a four-armed version after his failed mission and return.
★ Gaius Dihald ‘Giant Knight: “Mechanical Magi” Algol’
One of the higher-ranking species commanding the Aberrations, an undead knight who continues to live even after death. He was absorbed into the “Hour of Ruin” when his own race was defeated and is bound by the Pact of the Joints. However, regardless of that, he seems to be a warrior by nature, finding joy in life through battle.
He usually uses the central city of Lyon in the Rhone-Alpes Region of the former Francia Kingdom, which he destroyed, as his base. He attempted to build a Spirit Gate in the Great Forest of the Lizel Knight Kingdom as part of an infiltration plan, but it was discovered early and failed. In retaliation, he assassinated King Strauss.
★ Kreis Lidill ‘Giant Knight: “Mechanical Doll” Revenant’
An undead mage who serves the skeletal knight Gaius Dihald. He usually appears as a misty spirit wearing a cloak, floating gently at low altitude. He seems to have some knowledge of alchemy, as he skillfully repaired his master’s armor that had been torn by the Knight King’s blade, though his skills are not on par with those of the White Elves.
His giant knight is the “Mechanical Doll” Revenant, which can float at low altitude. He is a troublesome opponent who emerges from the shadows of the Aberrations and scatters magic bullets from a safe distance.
