Ch 130: Flame Skeleton
Lu Fan waved his hand and ordered:
“Team One, commence the plan.”
“Yes, sir.”
The surrounding Awakeners immediately sprang into action, tightly encircling the area, and vigilantly guarding their surroundings.
“Li Yu, this depends on you.”
Lu Fan spoke with a serious expression, earnestly hoping Li Yu would take his words to heart.
Li Yu nodded, then climbed onto a nearby erected scaffolding with Fu Xiyao.
“It’s quite sturdy.”
Li Yu swayed from side to side before squatting on the topmost layer of the scaffolding.
Seeing Li Yu reach the designated position, Lu Fan finally felt relieved, turned, and left to directly enter Yan City and draw the target’s attention.
Everything was ready, only the final crucial step remained.
Lu Fan silently hoped in his heart that this plan would succeed.
Li Yu, on the high platform, took out the crossbow.
Suddenly, the black eye reopened on the crossbow, and the surrounding energy instantly experienced violent fluctuations.
Realizing it was still on the crossbow, the eye began to spin wildly, seemingly continuously activating its ability.
However, it was firmly embedded in the crossbow, unable to break free, nor could it use its own ability to affect Li Yu, who was using the crossbow.
Li Yu looked at the eye on the crossbow. It was ugly, but at least the curse didn’t work.
Without paying any attention to the eye frantically spinning on the crossbow, Li Yu held the crossbow, nocked an armor-piercing arrow, and slowly aimed towards the direction of Yan City.
“What is this…” Fu Xiyao watched the wildly spinning eye, feeling somewhat afraid.
Except for the difference in size, this eye on the crossbow was exactly the same as the enormous eye that had previously created illusions.
“Don’t be afraid, it’s just a decoration.”
Li Yu reassured her, then threatened the eye on the crossbow:
“Look again, and I’ll poke you blind.”
The eye shook even more violently.
Seeing that the eye truly couldn’t move, Fu Xiyao finally relaxed slightly, clinging tightly to Li Yu’s side, ready to assist him with aiming at any moment.
Below, Lu Fan’s figure quickly disappeared into the heavy rain.
Li Yu looked up and could vaguely see the outline of Yan City, including several tall buildings.
Lu Fan’s speed increased, and by the time he reached Yan City, the guards at the gate hadn’t even seen clearly before he had passed through Yan City’s checkpoint and successfully charged inside.
Upon entering Yan City, Lu Fan immediately sensed the unique aura from his bloodline through his psionic ability.
He couldn’t be wrong. Though the aura was faint, his father, Lu Yun, was indeed still alive.
Almost simultaneously, Lu Fan’s intrusion was discovered by Yan City’s Super Esper.
A red flame soared from a tall building, streaking across the sky above Yan City, and descended in front of Lu Fan with incredible speed.
“Whoa!”
A man engulfed in flames appeared before Lu Fan. He was Yan City’s Super Esper—Jiang Lie.
Jiang Lie raised his hand, flames continuously igniting between his fingers as he pointed at Lu Fan and questioned:
“Intruding into Yan City, what is your purpose?”
Jiang Lie’s voice was as scorching as his flames, filled with oppressive pressure.
As he spoke, the flames behind Jiang Lie had already taken shape, a fierce, powerful tiger appearing behind him, instantly evaporating the rainwater falling from above.
Lu Fan remained silent; he knew any words could expose his true identity.
Moreover, he was deliberately stalling for time, waiting for Li Yu’s assisting attack.
Lu Fan raised a hand, signaling Jiang Lie not to be too tense.
Then, a burst of flame energy slowly erupted from Lu Fan’s body.
“You are also a Fire Awakener?”
Jiang Lie sensed a familiar fiery aura from Lu Fan’s psionic ability.
“Phew.”
A flame flickered from Lu Fan’s finger. Compared to Jiang Lie’s surging flames, his flame was like a candle, lacking any killing power.
“This little spark is almost the same as the Fire Fox’s.”
Jiang Lie burst into laughter, openly mocking:
“Hahaha, you wouldn’t be the Fire Fox reincarnated, would you?”
Jiang Lie’s attitude was unceremonious towards someone who had sneaked into Yan City:
“No matter how you snuck into the city, surrender now, and I might spare your life.”
Jiang Lie was very confident, believing Lu Fan was trapped and had no escape.
Lu Fan extended his hand again, indicating he carried no weapon.
Then Lu Fan yawned, feigning sleepiness, but inwardly urging Li Yu to hurry, as he had noticed many Yan City Awakeners rapidly approaching to provide support.
On the high platform outside Yan City, Li Yu held the crossbow and softly asked:
“Can you sense it?”
“Yes.” Fu Xiyao fully activated her psionic ability, carefully sensing the rainwater in front of Yan City.
Under the cleansing rain, everything in Yan City seemed clearly visible.
This included a figure like a flame; the rainwater hadn’t even fallen before it was evaporated by the high temperature of this person.
Jiang Lie was completely surrounded by water vapor, making him especially conspicuous.
Fu Xiyao gently adjusted the direction of the crossbow in Li Yu’s hand, slowly aiming at Jiang Lie.
The aiming circle in Li Yu’s eyes rapidly shrank, locking onto the target.
The eye on the crossbow was also forced to look at the person who had been targeted. Li Yu confirmed with Fu Xiyao again:
“This is the right person, right?”
After all, Lu Fan had repeatedly instructed him to absolutely not shoot the wrong person.
Fu Xiyao carefully sensed again and stated with certainty:
“Yes, that person is opposite Lu Fan.”
With Fu Xiyao’s confirmation, Li Yu confidently pulled the trigger.
“Whoosh!”
One arrow flew out, piercing the rain, and shot towards the northwest direction of Yan City.
Inside Yan City.
Lu Fan suddenly stopped pretending and chuckled softly.
“Heh.”
“What are you laughing at?” Jiang Lie questioned across from him.
“I’m laughing that you’re already dead,” Lu Fan said with a cold smile.
The armor-piercing arrow came as swiftly as lightning.
An intense sense of danger surged into Jiang Lie’s heart.
“Someone’s ambushing me!”
His nerves were taut to the extreme, his inner energy erupting like a volcanic eruption.
“Yan God descends!”
Jiang Lie roared, scorching flames shooting skyward.
Everything on his body was replaced by raging flames; his entire person instantly transformed into a flame, like a burning skeleton.
Each breath of Jiang Lie exhaled tongues of fire, surrounded by scorching wind pressure. He said disdainfully to Lu Fan:
“So it’s two Super Espers. No wonder you dare to challenge Yan City.”
Jiang Lie wasn’t afraid of the impending crisis.
Let alone a mere sniper rifle, even a powerful missile wouldn’t be able to kill him.
He didn’t believe it was the speed of an arrow.
Before the danger reached him, Jiang Lie had completed his transformation.
In his Yan God state, reborn in flames, he was immortal!
“Whoosh!”
Almost the same instant he heard the piercing sound, Jiang Lie’s eyes blurred.
A tall figure suddenly appeared in front of him, his back looking remarkably familiar.
“Older Brother? You’re not dead?”
“No, it’s an illusion!”
However, Jiang Lie, having regained his senses, was too late to dodge.
“Thwack!”
One arrow pierced straight through his head.
The flaming skull instantly exploded.
