Ch 41: Most Importantly, I Believe In You
Xiao Yao stopped, turning completely to face him. This Greasy Hair Student seemed to have had quite a bit to drink; the alcohol flushed his face, making it as red as a cooked tomato.
Xiao Yao didn’t even know his name. With a polite smile, she asked, “Is there something you need?”
“It’s already eleven o’clock. It’s too late. It’s not safe for a girl to go home alone…” The Greasy Hair Student tugged at his necktie, took a breath, as if mustering his courage, and said, “May I walk you home?”
Xiao Yao smiled faintly. “No need, I’ll drive myself…” Before she finished, she suddenly remembered she’d been drinking and couldn’t drive, so she changed her words: “I’ll just hail a cab.”
“It’s fine. I’m leaving too. I’ve already called a car. I’ll drop you off first, then myself. It’s convenient.”
“Really, no need…” Xiao Yao felt a little awkward. “I’ll go ahead.”
She exited the Hotel’s main entrance. Just as she stepped down the steps, the Greasy Hair Student caught up with her again. “Xiao Yao, I really mean no harm. I’m just worried about your safety. How about you take the car I called, and I’ll just take a taxi?”
Xiao Yao sighed, feeling that if she didn’t agree, he could pester her all night.
Suddenly, she glimpsed a black Bentley parked at the front entrance of the hotel. Leaning against the car door was a tall, strong, familiar figure, a cigarette held loosely in one hand, looking at her with a warm smile.
Xiao Yao was somewhat surprised. He hadn’t even said hello, how did he get here?
Then, sweet delight quietly crept into her heart. She couldn’t help but raise the corners of her lips, revealing a radiant smile. Turning to the Greasy Hair Student, she apologetically said, “Thank you, but really no need. My husband is here to pick me up.”
Upon hearing the word “husband,” the Greasy Hair Student’s complexion changed. Xiao Yao, like a butterfly, darted down the steps in three or two strides, and threw herself into a man’s embrace.
The man was tall, handsome, and impeccably dressed, driving a luxury car—a height unattainable for an ordinary man like the Greasy Hair Student. The handsome man and beautiful woman standing together were a perfect match.
The Greasy Hair Student immediately felt ashamed and dejected, turning back to the hotel.
“Let’s go.” Zhuang Lingyun held his wife’s slender waist, raising an eyebrow with a smile. “Little vixen, you’re attracting bees and butterflies all day long. Just wait until we get home.”
He lowered his head and sniffed her neck. “How much did you drink?”
Xiao Yao pushed his head away. “Why aren’t you worried? Seeing that I have so many suitors, you can remain so calm?”
“They’re not as handsome as me, nor as gentle and loving as I am.” He lightly bit her lips, tasting the wine on her breath. He pulled back slightly, looking into her eyes. “Most importantly, I trust you.”
He was constantly teasing her. Xiao Yao cupped his handsome face, initiating a kiss, lightly pecking his lips, and said with a light laugh, “When did you arrive?”
“I came right after work.” Zhuang Lingyun deepened the kiss, reluctantly letting go. “Let’s go home.”
Zhuang Lingyun helped her into the passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, before returning to the driver’s seat to drive. The Audi Xiao Yao had driven earlier was driven back by a designated driver.
Back home, Xiao Yao had just closed the door, the lights not yet on, when he embraced her waist and pressed her against the door. Heavy, heated breath fell on her neck, his hands not being idle, touching her all over.
Xiao Yao half-heartedly resisted, and the two of them tumbled around in bed for half the night.
Afterward, Xiao Yao quickly showered, returned to bed, and fell asleep.
Although this aspect was enjoyable, Zhuang Lingyun was always insatiable and unrestrained. Every time, Xiao Yao was exhausted and drowsy.
After Zhuang Lingyun showered, he saw his wife asleep again. A doting smile appeared on his face; he climbed onto the bed, lifted the covers, and snuggled into the warmth. He drew her close, letting her rest her head on his arm, sleeping in his embrace.
The bedside lamp emitted a dim, yellowish light. Both in the bedroom were fast asleep.
Xiao Yao had a dream.
In the dream, she straddled a man’s lap, her arms around his neck, kissing his ear.
The man’s face was unclear. Suddenly, he lifted her up and pressed her onto a snow-white bed. They rolled around, naked, engaging in passionate lovemaking; the scene was extremely stimulating.
Xiao Yao woke up with a start. Seeing Zhuang Lingyun so close, she felt a little guilty.
Having just been satisfied, she had another erotic dream, but the man in the dream wasn’t him… Xiao Yao couldn’t accept this dream. Why was this happening? She had never had any improper thoughts, nor any sensual feelings for any man other than him. Why would she have such a shameful dream?
Xiao Yao thought of Luo Li’s boyfriend, and she couldn’t sleep. She tried to sit up, but Zhuang Lingyun pulled her back, instinctively holding her close.
Xiao Yao looked at his face. He’d been very busy lately, having lost weight, making his features sharper. A layer of stubble had sprouted on his chin. She unconsciously caressed it with her fingertips.
Was there such a person? Why couldn’t she remember?
What had happened between her and that person?
Could the man in the dream… be that person?
Many questions swirled in her mind. Looking at the man before her, Xiao Yao felt guilty. Lying in his arms thinking of another man felt wrong.
Forget it. Don’t think about it.
Xiao Yao turned over, her back to him, her naked back pressed tightly against his strong, firm chest. Closing her eyes, she quickly fell back asleep.
On the last day of the May Day holiday, the bar was as busy as ever.
At eight o’clock, Xiao Yao was still sitting in the corner behind the bar, wearing headphones, completely unaffected by the deafening music, engrossed in her eight o’clock prime-time sweet idol drama.
Manager Zhang suddenly patted her shoulder. Xiao Yao took off her headphones and looked over. “What is it?”
“Boss, two ladies are here to see you.”
Xiao Yao stood up and saw Zhao Fangyuan and Luo Li. Dressed in hot, sexy nightclub attire, with flamboyant makeup on their faces, they stood shoulder to shoulder, winking at her and waving slightly.
Xiao Yao’s heart leaped with joy, and she immediately dropped her phone and ran out.
At their last gathering, Xiao Yao had mentioned the bar she now managed. She hadn’t given them the address, and they hadn’t asked, yet they had found her.
Luo Li hugged Xiao Yao, pressing her cheek against hers affectionately, answering her question, “We saw your Moments post. It just so happens that we’ve been to this bar more than once. What a coincidence! Why didn’t we meet before?”
Fate is truly amazing.
Xiao Yao led the two to a VIP booth and ordered the server to bring drinks, fruit, and various nuts and snacks.
“I’m treating tonight. Let’s drink until we drop!”
Zhao Fangyuan raised her bottle majestically, clinking it against Xiao Yao’s. She teased, “Did you think we came here for something else? Of course, we’re here to take advantage of you! Serve us well, and next time, sister will ask for you again!”
Xiao Yao was happy. She actually had very few friends, almost none who were close.
This might also have to do with her personality. In today’s society, people live with masks, it’s all so fake. It’s very difficult to find true friendship.
She dislikes hypocrisy. Since she can’t be truly sincere to others, she doesn’t expect others to be wholeheartedly sincere to her.
Therefore, she has no friends.
