Chapter 25: Entry
Meditation Technique,
Entry!
Within the turbulent Sea of Consciousness, teeming with distracting thoughts, Karl’s awareness was like a small boat, bobbing up and down amidst the waves.
Although it appeared as if it could capsize at any moment, it fought relentlessly against the surging tide with unwavering willpower.
As time passed, not only did it not capsize, but it became increasingly stable.
“Whew…”
Opening his eyes, Karl’s gaze flickered with a faint light.
The world before him seemed to have a veil lifted, and everything he saw was unprecedentedly clear.
This was not because his vision had improved, but because the refinement of his mental power had made his perception of the outside world more acute.
“Finally…”
Karl clenched his fists slightly:
“I can practice the Meditation Technique in the real world now.”
Entering the Meditation Technique and constructing a zero-circle spell model within the Sea of Consciousness is the mark of a Junior Wizard Apprentice.
And Karl had already achieved both of these.
In other words,
in less than a month, he had already become a true Junior Wizard Apprentice.
Even a First-Level Talent might not be this fast.
No!
A First-Level Talent probably wouldn’t be this fast either.
“Stay low-key, stay low-key.”
“A tree that stands out in the forest will be felled by the wind; a mound that rises above the shore will be eroded by the current; one who acts superior to others will be criticized by the masses. Remember the lessons of the past.”
Taking several deep breaths, the excitement on Karl’s face gradually subsided.
“According to the ranking system of Wizard Apprentices, learning one zero-circle spell makes one a Junior Wizard Apprentice.”
“Learning three zero-circle spells makes one an Intermediate Wizard Apprentice.”
“Learning six zero-circle spells makes one a Senior Wizard Apprentice.”
“And only by mastering a first-circle spell and breaking through the limits of mental power can one truly be considered a wizard.”
Of course,
cantrips are not included.
Taking out his notebook, Karl held a quill pen and jotted down notes.
Constitution: 0.77
Mental Power: 0.96
The data provided by the Divine Domain Fragment wouldn’t be wrong. As a Knight Squire, his Constitution was 0.77, so by this standard, the Constitution of an ordinary person should be around 0.5.
And for knights,
it would most likely exceed 1.
Although the difference in Constitution was only a few tenths, it seemed small, but the actual experience was a world of difference.
It was by no means as simple as one plus one equals two.
Karl’s Mental Power was significantly higher than his Constitution. Sybil had mentioned this before, and the reason might be his transmigration.
When his predecessor was on the verge of death, his consciousness merged with Karl’s transmigrated consciousness. With the two combined, it was normal for his Mental Power to be greater than that of an ordinary person.
Therefore, as long as he entered the Meditation Technique and refined his Mental Power, he would naturally possess the foundation of a Junior Wizard Apprentice.
“Constructing the Minor Force Field model consumes 0.7 Mental Power. By this logic, three zero-circle spells would require at least 2.1 Mental Power. This means that the standard for an Intermediate Wizard Apprentice is 2.1 Mental Power.”
“No!”
Karl shook his head slightly:
“The Minor Force Field is a relatively complex spell among the zero-circle spells, and it consumes more Mental Power.”
“The Dizzy spell might only require 0.5 or 0.6. Based on the lowest standard, 1.8 Mental Power should be enough to advance to Intermediate Wizard Apprentice.”
Once a spell model is constructed, it stably occupies a portion of Mental Power. This means that to construct a second spell model, one must have surplus Mental Power, unless they erase the first spell model.
Similarly,
although Wizard Apprentices possess extraordinary abilities, they only master a few spells. Once all of them are known, it becomes easy to counter them specifically.
Therefore, every wizard would try their best to conceal the spells they have mastered or have other hidden trump cards.
If all their cards are revealed…
It’s no different from seeking death!
“Let’s see if the spell’s power has changed.”
Putting down his pen, Karl focused his mind and activated the Minor Force Field model within his Sea of Consciousness.
An invisible force field emerged.
Unlike before, after entering the Meditation Technique, his control over the Minor Force Field became more refined.
He could now expand and contract the range of the same force, and of course, its power would change accordingly.
“Whoosh!”
Karl tossed an iron ball from his hand. It fell from above into the range of the force field. Under the influence of the invisible force field, it traced an arc and landed on the ground.
“The power hasn’t increased much, but the control is more refined, and it can be released suddenly, enough to distort an attack at the Knight Squire level.”
“And its duration has increased significantly compared to before.”
After a series of tests, Karl’s face showed satisfaction.
“Not bad!”
“Now, with the Force Field protecting me, as long as I don’t encounter a Peak Knight Squire like Dana, I have a good chance of winning.”
“Hmm.”
“And the Light spell!”
The Light spell seemed useless, but if it was cast suddenly during a fight, it might be able to temporarily blind the opponent.
At that time,
it would be very useful.

The next day, Karl returned the remaining Soul Powder to the manor and took two lessons on Pharmacology on credit.
Several days later.
Bedroom.
Karl opened his eyes with a grim expression.
“A Fourth-Level Talent, and my Mental Power is increasing this slowly?”
With the data panel, he could clearly see his progress, and he could also see how slow it was.
“At this rate, it will probably take ten days to half a month to increase my Mental Power by 0.01.”
“To reach 1 Mental Power, it would take at least three to five years!”
And this was with the help of the Divine Domain Fragment.
Three to five years to reach the Mental Power level of an Intermediate Wizard Apprentice was actually not bad.
After all, even a Third-Level Talent might not be this fast.
However, this was only the time needed to cultivate the Meditation Technique.
If you add the time needed to construct spell models…
Moreover, Karl couldn’t spend all his time on this. He couldn’t neglect his martial skills either.
To truly reach the level of an Intermediate Wizard Apprentice, it would probably take more than ten years.
“Forget it!”
Shaking his head, he turned and went to the Divine Domain Fragment.
“I’m not waiting for the Burning Moon Day anymore. I’ll go explore the other world first.”

“Snow?”
Standing at the doorway, Karl reached out and caught a snowflake falling from the sky, a puzzled look in his eyes.
Snow wasn’t strange.
What was strange was that the snow in his hand was mixed with a bit of black.
And unlike the snowflakes in his memory that melted upon contact and felt light and airy, the snow here had weight and was gray.
To call it snow,
it was more like ash.
Ash-gray snow fell from the sky, blanketing the entire Black City, even accumulating in a thick layer on the roads.
“Crunch… crunch…”
Leather boots crunched on the snow, making a “crunch, crunch” sound, and the biting cold was even more intense because of the weather.
Laca Market.
The market was sparsely populated, not only far less crowded than on Burning Moon Day but also less than half of its usual crowd.
Stall owners huddled behind their stalls, wrapped in thick coats, waiting for customers to arrive.
“Uncle!”
Aya looked up in surprise and joy:
“You’re here.”
“Hmm.” Karl nodded faintly:
“I didn’t expect you to still be running a stall here.”
After not seeing her for a while, Aya had become even thinner. “Skinny as a rail” was a perfect description for her. There were obvious bruises on her cheeks, and her clothes were tattered.
Insisting on running a stall in such cold weather, her hands and feet were already cracked from the cold, with pus oozing out, a pitiful sight.
“There’s no other way.”
Aya grinned:
“I took over the stall from Old Man Colon and spent all my savings. If I can’t earn money…”
“Life goes on.”
A hint of sadness flashed in her eyes, but it was quickly masked.
She was a strong girl. She had spent a fortune to buy the stall and still had to pay monthly rent.
Unfortunately,
business wasn’t good.
Aya had exhausted her savings to buy the stall hoping to make a living. Now it seemed this path wasn’t easy.
It was commendable that she had persevered until now.
Squatting down, Karl picked up a pinch of Soul Powder from the stall and asked:
“How much?”
“Two blackstones per portion.” Seeing a potential customer, Aya quickly replied:
“If you want it, Uncle, I can give you a discount.”
Two blackstones.
The price was similar to other places.
Even with a discount, it wouldn’t be much cheaper.
“The price is alright.” Karl didn’t haggle:
“But you don’t have much Soul Powder here.”
“Not much?”
Aya’s breath hitched, and her face flushed:
“Uncle, how much do you need?”
“I’ll take as much as you have.” Karl stood up, his voice calm:
“Money is not a problem.”
