Chapter 304: Ambush
“Another one dead!”
The Upper Follower of the God of Craftsmanship, clad in armor and wielding a heavy hammer, listened to the news with a cold expression.
“Recently, five Middle Followers have died, along with over a dozen Lower Followers, and even one Upper Follower has disappeared.”
“Clearly, someone is targeting us for elimination!”
“Indeed.” A dwarf beside him nodded in agreement:
“Moreover, the assassin is very strong, or possesses methods to suppress the Deity’s Followers, otherwise, it wouldn’t be so quick.”
The Followers of the God of Craftsmanship are mostly dwarves, a race with a talent for forging that surpasses other races.
“Who could it be?” The Upper Follower narrowed his eyes and asked:
“Has the God Child replied?”
“Our God Child is currently in battle with the Creator’s Sky Battleship, and cannot be distracted for the time being.” The dwarf shook his head:
“However, the God Children of the God of Wind and the God of Water have received the news and are on their way. Once they arrive, they will surely capture the assassin.”
Hearing this, a smile appeared on the Upper Follower’s face.
With the deities unable to enter this realm, the demigods and God Children are the pinnacle of power here, unmatched by anyone.
Though the assassin is strong, he certainly hasn’t reached that level, or else he wouldn’t be acting so stealthily.
“Swish!”
A streak of light flew from afar.
The Upper Follower reached out and caught it, revealing a paper-folded dove, which transformed into a sheet of paper upon landing in his hand.
“Oh?”
He raised an eyebrow, a look of joy on his face:
“The Follower of the God of Cunning has found a clue about the assassin. His name is Dou Sha… it seems he is a Follower of an Outer God.”
“Move out!”
“Golden Chariot!”
He raised the heavy hammer in his hand, and with a flash of dazzling golden light, a golden chariot appeared in the arena.
The Upper Follower leaped onto the chariot and turned back, saying:
“You guard this place, I will go assist them in capturing the assassin.”
“Yes.”
*
*
*
A valley.
Karl was still sitting cross-legged on a rock by the stream, his eyes closed as if immersed in cultivation.
The Kent siblings had hunted a wild boar and set up a frame to roast it. Before long, the rich aroma of meat wafted through the air.
“Swish!”
Slicing off the fattest boar leg, Kent handed it to his younger sister and gave her a look.
“…” Jima pursed her lips, looking hesitant, but still took the boar leg and walked towards Karl:
“Mr. Dou… Dou Sha, please eat.”
What a strange name.
She muttered in her heart, while controlling her arm that wanted to tremble.
“Hmm…” Karl opened his eyes, looking at the food being offered. His deep eyes reflected Jima’s unease, and then he reached out and grabbed it:
“Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.” Jima’s face turned pale, and she secretly sighed in relief as she retreated step by step back to her brother’s side.
It seems he’s not so ruthless when he’s not on a mission.
Just as the thought crossed her mind, Jima felt her breath catch, and she almost fell to her knees on the spot.
“They’re here!”
Karl’s voice was filled with joy, and he soared into the sky once more, disappearing from their sight in a few flashes, completely oblivious to the damage his released aura was causing to the surroundings.
Dozens of miles away.
Three Deity’s Followers, manipulating the wind, were attacking several figures desperately trying to escape. One of them shouted:
“You won’t escape, tell us who is behind you, and perhaps you can save your lives.”
“Bullshit!” One of the figures below yelled:
“It’s not like no one has been captured by you. As soon as they try to leak any secrets, they’re burned to ashes.”
“That time was an accident, we weren’t prepared.” The Follower of the God of Cunning said with a seductive tone:
“This time is different.”
“We are prepared, that kind of thing will never happen again. Or do you want to be controlled forever?”
“Haha…” One of the fleeing figures suddenly laughed:
“Deity’s Followers, you want to know who we’re working for? He’s here now.”
“We’re just afraid you won’t escape!”
Huh?
The three Deity’s Followers’ expressions changed slightly, and then their bodies glowed with various divine lights that intertwined in the air.
The divine lights merged into a mysterious six-sided prism, firmly protecting them.
“Clang…”
Flames and divine light collided continuously, making piercing shrieks, but only caused ripples in the divine light.
“Oh?”
Karl’s voice was filled with surprise as he appeared in mid-air:
“What is this thing?”
Since his constitution had reached 100 points, a casual strike could shatter a small mountain, and even a Third-Order being couldn’t withstand his full power. Yet, he was facing only two Middle Followers and one Lower Follower.
Logically, it was impossible for them to withstand his continuous attacks.
His gaze fell on a token in the hand of one of the Followers, and his eyes widened with understanding:
“A Fourth-Order Marvel!”
“Even with a Fourth-Order Marvel protecting you, how much power can you unleash with your strength?”
“Swish!”
His figure shifted, and flames remained in the air, transforming into firebirds, fire crocodiles, and fire dragons that pounced on the three.
Even the afterimages he created were comparable to a Third-Order Forbidden Knight’s full-strength attack.
“Bang!”
“Bang, bang…”
The three Deity’s Followers’ faces turned pale as they manipulated the Fourth-Order Marvel to retreat continuously.
As time passed, the divine light surrounding them gradually thinned, and it seemed like it could shatter at any moment.
โโโ
Suddenly.
Karl’s movements paused.
“Hmm…”
“Consider yourselves lucky!”
He snorted coldly, and his body transformed into a streak of fire as he turned and left, as other Deity’s Followers were approaching from afar.
If these Deity’s Followers gathered together, he wouldn’t be able to eliminate them quickly, and he might get trapped. So, he decided to leave.
Slightly disappointed, he returned to the valley. From high above, he saw the Kent siblings looking up at him.
Their eyes were filled with hidden panic.
Huh?
Karl’s expression changed slightly, and his figure suddenly froze.
“Too late!”
A mocking laugh rang out, and countless rays of light appeared out of nowhere, like a large net enveloping Karl.
At the same time.
Several figures appeared in the arena.
Deity’s Followers!
A full thirteen of them!
Among them were three Upper Followers, whose divine power combined to form a sealing and killing barrier.
“Your Excellency.”
The Sand Bandit leader appeared beside one of them and whispered:
“It’s him!”
Not only the Sand Bandit leader but also Blood Wolf appeared behind an Upper Follower, looking at him with a cold smile.
“Fierceness and brutality can be impressive for a while, but they can’t last.” The Upper Follower of the God of Cunning held a longsword, pointing it at Karl:
“By using restrictions to control others as bait, you will only make them resent you, and even rebel.”
“Such things have happened countless times in history, and you are no exception.”
“Hmph!” Karl snorted coldly, looking directly at the Sand Bandit leader:
“Don’t forget the restrictions on your bodies. With just a thought, I can make you die without a whole corpse!”
“You can try.” The Sand Bandit leader sneered:
“Dou Sha! You are indeed very strong, but you are not a deity after all, and you cannot understand the methods of deities.”
“A month ago, I had people try to contact the Deity’s Followers, and inadvertently leak some information. With the help of several angels, we have completely isolated your restrictions.”
“…” Karl’s expression changed, seemingly trying to trigger the restrictions, but his expression grew worse:
“Good!”
“Very good!”
“Enough with the nonsense!” The Upper Follower of the God of Craftsmanship roared loudly, raising the heavy hammer in his hand:
“Kill him!”
“Boom!”
Various divine lights surged and merged into the barrier, like thousands of frantically waving sharp blades, compressing Karl’s range of movement.
More Deity’s Followers were arriving from afar, including the three who had been chased by Karl earlier.
It was clear.
This was a trap.
The Sand Bandit leader had betrayed Karl and colluded with the Deity’s Followers, luring him away and setting up an ambush here.
“Third-Order!”
“And not just any Third-Order.” The Follower of the God of Cunning narrowed his eyes at Karl and nodded slightly:
“If we hadn’t trapped him in the barrier, it wouldn’t be easy to kill him.”
“Too bad…”
“It’s all over!”
“Huh?”
Before his voice faded, his expression suddenly changed.
The Karl trapped within the barrier shrunk his body, transforming into a ball of strange, constantly compressing fire, and then…
“Boom!”
A deafening roar echoed in the sky above the valley.
The terrifying power directly collapsed the surrounding mountains, and the barrier formed by more than a dozen Deity’s Followers was also torn to shreds.
A fiery explosion!
The one trapped in the barrier was not Karl, but a fire giant who had been absorbing the earth’s fire energy for months.
The force of this explosion was such that even demigods would have difficulty withstanding it.
But the explosion did not end there.
“Ugh…”
The Sand Bandit leader’s eyes bulged as he reached out to press his abdomen, his expression terrified. He opened his mouth and roared to the sky:
“No!”
“Boom!”
His entire body exploded on the spot, transforming into a ball of fire, and the Deity’s Followers who had already been injured by the tearing of the barrier were sent flying.
He was not the only one exploding.
The Sand Bandits exploded at the same time, and all the Deity’s Followers were affected.
At the same time.
Blood Wolf’s figure flashed, and a longsword silently pierced the back of the Upper Follower in front of him.
“Pfft!”
Only at this moment did Karl’s figure appear in the sky above the valley. He was facing a group of injured Deity’s Followers, or rather…
Waiting to harvest their Source Essence!
