Chapter 36: Opera House
Uncle Giles stayed behind to continue discussing the divorce, while Kingsley and Yvonne accompanied Karl to see the house.
It was a two-story house built with a mixture of brick and wood.
The walls were specially reinforced, the doors were mostly arched, and the flying beams added a touch of lightness and sophistication to the house.
The upper floor was for accommodation, and the lower floor was for receiving guests. It was divided into seven rooms, each of which was very spacious, even the bedrooms.
The kitchen and dining room were located near the entrance for easy preparation and distribution of food and drinks.
The living room was in the center of the house.
Upstairs, besides the bedrooms, there was a cloakroom, which could be converted into a small chapel or laboratory.
There was also a bathroom, divided into two parts, the outer part for washing and the inner part for the toilet, separated by a folding door.
Overall, the layout of the house was reasonable, but it lacked popularity and furniture, making it feel desolate, after all, no one had lived in it for a long time.
In addition,
it also had the disadvantages of a wooden house.
Due to the age of the building and insect bites, many of the wooden piles were rotten. If one wanted to live in it officially, one would have to spend some effort on repairs, which would not be a small expense and would also seriously affect the selling price.
“There is also a storage room in the basement. Due to design issues, the ventilation is not good. Remember to ventilate it first when you go in.”
Kingsley took Karl around:
“How is it?”
“Very good.”
Karl nodded:
“I’m very satisfied.”
Compared to the house, he was more satisfied with the small courtyard of more than 100 square meters, where he could rest in the courtyard at any time.
Every time he came back from the gloomy Black City, the thing he wanted to do most was to bask in the sun.
And a separate courtyard was also convenient for transporting goods.
As for the other defects, they didn’t matter to him. As a wizard apprentice, there were ways to solve them.
“I’m glad you’re satisfied.”
Kingsley smiled:
“Then let’s sign the contract, forty gold coins. I didn’t expect you to have such a large inheritance.”
Inheritance!
Karl’s explanation for his wealth was that his grandfather had left him an inheritance at the Monbaton Bank.
As for whether others believed it or not…
Believe it or not.
“After buying the house, I’m penniless.” Karl pretended to sigh:
“Pay ten gold coins first, and the rest within a month.”
“No problem.” Kingsley waved his hand:
“You’re my cousin, I have that much trust in you.”
She looked very happy, after all, forty gold coins were far beyond the value of this house.
As for the sadness of divorce…
She would only be glad that she had regained her freedom and couldn’t wait to get out of the marriage.
“Yvonne.”
After signing the contract, as the two women were about to get into the carriage and leave, Karl remembered something and invited Yvonne:
“Are you free tonight? A friend of mine will be performing at the Vim Opera House tonight. Would you like to go with me?”
“Ah!”
Yvonne’s face was first filled with ecstasy, then she looked at Kingsley, thought for a moment, and then shook her head gently with regret:
“I have to accompany my sister.”
Her sister was getting a divorce, and there were many things to deal with at home. Even if she didn’t need her help, she couldn’t play on her own.
“Yes.” Karl expressed his understanding:
“Then we’ll get together when we have time.”

“Pancakes! Pancakes for a penny!”
“Fish and chips, candied fruit, cheap sale…”
“…”
At the entrance of the Vim Opera House, stalls crowded the road, and hawking sounds were one after another.
The people maintaining order at the theater had to yell and shove to make a passage.
Getting out of the carriage, Karl followed the flow of people towards the ticket entrance, when he was suddenly pulled by the sleeve.
“Karl!”
“Hmm.” Karl turned around, his face full of surprise:
“Chief Dana, you… what are you wearing?”
As the eldest daughter of Viscount Saxon, Dana was not short of money, so her clothes were naturally exquisite and gorgeous.
Today was different.
A linen corset, dull in color and patched, muddy boots on her feet, and a simple headscarf.
✿✿✿
Her beautiful features were also covered with mud, and at first glance, she was no different from the lower-class women on the street.
No wonder Karl didn’t recognize her for a moment, but this dress was obviously intentional.
He suddenly realized:
“Are you investigating?”
Recently, Dana had rarely appeared at the Patrol Headquarters, and it was said that she was fully investigating the Vampire Corpse Case.
Unfortunately, she was not very well supported.
The people in the Patrol Headquarters were all from wealthy families, they were not short of food and drink, so how many of them were willing to take risks and fight?
“Hmm.”
Dana was expressionless:
“You should have a concert ticket, I’ll pay double the price, sell it to me, I have something to go in.”
“Chief.” Karl shook his head:
“The concert requires neat clothes. In your current attire, even if you have a ticket, I’m afraid you may not be able to get in.”
He took out two tickets and gestured:
“Let’s go!”
Dana raised her eyebrows, then snorted softly, raised her hand to wipe her face, took off her headscarf and let her long hair fall down.
After her simple treatment, although her clothes were still worn out, her temperament changed completely.
Especially the light that bloomed from her delicate features, completely covering the others.
Stepping forward, Dana took Karl’s arm, leaned her body close to him, and walked side by side, looking like a loving couple.
“Please come in, you two.”
The ticket inspector checked the tickets, his eyes paused slightly on Dana, then he stretched out his hand and gestured.
It was not uncommon for rich people to bring their mistresses to high-end places, and the quality of this mistress was also very high.
It’s just that the man was a bit stingy, and he didn’t even buy her decent clothes when he came to the theater.
The strange gaze did not move Dana. After entering the theater, she immediately let go of Karl’s arm and distanced herself from him, which made Karl, who was immersed in the soft experience, feel a little regretful.
“Thanks for this, I’ll buy you a drink when I have a chance.”
She said politely, and without waiting for Karl’s reply, Dana slipped into the crowd and disappeared.
…………
The members of the Barrow Singing Troupe performed with all their might, and the singer’s voice was clear and penetrating.
The music was as surging as a tide, and every note seemed to have life, jumping and spinning in the air, directly hitting the heart.
But even such a wonderful performance still had people who were absent-minded.
In a corner of the theater.
“Three gold coins?”
A beautiful woman exclaimed in a low voice:
“Why did the price go up again?”
“The goods are in short supply, isn’t it normal for the price to go up?” A man in a long robe snorted coldly and said slowly:
“Of course, you can also choose not to buy it.”
“Three gold coins, it’s too expensive.” The woman looked embarrassed:
“I’ve already spent nearly fifty gold coins on you, can you give me a discount this time?”
“I said…” The man’s voice was indifferent:
“You can choose not to buy it.”
?
The woman’s face changed, she struggled, and finally sighed helplessly:
“I’ll buy it.”
As she spoke, she took out her delicate purse and took out a gold coin and twenty gold pounds and handed them over.
“The goods are right, right?”
“When have I ever made a mistake?” The man took the money, a smile finally appeared on his face, and then handed over a porcelain bottle:
“Same as before, three drops at a time, once a week.”
“Clack!”
At this moment, a hand suddenly reached out from the darkness and grabbed the porcelain bottle.
Dana’s figure appeared:
“So, this is the so-called Purity Potion?”
“You…” The man’s face changed, and then his feet suddenly sprang out as if they were on springs.
“Want to escape?”
Dana snorted coldly:
“Can you escape?”
