Chapter 375: Vampire
“Zzz…”
A bright, peach-colored sports car pulled up at the entrance of the nightclub. The door swung open, and a long leg encased in black silk emerged from the vehicle.
The black, pointed leather shoes were polished to a shine, with small crystals twinkling and sparkling.
Monica tossed her golden, wavy hair and gestured with her hand:
“Professor Karl, please get out of the car!”
“There’s no need for that.”
Karl, dressed in a formal suit that seemed out of place in the noisy street, got out of the passenger seat and sighed helplessly:
“Someone my age isn’t suited for places like this anymore, and please don’t call me professor.”
Professor is a term of respect.
It’s only used to address those who have made significant contributions to science or the top scholars at elite universities.
Karl, who hasn’t achieved any research breakthroughs, certainly doesn’t qualify.
“With Mr. Karl’s theoretical level, becoming a professor is only a matter of time,” Monica said with a smile.
“It’s my honor to have been able to invite you, so of course we have to celebrate.”
“Please!”
Unlike her daytime attire of a formal suit and a social elite, Monica was now showcasing her exaggerated figure.
Sexy!
Gorgeous!
Graceful!
The bright lipstick and heavy eye makeup didn’t make her look vulgar; instead, they exuded a youthful vitality.
As for Karl…
He had white hair, wrinkles on his cheeks, and a slow gait, already showing signs of old age.
“Respected young lady!”
“Park the car!”
Monica tossed the car keys to the approaching valet, swayed her body, and walked into the nightclub.
“Professor Karl, your colleagues have been waiting inside for a long time.”
“Sigh!”
Karl sighed and followed her.
“Thump!”
“Click…”
“…”
After passing through two iron doors designed to block sound and provide security, his eyes were instantly met with a kaleidoscope of colors, accompanied by a cacophony of noises.
“This way!”
Monica shouted from ahead.
Even though they weren’t far apart, they had to shout to be heard, which showed how chaotic the sound was.
Karl’s lips twitched.
He really couldn’t understand why anyone would like a place like this, especially since he used to like it when he was younger.
Weaving through the crowd of swaying bodies, Monica pulled him through the darkness to a booth.
Several young people were already waiting there.
“Monica!”
“Rui Li!”
“Blaise!”
“…”
“Let me introduce you,” Monica said, pulling Karl forward and shouting:
“This is Professor Karl, who researches biodiversity. He’ll be your colleague from now on.”
?
Karl opened his mouth, but didn’t correct the inaccuracy of her introduction. He nodded to the others:
“Karl Bergman, a part-time teacher who also does research.”
“The teaching is part-time,” Monica said, putting her arm around Karl’s shoulder with a serious expression:
“Research is your main job. That’s why I spent a lot of money to hire you. I’m looking forward to your research being successful.”
“Monica,” Karl shrugged:
“You’d better lower your expectations. Not all research yields results.”
“In fact…”
“Most research is trial and error.”
“That’s true,” said the man named Blaise, getting up to shake Karl’s hand. He said:
“I’ve been doing research for over a decade, and I still haven’t had any success.”
“That’s because you have money,” Monica scoffed:
“Since you’re investing in yourself, of course you’re not in a hurry to see results. I’m the company’s investor.”
“Heh…” Blaise chuckled:
“What kind of research does Mr. Karl do?”
“The origin of life,” Karl said, shaking hands with Rui Li, who had long, azure hair, before finding a seat. He continued:
“Also DNA, RNA…and their effects on the various tissues and organs of living organisms.”
“Oh!” Blaise raised an eyebrow:
◈◈◈
“Research in that area is mostly theoretical, and there aren’t many concrete results. Monica is actually willing to invest?”
Monica rolled her eyes.
“Do I know what DNA and RNA are?” Rui Li asked curiously:
“Mr. Karl, please forgive my ignorance in this area. I’m a history teacher at the academy.”
“The two are related. You can think of them as gene regulation and genetic information,” Karl said:
“Current research shows that genetic information is mainly determined by DNA, but my view is a little different…”
“Oh!” Blaise sat up straight:
“Why?”
“The functions of the various organs in the human body are different, but they all come from the same place, and the selection of genes is very important,” Karl explained:
“According to existing theories, genetic information is fixed, and certain congenital deformities, like having six fingers, are due to a few gene mutations…”
“The selection of genetic information is very important, DNA…”
“Enough!” Monica rubbed her forehead:
“This isn’t a place to discuss research; it’s a place to relax and enjoy yourselves.”
“That’s right!” Blaise got up, bent down, and offered his hand to Monica:
“Beautiful Miss Monica, I wonder if I might have the honor of dancing with you tonight?”
“Sure.”
Monica flicked her long hair and lowered her wrist.
When she returned to the booth after two dances, she saw Karl quietly sipping his wine.
Rui Li and Blaise had each found their own targets to play with.
“Professor Karl.”
Monica shrugged and said:
“Are you always this boring?”
“Not really,” Karl shook his head:
“It’s just that I’m getting old, my hormone levels are dropping, and many things are no longer enough to spark my interest.”
“I’m not like you. Now, even if I want to do certain things, I have to consider my physical condition first.”
Monica raised an eyebrow.
She wondered if it was her imagination, but she felt that there was a hidden meaning in his words.
“It seems it was a mistake to force you to come here. How about I take you to a high-end restaurant next time?”
“We’ll see.”
“Then I’ll go have fun myself?”
“Have fun.”
With a smile, Monica swayed into the crowd.
A tall, white man noticed her and licked his lips before approaching her.
“Beautiful lady.”
The man’s hands reached for her slender waist, and he leaned close to her neck, taking a deep sniff of her fragrance and whispering:
“Would you like me to play with you?”
“Hmm…” Monica turned around, her beautiful eyes flickering:
“Are you up to it?”
“I’ll guarantee you’ll be satisfied!” The man grinned:
“No woman who’s tasted me has ever disliked it.”
“Oh!” Monica’s eyes lit up:
“It’s not very convenient here. How about we go to the back?”
“Of course!” The man was overjoyed and immediately put his arm around her waist, pushing through the crowd toward the back alley of the nightclub.
Soon.
“Sizzle!”
Monica touched the blood at the corner of her mouth. Two protruding fangs slowly retracted, and she pushed the corpse beside her.
“Tch!”
“A drug addict; he really ruined my appetite!”
…………
“Even a young woman at the peak of her physical condition wouldn’t be able to dance for that long without sweating.”
Karl picked up his wine glass and took a small sip:
“Vampire…”
“Without the gods, all kinds of demons and monsters have come out, but their nature doesn’t seem to be that of evil people.”
“Hmm?”
Just as he was whispering to himself, two beautiful figures approached the booth.
“Handsome!”
“Are you alone?”
Both women had curvaceous figures, and as for their appearances…
Not to mention the chaotic lighting here, just the thick layer of foundation made it impossible to see their features clearly.
Karl looked up, sighing helplessly in his heart.
This scent…
They’re also vampires!
But unlike Monica, these two had an odor of decay, decline, and madness.
They were completely different from ‘human’ beings.
This nightclub,
Could it be a hunting ground for vampires?
