Chapter 52: Holy Knight
The closer they got to Pit Number Two’s surface, the more Half-Dead Creatures there were.
Especially the former miners’ stronghold, which was full of infected undead, a scene like a living hell.
“Holy Law!”
A middle-aged man in armor, holding a longsword, looked solemnly at the chaotic crowd ahead.
As he uttered two syllables with a holy aura, a soft white light emanated from him, and the surrounding Yin Energy seemed to dissipate.
“The dead should rest in peace.”
With a slight bow, the man dashed out like lightning, his longsword whirling, cutting down the Half-Dead one after another.
The longsword in his hand was covered in rust and didn’t look sharp, but it cut into the bodies of the Half-Dead as smoothly as a hot knife through butter.
Nothing could stop the longsword.
The white light on his body could restrain the Yin Energy.
In the blink of an eye, more than ten Half-Dead were completely immobilized.
The man slowly sheathed his sword, turned to look at the few people he had saved, and placed one hand on his chest, bowing deeply:
“May God bless you.”
The few people were dumbfounded, and one of them stammered:
“Tha… Thank you!”
In Black City, except for trusted family and friends, no one would help strangers.
The strong would never show kindness to the weak.
So…
What kind of strange person was this?
“I’m looking for someone.”
The man took out a crumpled scroll from his body. After unfolding it, the face of a young man was revealed:
“His name is Lane. He was sold here last year.”
“Lane?”
The few people shook their heads blankly:
“Don’t know him, haven’t seen him.”
“Is that so?” The man said with regret:
“Sorry to bother you.”
“Wait a minute.” A little girl’s crisp voice rang out from the crowd:
“I remember there seems to be a Lane in Pit Number Three, but it’s close to Pit Number Two, and it’s underground…”
“He might be dead already.”
“Oh!” The man’s eyes lit up:
“Thank you.”
He turned and walked towards Pit Number Three.
“Wait!”
The little girl got up and said urgently:
“It’s very dangerous down there, do you really have to go?”
“Yes.” The man nodded:
“I promised my friend that I would protect his son. Keeping promises is our code.”
“Bu… Bu…” The little girl stammered, seeing the man walking farther and farther away, she shouted loudly:
“What’s your name?”
“Russell.”
The man’s voice came with the wind.
“Let’s go.” Someone whispered in the crowd:
“He should be a Holy Knight.”
“Holy Knight?” Someone said in surprise:
“The Moon Goddess has already fallen, are there still Holy Knights?”
As knights guarding the goddess, when the goddess fell, the Holy Knights had already followed her.
“There are.”
A voice rang out:
“Some people believe that the Moon Goddess has not truly fallen. They travel around, searching for traces of the goddess in this world, seeking a way to resurrect her.”
“Forget it!”
“It has nothing to do with us.”
Aya took Little Nan away, and the team lost two fighters, but it wasn’t a big problem for Karl.
He only asked the others to lure out the prey, and then he would personally kill it, mainly guarding against those hiding in the dark.
When it came to actually fighting, even Little Nan, a Knight Squire, couldn’t really help.
If the target wasn’t even his opponent, having one or two more people wouldn’t make a difference.
Aya also understood this, so she took Little Nan away, as it was irrelevant.
However, when they actually started to act, Karl noticed something strange and frowned subconsciously.
Without Aya, although Dana and the other four still listened to his commands, he always felt that it wasn’t as smooth.
It was like,
There was a layer of separation between them.
He had to admit that although Aya’s strength wasn’t strong, she had a kind of leadership that made people convinced.
No wonder she was able to pull together a force in a short period of time, and the others followed her willingly. This ability was obviously not something Karl possessed.
…………
“Swish!”
“Thud, thud!”
Arrows dipped in holy water pierced into the bodies of the Half-Dead.
White smoke immediately rose from the Half-Dead, the Yin Energy in their bodies dissipated, and their movements became slow and stiff.
“Kill!”
Dana and the others shouted and charged forward.
This process had long been familiar to them. With the help of holy water, harvesting the Half-Dead Creatures was incredibly easy.
The Half-Dead Creatures that others were reluctant to deal with were their favorites.
“Thud!”
Karl swung his broadsword, decapitating an undead.
“Who?”
Before he could collect the Soul Powder on the ground, Hausman suddenly roared ahead, and he couldn’t help but look up.
At the end of the street, a man with messy blond hair walked slowly towards them.
The man had a strange longsword hanging from his waist and stepped on the corpse of a Half-Dead person. He looked at them, his face completely hidden under his messy blond hair.
“They are my prey.”
“Yours?”
Hausman sneered:
“You say they’re yours, so they’re yours?”
“Hausman.” Dana stopped what she was doing and said:
“Be careful!”
There were five of them, and the other party clearly only had one person, yet he blatantly came over to ask for the spoils of war.
He was either crazy or confident enough.
“Look.”
The man turned the corpse over and pointed to its back:
“This wound was left by me.”
There was indeed a thin sword mark on the back of the corpse, slanting down from top to bottom, but it wasn’t fatal.
“So what?”
Hausman looked disdainful:
“We killed it. It only means you’re not capable. Next time, remember to be decisive!”
“Enough.”
Karl frowned and said:
“Give him the corpse.”
Ever since the blond man appeared, the Venomous Wolf Breathing Technique had been sending him warning signs. Although weak, he was definitely a master.
It was better to avoid trouble.
It was just a corpse.
“You’re right.”
Before Hausman could back down, the blond man nodded first and said:
“Thank you for the reminder. You should indeed be decisive when you strike. I won’t make this mistake again.”
?
Karl’s heart skipped a beat.
“Watch out!”
Before he could cast a spell, his wrist flicked, and three arrows had already shot out, heading straight for the blond man.
“Clang…”
With a crisp sound, the three arrows fell to the ground.
And a sword like a sharp thorn appeared in the blond man’s hand. After cutting off the incoming arrows, the blade pierced Hausman’s heart with astonishing speed.
“Thud!”
With a gentle push, the sword pierced through his heart and out of his back.
“This time…”
Looking at Hausman, whose face was full of shock and whose life was rapidly fading, the man grinned, his smile bright:
“Decisive enough?”
“Hausman!”
“Ah!”
“…”
Dana and the other three’s expressions changed drastically. The anger of their companion being killed instantly reached its peak, and they roared as they charged forward.
“Heh…”
Seeing this, the blond man shook his head slightly. With a flick of his wrist, Hausman’s corpse flew out.
His figure followed closely behind. The thin sword in his hand trembled, and afterimages of the blade appeared, instantly enveloping the few people.
‘Here it comes!’
‘My favorite scene is here!’
‘Blood splattering! Limbs scattering! Despair and fear…’
“Clang…”
“Clang, clang, clang…”
Rapid clanging sounds rang out, sparks flew from the clash of metal, but the imagined scene didn’t appear. Instead, the blond man retreated repeatedly, landing lightly with his sword.
“Huh?”
He looked at Karl, his face full of surprise:
“Unexpectedly, there’s another master here.”
“What a pity!”
Before he finished speaking, he charged forward with his sword again, his speed more than a notch faster than before, and the afterimages of his sword even more intense.
