Wizard, I Have Another World – Chapter 62

Chapter 62

Chapter 62: Enchanted Item

Karl cautiously picked up the ring from the ground, carefully examining it only after they had moved a significant distance away from the ‘Forgotten City’.

The ring rested quietly in his palm.

Unornamented, smooth and cool to the touch, with a simple yet elegant design and flowing lines.

It was clearly just an ordinary plain ring, yet it seemed to possess a special kind of magic, making it hard to look away.

The inner circle was engraved with a few inconspicuous small characters.

Karl softly sounded them out:

“Gu… Na…”

“Swish!”

These two syllables seemed to have flipped a switch, and the ring suddenly trembled, automatically slipping onto Karl’s finger.

It chose his left ring finger.

“Click!”

The ring tightened around his finger, and Karl felt a slight pain, then everything returned to normal.

Upon closer inspection, one could see a few blood streaks on the inner circle of the ring, seeping towards the inside, and the ring itself seemed to be undergoing some sort of wondrous transformation.

Karl, with a flash of insight, spoke again:

“Guna!”

“Hum…”

The ring suddenly shone brightly.

Within the light, objects materialized out of thin air, arranged in an orderly fashion, like soldiers awaiting the general’s command.

There were seven items in total.

A helmet, breastplate, elbow guards, gauntlets, skirt armor, knee guards, and boots ━ a complete set of armor.

Following his intuition, Karl loosely clenched his hand.

“Swish!”

The armor pieces floating around him abruptly converged, rushing towards Karl’s body.

Each piece found its designated position, fitting seamlessly, completely enveloping Karl.

“Click!”

With a crisp sound, a black-armored warrior appeared on the spot.

The armor stood tall, like a towering mountain, radiating a solemn and chilling aura.

Every part, every plate, seemed to have been honed by time, gleaming with a cold, metallic sheen.

The design was quite ordinary.

There were no overly complex patterns or embellishments.

Yet, it maximized its ability to withstand attacks while ensuring the wearer’s flexibility.

What truly astonished Karl was not the armor itself, but the method by which it had manifested.

“Void Storage?”

“Automatic Assembly!”

Automatic Assembly was a first-circle spell that allowed enchanted items to automatically adapt to the wearer’s body size.

Void Storage was a second-circle spell, similar to the storage space in Karl’s memory, capable of holding items within.

This ring was actually inscribed with two spells, and one of them was a second-circle spell!

One must know…

It was uncertain whether there were even any second-circle wizards in the entire Kingdom of Gando.

“Enchanted Item!”

This was unmistakably an enchanted item, and one of a rank higher than second-circle.

To possess such an item, the previous owner must have been incredibly powerful, yet they had also turned into a pile of bones before the Forgotten City, further solidifying his belief that he must never approach that city.

Karl raised his hand, and beneath the glove made of fine iron plates, the ring named Guna shimmered faintly.

Unfortunately, the seemingly indestructible armor was actually severely damaged.

Perhaps due to the erosion of time…

Or perhaps from past injuries…

In any case…

This enchanted weapon no longer possessed its former might.

“However…”

Karl’s eyes flickered, and his broadsword unsheathed with a clang. The blade flashed in the air, slashing towards his shoulder.

“Clang…”

Sparks flew.

Karl’s body swayed slightly, and a smile involuntarily appeared on his face.

As a noble, he had seen many suits of armor collected by the powerful and wealthy, and this one’s defensive capabilities surpassed any he had seen before.

Unless a Formal Knight attacked with full force, he would have little chance of being injured while protected by the armor.

“Clatter…”

A faint sound came from behind him.

Karl’s eyes shifted slightly, and the armor on his body instantly transformed into a stream of light, disappearing into the ring.

He turned around.

Heading back in the direction he came from.

By the time Karl returned, everyone had been awakened.

Three City Guard soldiers were yelling loudly, ordering people to carry the bodies of the scouts back.

At the same time…

They rummaged through the bodies, pocketing any valuables they found.

No wonder they hadn’t confiscated Karl and the others’ belongings at the beginning ━ they weren’t in a hurry.

After all, the people here couldn’t escape, and it was easier to take their things when they died.

“Get up!”

One of the soldiers kicked Little Nan, who was slow to react, cursing:

“You bunch of useless trash! Still haven’t found the end after all this time? Get moving and continue scouting!”

“Ugh!”

Little Nan groaned in pain, struggling to get up.

He wanted to say that he had just arrived and it wasn’t his fault they hadn’t found the end, but saying that would only lead to more abuse and wouldn’t accomplish anything, so he simply kept his mouth shut.

“S-Sir…”

At this moment…

Someone in the crowd timidly raised their hand:

“I have something to report.”

“Oh!”

The soldier turned around, looking over with interest:

“What is it? Let’s hear it.”

“Someone wants to escape.” The man swallowed, suppressing his fear of the soldier, and pointed at Karl:

“It’s him!”

Hmm?

Karl’s eyes narrowed.

Little Nan and Leon’s expressions changed drastically, and they instinctively tensed up, gripping their weapons.

“Oh!”

The soldier turned around, a mocking smile on his face:

“Really?”

“Really!” The informant nodded vigorously:

“I heard him with my own ears, saying he wanted to leave this place and asking others if they knew a way out.”

“I’m asking you!” The soldier strode towards Karl, shoving the hilt of his sword into Karl’s shoulder:

“Is it true?”

He raised his neck high, looking down at Karl as if he were a loathsome insect.

His actions were full of contempt.

“…” Karl pursed his lips:

“Yes.”

“How dare you!” The soldier’s eyes widened in fury, and he backhanded Karl:

“I’ll teach you to ask!”

“Thud!”

The slap never landed.

A sword blade pierced the soldier’s throat, protruding from the back of his head, freezing him in place.

Karl slowly withdrew his longsword, letting the soldier’s body collapse in front of him, his face devoid of emotion.

His movements were too fast…

Too sudden…

And completely unexpected. For a moment, everyone stood stunned, unable to react.

Until a furious roar broke the silence.

“Ah!”

“You killed Pete!”

The other two soldiers’ faces paled, and they charged forward, drawing their swords.

The people carrying the bodies screamed in terror, rushing upwards, shouting something.

The ground trembled slightly.

Karl’s figure vanished from the spot, charging forward like a tiger descending a mountain or a bear on the hunt.

“Bang!”

The three collided heavily.

The soldiers, clad in armor, possessed considerable strength, but before Karl, they were like fragile clay dolls, shattering upon impact.

Two figures were sent flying.

“Swish!”

Sword shadows flashed.

Karl, wielding his broadsword, reappeared several meters away. The two soldiers’ heads were already separated from their bodies.

The headless corpses fell to the ground one after another, blood gushing from their necks.

“I asked.”

He turned around, facing the informant, his voice icy:

“So what?”

“Y-You…” The informant’s face was ashen, and he stumbled back, pointing at Karl:

“The City Guard won’t let you get away with this!”

“Humph!”

Little Nan snorted and charged forward with his shield:

“We’re all going to die anyway, might as well fight them!”

“Yes.”

Leon echoed:

“Let’s fight them!”

The two surrounded the informant, punching and kicking him.

The others watched with indifference, showing no sign of solidarity, instead backing away.

Jacqueline, Mond, Dunlop…

All wore expressions of apathy, looking at Karl as if he were already dead.

“Whoosh…”

At that moment, a fierce wind suddenly swept through the area, and a howling gale surged from the passage behind them, followed by a figure.

“Someone else dares to resist?”

The newcomer glanced at the situation, his gaze landing on Karl. His eyes turned cold:

“You’re courting death!”

Before his words faded, a flash of blade light appeared.
