Ch 192: The Influenced Meal
The Rabbitfolk at the reception desk looked at Lin Lulu curiously, “Excuse me, how many people would you like to recruit? What are your requirements?”
“Uh… I’m not quite sure either. Is the Elf Forest dangerous?”
The Rabbitfolk was somewhat surprised, looking thoughtfully at Lin Lulu’s attire, “Guest, have you just arrived in Olovia? You seem rather unfamiliar; are you an adventurer from elsewhere?”
Normal Olovia residents should be quite familiar with the surrounding areas. The other party’s clothing is strange, and the commission is unusual; only Advanced Level adventurers generally go to explore and train in such places.
“Yes, I arrived not long ago and don’t know much about this place. I’m not sure if I count as an adventurer, but I can fight.”
“Guest, you can take an Adventurer Rank test. We will register you as a Guild adventurer. If you are new and don’t understand, we can also recommend suitable candidates based on your test results.”
Hearing the Rabbitfolk’s introduction, Lin Lulu nodded. She wasn’t sure what level the adventurers in this world were, or what kind of teammates she should look for.
Her initial idea was that she was a long-range attack Ability User. If she was looking for teammates, she needed a front-line protector, a healer, and another damage dealer to avoid running out of energy and having no means of attack.
She wasn’t sure if this place was divided by profession, race, or ability.
The Rabbitfolk turned around and took out a Crystal Sphere. The fine crystalline structure inside was very beautiful.
“Guest, please place your hand on the White Crystal Obsidian Ball for the test.”
Others in the Guild also looked curiously, wanting to know what the test results of this strange Human would be.
Lin Lulu placed her hand on it, and the sphere erupted in a golden light.
“Wow! Gold! It’s an Advanced Level adventurer!”
Some around already exclaimed in wonder; the Rabbitfolk at the reception desk was also very surprised, and became more respectful towards Lin Lulu.
“Guest, your strength can reach Advanced Level adventurer. What are your specialties?”
Specialties? It’s her ability, right? “I specialize in long-range attacks. I want to find teammates with protection, healing, and offensive abilities.”
“The area near the Elf Forest is very dangerous; it probably requires Advanced Level adventurers to complete your commission. You will need at least 9 Gold Coins to find the adventurers you want to recruit. What is your budget…?”
9 Gold Coins? Ailisting gave her a heavy bag of Gold Coins, very heavy on her back. 9 Gold Coins wasn’t a very expensive price for her.
“No problem, this budget is acceptable.”
“Okay, the Guild will post your recruitment task shortly. We will look for bodyguards, Healers, powerful battle-class adventurers, or Black Mages for you. If your budget is sufficient, I suggest adding a Disassembler; they can decompose monsters and collect materials.”
“Good.”
The budget was sufficient. Although she didn’t know what monsters were, the materials should be able to be exchanged for money, right? This might save some budget, and Ji Chuan might be more satisfied with the results of her test?
“This is the Advanced Level adventurer’s pass. Please keep it. When the Crystal Obsidian Pass glows, the Adventurers’ Guild will summon you; you should have recruited your candidates by then.”
Lin Lulu nodded and walked out, but she felt like someone was watching her. It must be because her unfamiliarity with this world made others feel strange, but Lin Lulu didn’t mind.
She planned to enjoy the peace before completing the recruitment. Since arriving in this world, every day had been very painful. Eating only fish and fruit made her very bored, and she couldn’t sleep well and was very tired.
Now she wanted to savor the food of this different world in this bustling city and take a good rest, giving herself a break.
Leaving the Adventurers’ Guild, Lin Lulu looked for a restaurant. She hadn’t drunk the Mutton Soup the Werewolf Clan gave her that morning, and her stomach was already protesting.
With her previous experience shopping in the market, she thought she should choose a restaurant run by a Human owner, otherwise, she might end up with some strange food.
She looked inside at every place that looked like a restaurant, observing whether the customers inside were mostly Humans.
After visiting several stores, she finally chose one that looked good and went inside. She felt like she was going to a Western restaurant for the first time as a child, not knowing how to order or what the prices were.
“Hello, is this a restaurant? I’d like to order.”
The owner was a kind-looking Woman. She guided Lin Lulu to a table and gave her a menu.
But Lin Lulu was a little embarrassed. She couldn’t understand the words on the menu. It seemed to incorporate features from several different scripts. She looked around. Luckily, the food on the next table looked good.
“Boss, I want the same dishes as that table. Give me one set.”
The boss nodded, her gaze fixed on a Rat-Person who had just entered. Although the various races in this city were integrated, the dietary habits of each race were very different, and foreign race guests rarely appeared here.
Lin Lulu put her backpack beside her, waiting for the food of this different world.
“What will you be having, sir?”
The proprietress walked to the Rat-Person and handed over the menu. The Rat-Person didn’t look at it carefully, just randomly pointed at two items without speaking.
“Alright, sir, please wait a moment.”
In this world without pre-made dishes, Lin Lulu felt the wait was a little long, but the aroma wafting from the kitchen did pique her appetite. Looking at the satisfied expression of the customer at the next table, the taste of this restaurant couldn’t be bad.
A bowl of rice drizzled with glistening sauce, sprinkled with small pieces of various vegetables and fruits, and grilled meat steaks steaming with heat, their brown color very tempting. Lin Lulu unconsciously swallowed.
Just as she was about to enjoy her first meal in this world, the Rat-Person at the side quickly got up, grabbed Lin Lulu’s backpack, and dashed out of the store.
Lin Lulu was instantly panicked, not expecting to encounter a thief in this world, “My bag!”
The proprietress reacted quickly, abandoning her gentle demeanor. She immediately jumped out from behind the counter.
She had been wary of the Rat-Person from the moment he entered, some races’ habits are hard to change, and he didn’t seem to be paying attention to the menu when ordering.
She quickly grabbed the Rat-Person’s collar, “Dare to steal in my shop!”
But to her surprise, the Rat-Person threw the bag outside, where his accomplices were already waiting.
Lin Lulu had been targeted by them at the Adventurers’ Guild. Being able to hire four Advanced Level adventurers at once, she must have a lot of wealth. They didn’t expect the bag to be so heavy, it looked like a big fish.
The proprietress struggled to control the Rat-Person in front of her but didn’t have the energy to catch the accomplices outside. Her expression was anxious, worried that the customer’s bag would be lost.
Two Light Arrows flew out quickly, piercing the Rat-Person’s thigh in an instant.
The proprietress turned her head in surprise, only to see Lin Lulu’s angry expression. She walked to the Rat-Person outside, brushing the dust off the bag on the ground.
Two Light Arrows stopped in front of her. Lin Lulu looked at the owner inside, “Thank you for your help. What happens to thieves here?”
The bag contained not only a large bag of Gold Coins, but also clues left by Ji Chuan. Lin Lulu was truly angry.
The commotion attracted many onlookers. In the crowd, there seemed to be a pair of eyes carefully observing everything.
