Ch 220: The Mysterious Crystalline Stone
“Citizens, if you see anyone with a sudden high fever, loss of consciousness, or convulsions, please stay away immediately. They may be turning into zombies!”
Ji Chuan quickly shouted over the City. He temporarily entrusted Xiao Shuai to Xiao La, instructing Xiao Shuai to wait obediently for his return.
Xiao Mei also came to help. Ji Chuan instructed her to eliminate any zombies she encountered on the spot to avoid them injuring more citizens.
Da Zhuang is still young, and Ji Chuan is somewhat worried about Da Zhuang’s judgment, and he attacks with his bare hands. Ji Chuan is unsure whether Da Zhuang, if injured by a zombie, would be threatened.
The army, which had been resting, finally found use. They quickly integrated into various areas of the Kingdom, isolating the Kingdom into Safe Zones and eliminating any encountered zombies.
Ji Chuan’s figure continuously appeared in various corners of the City. Olovia was ablaze, incineration being the best way to eliminate these zombies. Failure to dispose of their corpses could lead to a plague.
Through a night of effort, the situation was finally brought under control. Olovia returned to peace, Faith Power flowing into Ji Chuan’s body.
According to information gathered by the army, several mine workers turned into zombies. No clues were found on the others. Ji Chuan planned to investigate the Mine directly, judging that the others might have been accidentally scratched by those from the Mine.
Normally, each Race’s Living Area is relatively fixed; Undead should not suddenly appear nearby. But if Undead appear nearby, it will likely spread quickly.
Of all the Races in this Different World, Ji Chuan understands the Undead best. After all, zombies were everywhere in the original world, and he is very familiar with their attack and transformation methods.
However, in this current world, he has lost the ability to command them, which makes Ji Chuan somewhat frustrated.
If the Undead are not controlled, zombies will not provide him with Faith Power. Those unintelligent beings have no Faith; they can only act on instinct.
With a large number of zombies approaching other Races’ Living Areas, this world will also face the Apocalypse.
As soon as Ji Chuan arrived at the Mine entrance, he discovered something unusual: the Energy within was excessively concentrated.
He entered, frowning. What could be the source of such concentrated Energy? A strong opponent?
As Ji Chuan went deeper, some ores caught his eye. He flew to the ores in surprise, “This isโฆ”
He touched these transparent ores, their form similar to Crystal Cores.
“Are these the Crystalline Stones Arthur mentioned?”
Arthur had mentioned to Ji Chuan that gold, silver, and Crystalline Stones would be used as materials for general Currency. He had thought Crystalline Stones were ordinary gems, but they are of the same substance as Crystal Cores.
There are many transparent Crystalline Stone Mines in the shallow layers. Ji Chuan already felt their faint Energy.
Ji Chuan found a few sporadic zombies wandering in the Mine. They didn’t react upon seeing Ji Chuan. He incinerated them and continued onward.
As Ji Chuan continued deeper, the Mine’s Space, instead of narrowing, became wider, like a bottomless Underground City.
ใArthur, did you excavate this Mine?ใ
ใLord God of Faith, we accidentally discovered the Mine entrance. The internal Space is likely naturally formed. We currently lack the technology for in-depth exploration.ใ
Ji Chuan understood. It’s hard to imagine such a Space being excavated by Humans.
For ordinary people, work is limited to the shallow, level ground. But for Ji Chuan, with Night Vision and Flight Ability, in-depth exploration is not difficult.
As Ji Chuan descended, he discovered more surprising things. The Crystalline Stone Mines were of different colors. The Mine walls here displayed clusters of green, containing a large amount of green Crystalline Stone Mine.
If the two worlds are connected, could Crystal Cores be produced from these Crystalline Stones?
Ji Chuan sensed that the green Crystalline Stones possessed stronger Energy than the transparent ones.
ใHow many more Mines like this are there?ใ
ใThere’s only this one near Olovia. There are a few smaller Mines near the Goblin Kingdom, but they are much smaller in scale and less abundant. We haven’t explored other areas, but there are probably many more.ใ
What if the zombies are really related to these Mines? If there are Mines all over the world, how can the zombies be controlled?
Is the great disaster Xiao Hui spoke of related to this?
Deep in the Mine, Ji Chuan began to see blue and purple Crystalline Stones. Their quantity was significantly less than the green ones, and they were very similar to Crystal Cores.
The Mine seemed bottomless. As Ji Chuan rapidly descended, he only felt the surrounding Energy growing stronger, but this aimless descent was beginning to exhaust his patience.
He didn’t sense any Lifeforms here. Even if Lifeforms appeared, would they really be able to find their way out of such a deep pit?
Ji Chuan returned to the Werewolf Clan Territory, worried about Xiao Shuai, who is still just a Child.
“Master, you’re finally back!”
Xiao La knelt before Ji Chuan, its body bearing many bite marks.
Xiao La sobbed, clinging to Ji Chuan’s leg, “It bit so hard! Master, if you had arrived a little later, you wouldn’t have seen Xiao La anymore!”
Xiao Shuai flew over happily upon seeing Ji Chuan, “Master is back!”
He immediately sucked on Ji Chuan’s finger. Ji Chuan knew Xiao Shuai was hungry. He really couldn’t be separated from him for long; if he had returned any later, Xiao La might have truly been drained.
Ji Chuan healed Xiao La. Xiao La felt the pain vanish, and its entire body felt much lighter.
“Thank you, Master!” The refreshed Xiao La happily rubbed against Ji Chuan’s leg. Xiao Shuai’s eyes were cold; its tail swiftly slapped Xiao La’s face, and Xiao La quickly ran away.
Xiao Shuai focused on sucking Ji Chuan’s finger; Ji Chuan paid it no mind.
“Where do the Undead live? Some Undead have recently appeared in the Human Royal City, but no clues have been found.”
Ji Chuan planned to ask Xiao La if they knew anything.
Xiao La, clutching its face which had been swatted by Xiao Shuai’s tail, pondered. “Master, our Beastmen mostly operate in this area; our knowledge is limited. But the Birdfolk Race is different; they are the Beastmen with the most information.”
Ji Chuan nodded. Since the Werewolf Clan and Tiger Race merged, the Beastmen seemed much calmer, somewhat intimidated by this strongest force.
Since there are no invaders, should I take the initiative? Otherwise, when will I be able to harvest the remaining Beastmen’s Faith Power?
Ji Chuan patted the small, round belly of Xiao Shuai. “Call me when you’re hungry; Xiao La and the others are not Food.”
Xiao Shuai blinked in agreement; as long as Master was there, other blood types held no appeal.
Night was deep. After eating, Xiao Shuai felt sleepy; he yawned and lay on Xiao La’s bed, his tail curled in front of him.
Xiao La wasn’t angry; it covered Xiao Shuai with a sheepskin.
“I’ll go to the Birdfolk Race Territory. Call me if anything happens.”
“Yes, Master.”
After Ji Chuan disappeared, Xiao La curiously smelled Xiao Shuai. This was the most complex scent it had ever encountered.
“What exactly is this Child?”
A small wolf brain, a big question.
